Other teams are studying this footage and the session with interest. You dont need a wind tunnel to guess. The spray is doing it all visualization wise.
Good idea, but I believe the spray mostly shows the tires displacing the water, and not necessarily what you would see in a wind tunnel.
@@hanbo123actually it shows a lot. You can see that the water don’t “disconnect” from the car. I think you are able to find a video on yt with last years cars in the rain, you can see the rb is way better than haas for example
@@VtxxIt shows way too little precise information. Merc not gonna be like „oh their ground effect actually works“ - cause thats what you described. They want to see the precise flow of air and the effect of each shape and bump, especially on the bottom of the car. This is way to rough for such information.
@@hanbo123 to a trained and experienced aerodynamicist. It shows so much more than you can see. Or those who arent trained can understand. I happen to have a college friend who is my best friend and is trained and does this for a living. And he informed me about a few things I didn't even know where happening but could then understand when he pointed them out on specific areas as the water (influenced by the air) was moving over the car. So yes. It's not a wind tunnel. But you can be assured experienced team members up and down the paddock were watching with interest at that session especially since it was wet.

I’m with you! I know a lot of romantics reminisce about the old V-12’s but the sound of that engine on the downshift is incredible! And the burst of acceleration coming out of the last corner seen here is phenomenal
What? Sounds like shit just like all F1 cars after the V8 era. They all sound weak and boring. I guess I could live in denial just like @scottmulholland1329.

Does this mean we have seen the livery? I'm new to f1

@@AvoraMate-df5jn They're pointing out how the rain-spray allows you to visualize the normally invisible outwash. If you don't know the difference between outwash and spray, you just don't know what you're talking about. They're drawing attention to how the current generation of cars doesn't blow a load of dirty air sideways making it hard to pass people.
For anybody wondering about that high pitched noise in the motor sounds, it's actually a fpv drone following the RB20. You can see the drone at 00:10 above the car (Red Props)
Dang, I thought the high-pitch F1 era was back 😔

That ridge on the engine cover going horizontally above the Redbull and Honda logos looks much more pronounced this year. It actually reminds me a bit of the Mercedes from last year that had an even more pronounced ridge so they must have been doing something right.
But that makes it even worse and shows that they really are lost, because they have not realised this themselves and got rid of it for this year, how painfull would it be if it turns out that the team you are chasing again wins thanks to a key feature you invented and got rid of.
I think we've finally reached the age where we van hear the transmission over the engine 😂
