In the cath lab setting we are slightly different from the OR setting where everything should be kept aseptically possible. We no longer use brush when washing our hands but we wash our entire hands & arms using a technique to cover all areas. If you are doing 10 assist in a day, I'm sure your skin will be so dry & probably having breakouts already after so many brushing. Afterall our goal is just to minimize the pathogens that may be in our hands but there is no such thing as sterile hands LOL

Also you sound like Merle from the walking dead, were you chained up by the distal interphalangeal joint and had to cut your way out because zombies were approaching?! the gloves are sterile, the hands are clean. why are you saying the hands are sterile? You cannot completely sterilize the hands

The cuff is considered not sterile during open glove technique, for clean cases( ie D&C or D&E)
