- Sir Edward Elgar is renowned as England’s greatest composer, and it was the magnificent landscape around The Malverns that inspired so much of his music. Whether you’re a classical music fan or you just like to see the spectacular scenery that is The Malvern Hills, this film is for you, set to two of Elgar's greatest compositions..
Nimrod is the 9th (and best) of Elgar's 14 'Variations'. The beginning is laden with anticipation, starting quietly and getting louder to build expectation. He creates and resolves tension in the mid-part, then he lifts us up to our emotional peak, before calming things down, leaving us both relieved and emotionally exhausted. Fantastic!
'Pomp and Circumstance March', written in May 1901. it is the 4th of 5 Miltary Marches that were commissioned. it is full of the pride and swagger that epitomises Britain during the turn of the century.
A couple of drone shots were incorporated into this film, but the drone took off and landed from outside of the land controlled by The Malvern Hill Conservators, and at all times complied with CAA requirements. - Sport
It's been a long time since I walked the Malverns. Thanks for bringing back lovely memories.
My pleasure.
Nice film.
Thank you.
Oh….goosebumps galore. My favourite walk so beautifully captured, along with Elgar, stunning. Thanks. 🚂🚴♂️👣🇺🇦
Elgar will always be classy. The Malverns will always be beautiful. Thanks so much.
You're very welcome.
Where my heart is.
excellent! my back garden
Thanks. Wonderful place.
Beautiful 😍
So nice. Elgar is so emotional! And your film is beautiful.
Nimrod (the first one) puts a lump in my throat, and I can't explain why.
Great choice of music and images. There's a famous Ken Russell documentary in which Elgar bicycles over the malverns to the accompaniment of the Introduction and Allegro
I will check that out. Thanks for your comments.
Exceptional footage and music! Some years back (more than I care to remember) my wife was judging at a rare breeds sheep show in Shrewsbury (I think!) and while she was doing her thing I did mine. Which was to run the length of the Malverns and back. A memorable journey and thanks to Shropshire Hill Walks for bringing it all back to me.
Very impressive to run it, and back. Fell running requires high levels of stamina, fitness and athleticism!
I was a lot younger then! Thanks for your feed.@@shropshirehillwalks5343
as a son of worcestershire, made me feel alive.
I was born in Manchester but raised in Hanley Swan in Worcestershire, so I feel a huge attachment to the area.
@@shropshirehillwalks5343 feed the ducks a few times in Handley Swan. Went for a stroll up the W/Beacon today, breezy but clear and fresh.
As an expat (Australia) and a daughter of great Malvern, What a great production gives me goosebumps
Thanyou so much
You are most welcome.
I used tp live there... and never fed the ducks once. Shame on me.
Elgar is just amazing. I love his pieces so much and this scenery is gorgeous!! Thank you for posting.

Great video with fantastic scenery 👍
Thanks Brave Scot. It's a beautiful area. Elgar music works well I think. Have you walked the Malverns?
Brilliant production 👏🏻
Thanks for your appreciation!
Not a classical music person... but this is good 👍.
Elgar does seem to suit in this case.
I loved the video and your energy.
Beautiful place, great video. I could watch for hours.
You've gained another subscribed here... Looking forward to the next videos. BIG LIKE.
Thank you.
Your composition, Drone work and choice of music just gets better and better.
This Video is epic, the long shots add atmosphere, the fly arounds inject presence.
You fitted all of this to the music beautifully, very well done indeed.
Thank you for sharing your love of hill walking with Drone dexterity,
it all comes off in an aesthetically pleasing way. 🤞🤞🤞
Very kind comments. Any drone footage was taken several weeks earlier than doing the walks themselves, going to carefully selected locations that meant I could take footage without breaking any rules/regulations. The fly around shots are done with a 360degree camera on a 3m carbon fibre pole, and the software is clever enough to make the pole invisible... you often see the shadow though!
So as you appreciate, a huge amount of thought, preparation and effort went into producing these films. Thanks again.
This is so brilliant. How can I contact you?
Where next?
The rest of the Worcestershire Hills... Bredon, Lickeys, Clent, etc.
Who made this video and how can I contact them???
I am 'Shropshire Hill Walks'. What is your question?
