Things were better when they were still doing 3 set blocks. 2011-2016 was prime, return to rav, Theros, tarkir, BFZ, shadows over innistrad. When they were doing the 3 set structure they had more time to fine tune the card design, lore etc. Now there’s just so little time between each release, every 2 or 3 months. There was a solid 7 months between Tarkir, the last 3-set block, and bfz. And while there was 3 months between gatewatch and the first half of SOI, I’d argue that SOI was sort of just a continuation of the BFZ block. Since then these sets just come too fast fr

It's a shame that none of the 80 new cards are good enough for anything beyond casual/mid power edh. The lack of content is the only thing you can't complain about with the set imo. It's not like any set in recent memory had 80 cards that will see the light of day outside of limited, if all of the new cards for assassin's creed were good then the set would be far better than lotr even with the low card count.
Im pretty happy with buying the singular box I got. Was able to pull all the cards I wanted from the set (Edward Kenway, the 5 color Ezio, and enough of the Legendary assassins to build a full commander deck) as well as my first ever Sword of Feast and Famine. Will I buy another... HELL NO! Probably going to buy singles of whatever I need for the Ezio commander deck.

Don't expect much from the next few sets. We're due for a drought, as far as set quality is concerned. There's some weird ideas about good cards vs bad cards within Wizards of the Coast R&D, and how many each set gets and when... usually has to do with how much product is sold.
It's belgium print. The foiling is gorgeous. I know sometimes the pulls aren't great. The true blessing is that you can afford to do this for fun. I'm happy for the two cases I'll open regardless. On the serial: playing a historic figure I think has a draw.
Hey Charlie If you can get your hands on it you should open a box or 3 of Ravnica Remastered. You would love that set and it’s not too old plus there’s lots of serialized cards
I was excited for this set... at least for one box lol. Got everything I needed in the booster luckily! 5 color assassins is something I really think ill have fun with in commander. Not as interested in Bloomborrow, but to each thier own.
The only thing I wished could be better with the set (other than the set being a "epilouge" set) is if Shay (Patrick) Cormac had gotten a Rare or Mythic instead of an uncommon. Hes my fav assassin and I wish he was better. Still pretty strong, but not what I was hoping for lol.
The most annoying part is that the few cards that i want from the set are the ones that keep the price up. Like i want temporal trespass, cover of darkness and conspiracy reprints, the sword reprints are also good, but of course those are the ones that dont crash completely.
I love the ac set the cards are practically worthless lol. I traded an Altair for like eight cards including a showcase Alexios (after seeing Mr. Drew use it in the ac box battle I added it to my Mathas, Fiend Seeker commander deck) and a showcase Shay Cormac (also great for the Mathas deck). Please keep the mtg vids running!

Every generation should experience a Fallen Empires Magic The Gathering experience. You'd leave the store depressed that it was all you could afford with your allowance. Then you'd open your packs and decide 1 pack of Mirage was a better purchase. I honestly can't believe people want a sealed box of Fallen Empires as a collectable.

They physically cannot print this little variation of cards with the amount of cards they want to sell. They want to sell so many packs, but the packs will never ever be varied enough for the players because there’s not enough types of cards. They have to have 135 cardsminimum

Part of becoming a Magic player is learning to hate UB sets and what they're doing to the game. Charlie is ahead of the curve, even if it's only because the value here is abysmal.
I personally like multiple UB sets. The Fallout and Warhammer 40k sets are pretty cool. I plan on building an Assassin's Creed commander deck as well since most of the cards from this set are super cheap. I really don't understand the hate for UB.

Enfranchised players enjoy Magic precisely because it's Magic, not an eclectic blend of unrelated IPs. It also doesn't help that, thanks to the nebulous state of reprints, UB is effectively establishing another Reserve List but it's still too early for anyone to care about that yet. Personally, I don't mind it whatsoever as an EDH supplementary product line, it's honestly a solid idea. But the notion of attending a sanctioned, competitive event and seeing characters from an external IP is just fundamentally unpalatable to me.
I think that UB only helps mtg as a whole, but what they should be doing is making less UB sets and whatever cards end of beinv used, i.e. one ring, orcish bowmasters, etc, should be reprinted as different cards in UW like what happened to chun li. Chun li got reprinted as a card with an exact stat line and text box and mana cost, but with a different name, so even when chun li wasn't allowed, the other card was. Sorry i forgot the name

WoTC really dropped the ball with this set and this style of booster pack. (Not the collector boosters, but the style similar to epilogue.)
