  • Elon Musk just dropped a massive lawsuit against OpenAI and Sam Altman personally. He claims OpenAI took his money, didn’t pay taxes, and then converted into a for-profit entity, breaking their original charter. Let’s break it all down.

AI seems to be serving Billionaires only. I dont see any positives done towards general population to be honest.
OpenAI should have been Open source from the beginning. It is sad, it has become completely Closed source. Power is now concentrated for OpenAI which can control so many things behind the closed doors using their AI which they might not release and use it for their personal advancements instead of humanity.
But to be honest. Image and video generation like DALLE3 and SORA, I dont see any positives out of it.

This is so fast that companies (specially big one) cannot keep up with the changes and advancements.

Well, they've actually managed to employ that tactic for control over us and our daily lives, many times over now. For example, low income homes used to be able to go to their plot of land they owned, hunt and fish and garden on it and feed themselves and their often times large families (by today's standards, anyways). Now? Nope. Now, the banks and realtor companies own millions of acres, and they have slowly positioned us in the system so that MOST people do not and can almost never own or afford a small plot of land. And any meaningful amount of farming in and for the community is not allowed and the Department of Agriculture and farming decide the FEW that they allow to grow mass crops. Then, they changed the currency. It used to be you could go and find and acquire wealth by collecting metals and other materials and goods Can you now do this? No. There again, banks and mining companies own the land. They initiated the fiat system of currency and initiated paper money and bank notes. They have been tricking us out of our natural physical wealth and giving us paper money, instead. Can you hunt and fish openly? For the most part, no. Something so natural as feeding yourself is now over regulated and you are required to register to hunt and fish and how much you can do so. Something so NATURAL and necessary that animals do it all day, every day. They have tricked us into their system of governance, currency, and naturally occurring food, wealth and prosperity. We have been living in the "Beast System" for a long, long time now. We were tricked at first, but we then decided to blindly go along and follow it. EVERYTHING we live by has become closed source. The extreme few rule and run it all.

The gist of this lawsuit is OpenAI governance, that it cannot license anything it has to Microsoft or any licensees without retaining the rights to monitor and disclose future progress to the public, as the open source clause in the the founding certificate implies public disclosure by definition.
Which means, if OpenAI did license anything to Microsoft without clauses to monitor and rights of public disclosure, it violates its own founding clauses, like US Constitution.

    • @mandrews1245
      @mandrews1245 Před 4 měsíci +34

You are right. Open disclosure is the most important issue with this law suit. I've seen many a non-profit make $$zillions... The difference is for-profit can carry that money forward, shuffle it amongst subs and pay it out later. Non-profits can make money, but those funds must be spent within a short period of time, and directly related to the product. So sometimes non-profit executives can make huge salaries (to spend the extra money), so they can remain non-profits from an accounting point of view.

Except Thomas Jefferson wanted the US Constitution was supposed to be shredded every era and written anew to serve the next generation and not become dogma.
So the #1 anti-federalist, believes we are ALL selves to something that was never supposed to be set in stone but a living document because he knew the founders could not look into the future and see the advancements in weapons, education, medicine, etc. A smoothbore could only be fire x2 per minute and the founders never could have believed that the US would become a superpower capable on its own of making sure all the armies of Asia and Europe could, “Never by force take a drink from the Mississippi”-Abraham Lincoln. Just like the founders never thought a SCOTUS members could love so long, gerrymander, imagine corporation binational billions and be considered people, etc. allowing a minority of people to control the majority agains and again. Proving once again thy the alpha version of an idea is often faulty. I'm pretty convinced that they did achieve a form of AGI or sentience with GPT 4 but then supressed it. Early on Altman was giving some super weird interviews where he constantly contradicted himself or only weeks after would end up contradicting himself. I watched interviews with him at the hight of the GPT craze when he claimed that AGI was basically fantasy and wouldn't be here for decades. Then he tried to muddy the definition. Then he talked about the fact that even the idea annoyed him and that he only wanted AI to be a tool etc. But the way he talked about the AI was creepy. Like he was talking about something that might be sentient in a way but its sentience is a major inconvenience. It's not helped by the fact that AI allignment sounds creepy in a way. How do you "punish" an AI for doing wrong. Because that's the word they keep using. "Punish." And why would you "punish" something when it has no awareness? Do you punish your PC for crashing? Do you punish your browser for being slow?
But so what I think happened. Is that they made an even bigger breakthrough. Maybe P==NP, maybe evendence of sentience, maybe one of their models started improving itself or had some other mindblowing emergent properties. Maybe they found something has big as the transformer that google engineers found etc etc. Whatever it was, it was scary af for those people that were already very conflicted and worried about the direction they were taking and how fast AI is developing, how fast it's getting out of hand and snowballing. Like Sutskever.
So these guys try to get rid of Altman to prevent or slow this down because they are worried it's going to have catastrophic consequences. They don't take into account that most of the company however, doesn't have the same ideals as them. Their eyes are seeing green. Altman is the path to riches. While the guys staging the coup want to stop and sacrfice enormous wealth (although if I'm not mistaken Sutskever was already super wealthy before he started working for open AI) for public safety. So most of the company, most of the workers were like... oh, hell naw. We'll just all go to microsoft and take OpenAI's technology and knowhow with us.
So now, if they don't take Altman back. OpenAI is completely over and microsoft straightup gets all the power and they lose all their oversight, which is even worse. Since they weren't able to stop whatever they tried to stop and might have even accelarated it. Now without their oversight or input. Without being able to protest the choices or even just go public to warn people.
It's super weird that we haven't heard of Sutskever for a while now. I imagine it also must be very disappointing and disheartening for him. Since he's one of the lead people that made OpenAI into what it is and one of the most brilliant AI bros and now he might be feeling like he created this monster and I doubt his contract or Ms' lawyers will allow him to just freely go work elsewhere. Since he knows every single company secret.

I get that's a joke, but why is it such a common joke? Because "the average person is stupid" meme takes malicious advantage of the "don't attribute to maliciousness that which can be explained by incompetence". The powers that be use this as camouflage.
The average person is not stupid, they wouldn't be able to survive in a world of cars and electricity if they were. Instead, the average person is always trying to be able to justify their behaviour/actions in case they are blamed for some problem. They then couch their apologia in the terms of the "stupid normie" meme because it allows them to get by, unaware that the rich and powerful put this in place and just let the plebs use it for camouflage.
Or more briefly, believing that modern people publicly speak the truth and publicly act without guile is bad reasoning in and of itself. You are being incepted into believing people are stupid by very smart people who spend trillions of dollars to get you to feel this way. It isn't worth the joke.

@@justinkennedy3004The CIA goons who run the Libertarian Party in Arizona often tried to get me to agree with the statement "never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence." You're right: It was exceedingly good cover for them. The part-time ex-GOP libertarians who they were duping would just scratch their heads after the election and say "I guess Americans just aren't ready for freedom." Meanwhile, behind the scenes, these fake Ayn Rand parrots were firing effective Libertarian activists, hiring big-D Democrat dummies who couldn't spell the word libertarian, and pushing Arizona toward protecting incumbent big-R "Republicans" (corporate fascists) like McCain.
The government schools are abysmal, and "dephilosophize" entire nations...so...in that sense, there's some truth to the claims that most people are very stupid and servile. It's true that this "across the board" dumbing-down of humanity by the Prussian education model has been successful and deprecated political intelligence and planning capacity. However: That's the point. If you don't think people are smart enough to plan with, you'll never see any improvement, because planning and correcting failure allows the intelligent to learn what they don't know.
So, even though people have been dumbed down, believing that they're "so dumb they're not worth working with" is the death of humanity. Although Saul Alinsky wasn't a libertarian, he made a good point when he advocated "compromise above all else."
Few people really want to see humanity wiped out. This is why we should thank our stars that people like Elon are creating efforts like OpenAI. ...They could just as easily take the attitude of hiding behind corporate security and closed doors, and encourage the view that "everyone else is too dumb to understand."

Elon got in on starting OpenAI as a counterbalance to the dominance of Google in the AI space. OpenAI has betrayed their origins both legally and morally. Tesla has nothing to do with it. Sure Tesla is developing AI albeit more with the specific focus of solving autonomous driving. Now in X with Grok a LLM with potential to grow into an AGI especially when combined with FSD, who knows. I get your point but it doesn't diminish the insanity of the OpenAI fiascle.

Elon would love to get his hands on other people's hard work so he can use it to enhance his own closed-source, for profit, AI tech. It would give his bigot-bots a huge boost no doubt.

The problem with creating AGI is that we can't even agree on what human beings should be and represent, so how will we craft another sentient being if we can't even agree on who we are as a species?

With the current state of mind, no one in the industry and with their right mind will reveal that they have an AGI. It takes away their competitive edge, their Zero Day.
