    I have one gripe with these tests: obviously all the headsets are in a low bandwidth "mobile" mode, like f.e. talking over a smartphone. For testing methodology it would be nice if you also had the ability to test sound quality in HQ mode (talking over f.e. Cisco Webex or Microsoft Teams). These two modes are distinctly different, on the speakers AND microphone side. Just a hint. ✌️

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Před rokem +5

      Appreciate the feedback! We do these tests through a Windows computer on sound recorder, not sure if that makes a huge difference or not? We've tested on other apps like Zoom or Teams for example and the mic sound quality to us sounded the same. We'll add this to our future vivdeo list to record the audio on an app like you mentioned and you can tell us if the sound is different or not.

    I got a Poly8225 on the back of this test and... It simply doesn't block ANY outside noise on the call. Everyone can hear anything going on behind me. I made my test with a loud TV not human voices so it might be that but I'm very confused at the difference in results... at 230 CAD$ it's a bit of a disappointement....

      1. Did you purchased from an authorized reseller? (many gray market products sold online from unauthorized sources that don't perform the same)
      2. Have you done any troubleshooting?

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Před rokem

      @@simonlynch4204 Most products sold on Amazon are sold from a third party seller, and this is where we hear about most gray market products unfortunately. If you look at the sellers name in your past order, you'll be able to check if the seller is an authorized reseller here partners.poly.com/English/directory/
      Also, if you use Windows go to your start menu > Device Manager > sound, video and game controllers > within this setting see if you have anything relating to "intel smart sound technology". If so, disable this feature, restart your computer and give the headset another try.

      @@HeadsetAdvisor to the reality? ^^ I mean why don't they add a Bluetooth module, which is only used for the microphone? Which means two high quality channels are used for the headphone and one separate channel is used for the mic and if I connect only to a smartphone or similar it uses only one Bluetooth connection. I think this is the reason why the modmic has such a good quality (it uses it's own dongle).

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Před rokem

      @@8yter801 it’s unfortunately not how it works because these microphones have noise canceling software in the microphones to reduce background noise. With that comes a sacrifice of having the best possible voice quality.
      Whereas the Modmic doesn’t focus on noise cancellation and is why it sounds more natural than any microphone with noise cancellation. But then if you’re in loud environments callers will hear all the background noise, so it depends on your exact needs on which is the best way to go.
