    Raw, suppressed, slightly out of tune, crackley. What do you expect from studio one.. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

      "Hey, I've got a plugin that can make a mp3 sound like this."
      Bollocks, this is a record that has been loved, battered and still getting played. Those imperfections are like the lines on your grannies face, built over time and to be cherished.

    I don’t think it gets any better than this.
    Effortless and commanding performance by all involved.
    Proof that the cream always rises to the top.

    Such wonderful sultry overtones here, i loved this from the first time i clapped ears on it. My copy is just as scratchy. Truely an example of Less Is More. So good on so many different levels.

    This song was written by the blues guitarist Willie Cobbs, and recorded by him in Memphis in 1961 for the Mojo and Home of the Blues labels. I have always wondered how it made its way to Jamaica.

      Coxsone often covered US tunes. The Impressions The Tams and Temptations
      were all reappropriated for the greater good by Coxsone and others.

    • @jdoggtn7
      @jdoggtn7 Před 9 lety +10

      More precisely, Jamaicans often covered tunes from Memphis, from New Orleans and from the "swamp pop" regions of Lafayette and Lake Charles. It makes one wonder if AM radio from Louisiana had an impact on Jamaica.

      There's no doubt about the radio, Jamaica is not that far away. Plus, you have to keep in mind that seasonal workers who were coming to the US would buy records to sell back home. That is another contributing factor.
