EA used a snippet of this video in the Madden 11 segment of their E3 2010 keynote press conference! More to follow.
This is something I've been meaning to do and upload onto CZcams for a while now. It is a few recorded clips of the ambulance from Madden 92 on the MegaDrive (or Genesis for US viewers) that comes on when a player is injured.
However, due to some bad programming the players who are not injured do not move out of the way of the ambulance and are mowed down... but get up to continue playing.
Nostalgic fun!

I've added in annotations of the teams playing in this video. If anyone could help with the possible players I will add them in too. I have only put in the names of the teams as they are in the game, hence no Eagles, Packers or Giants noted to keep this in line with the original game.

Hahaha yeah. Using a Genesis emulator with rewind/ffwd support, I often load a save state from an ambulance call and replay that over and over again.

The ambulance running over players is now the perfect representation of how EA treats NFL fans.
More like how the NFL treats NFL fans (and players). Not that EA is blameless, but the NFL doesn't want competition. EA cornering the market means they can do pretty much whatever they want to milk players for everything they're worth, which means more money for the league.

I about damn near burst into tears watching the ambulance again. Classic event from a classic game. I remember two injuries happening in the same play...Those poor guys just standing around stood no chance.

Fuck me, that would be awesome. I'm sure they wouldn't do it now because everything looks real. It would be great if some fans made a mod that includes this, though.
@@tommcdaniel9554 : The NFL itself is as much, or more, to blame. There's no competition because the NFL doesn't want any, and EA will keep its deal as long as it keeps hitting revenue targets.

This game was so much fun as a kid, the Ambulance added to that. i realized after several other Maddens that they would never be as fun as the old skools. it's a video game and the NFL/EA needs to realize this.
It's just a weird, uptight franchise now that takes itself entirely too seriously and caters to a demographic that plays nothing but sports games and FPSs. Back in the day, it wasn't so divisive. If people played Madden they still played shit like Mario, Sonic, Streets of Rage, etc.
At least they try to run over players from both teams equally.

My buddy and I absolutely loved zany stuff like this. We also loved late hits and getting back up after the play to see how kicks we could get in running with the ball until the next play. The game 'Super High Impact' Football took the injuries to another level.
I was 20yrs old in college at Regis University in Denver Co. I was playing this game, eating pizza huts bigfoot pizza, watching beavis and butthead, and fuckin everything that moved on campus!

This was the best football game ever. You could do late hits, and they didn’t even do automatic first downs! Plus Madden 92 inspired my unstoppable Fake Field-goal offense. I don’t know why this never took off in the NFL. Also it was in Madden ‘92 where I connected on a 113 yard field goal that fell on the sideline mid field but was declared “good” by the in game referees. So many fine football moments.
I remember my friends talking about the fabled ambulance and they would laugh just talking about it. I never saw it so it became a thing of legend to me. Now at the age of 41 I bought myself a used copy of the game all because of a memory of my friends telling their story and laughing about it. Good memory!

I used to love this game. I remember playing with the Dolphins against Green Bay in the superbowl, and GB scored with a few ticks left and I returned the kickoff for a TD and won with no time on the clock.

I used to love this game. I had one time where the ambulance came on field and drove off without picking up injured player. Then the ambulance backed up and picked him up. LMAO!

surprising! maybe it never happened to you. this was one of those things (as a 10 year old) all i cared about was hitting someone hard enough to trigger the ambulance lol
It happened to me back then, but it was very rare. If you didn't play the game fairly often, you wouldn't have seen it. Ever since seeing it, I'd play in the snow and hope that would make the ambulance more likely to show up, although I'm never sure if I saw a correlation in injuries or not, but it didn't stop me from trying!
Saving someone's life is a PRIORITY, no matter the cost.
In Madden 93, the ambulance sometimes forget to pick up the injured player and goes back to get him. That and Madden 92 are Classics.
