- Revellers in New York said goodbye to the past year and welcomed the year ahead, as they counted down to the iconic ball drop at Times Square early on Jan. 1. Confetti was dispersed over the crowd after the ball was dropped from its 130-foot pole.

I come from Sydney, AUS, and I watch the harbour fire works every year. The ball drop at Times Square was the most underwhelming thing I have ever witnessed.

I can't imagine having to stand for hours in the cold wedged in between thousands of people. All to watch an electronic ball descend. What a nightmare.
Hong Kong has boats with fireworks, France had that crazy one with all the fireworks popping out, and New York has this. Depressing.

The fireworks happened later on. It was weird that it took so long to do them. They rather show ppl in lip locking moments then continue with the celebration. But, the fireworks almost seemed last minute.
We're not complaining it's just it could be better yes I know me and I believe other people are grateful for the year 2024 but we just basically just speaking on that the light up of the Year could be with more colors and brightness. The ball drop and the countdown of the celebration of the year is amazing but when the year is lit up it's a little on the dry side that's all.
