The beauty of scrapping isn’t only the money we make. It’s the cool stuff we find for free, and never having to buy hardly anything to build projects from!
that's for sure most of the melting setup is built from scrap
Melting is always so relaxing. One of these days when I get more settled, I need to set up my own rig! 😊👍🤞
yes, it is, fun to do too.
It's a good job for a chilly morning 👍
Been meaning to do this for years never seem to find the time .
Wow at the end you got a lot smoother and you're bars were beautiful you're getting much better at that five stars my friend thank you for sharing
Thank you kindly, I think that I had the crucible too full on the first pour, thanks for stopping by
When l first retired l never worked so hard in my life . I’ve slowed down a bit knowing I’ll never get everything done l want to get done .
Nice meltdown keep those videos coming
Thank you Caneron, I hope to get more done then I have been, I just need to get out of the house earlier
From one Okie to another, great video! I love seeing the waste oil use as part of the process too, we don't see that often in Oklahoma.
waste oil is cheap, I do my own oil changes, get oil from old mowers to, and I got a bunch from a guy at work
my fellow Scrapper I just wanted to tell you that I'm very grateful that I get to watch your videos and I very much enjoy them...im a subscriber for a long time keep it up buddy, stay safe Brother
love from the north country
Thank you, Tony, I was long overdue for a melting video, and I have a few orders for ingots, so I thought I better get busy, thanks for stopping by
I love the oil burner videos
Awesome and fantastic content...thx so much for the cool melting video.
✌👍👍👍😁
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you, and thanks for stopping by
It is I who thank you Alan.
🆒️
For some reason i like the other melting furnace more but this is also fun to watch
yeah it is fun watching things melt.
Always a pleasure watching your castings videos, thank you for sharing man 🙂👍
Glad you like them! I am going to try to get around to using the melting pot
Awesome, those melting videos are my favourite, I'm fascinated by your melting setup 👍👍
Glad you like them! I cut the center legs off the table today, now I need to shorten the pot a bit and move the handle down to get the water tank under the table. hope to have it up and melting soon
Awesome pour video. I've got to melt my aluminum horde. It's turned into a Scrapalanche.
I know what you mean, I have a big pile of aluminum to clean up, hopefully I can get to it soon my pre-retirement starts Tuesday
@@Okiescrapper happy retirement.
awsome job and great melting, ;)
Thank you
Love the video
Thank you
It looks like this melting pot keeps you hopping!
there is a few minutes between pours, I did about 17 lbs. in 3 hours
I love doing that
it is fun, I was out there for about 3 hours, Thanks for stopping by
If you dump the smelted and dump it into another drum of water, the slag and ash should float while the aluminum drops clean.
Really neat process you have there. One minor thing is your microphone doesn't pick up your voice when you are close to the burner, making it very hard to hear your comments. Great & entertaining otherwise
yeah I need to yell to get over the burner noise, I could type it into the video when I get more time to edit videos
That just looks so fun.👍👊✌️😎
it is fun, I melted with the melting pot today, about 30 lbs. of cupcake ingots.
@@Okiescrapper DANG! That's a load Okie. You must have been wore slap out. 👍👊✌️😎
A friend good job
Thank you
IMHO, I see so many work at melting a full crucible for ingots and such like it's that important when the often result are poor, irregular ingots until the level of metal in the crucible gets down to a manageable level. Why not start with a manageable level to begin with? The melt time for using lower levels of metal can't be that much more, can it? I can understand using full crucibles for sand casting though.
nice bite,of work there i, hope,it all,,pays off in the end thank you for sharing 😊
thank you, thanks for stopping by
Nice set up.. have u done a build video on this burner ?? I really want to melt stuff lol
I show the build in the first video in the oil burner play list
I use a old metal coffee can to melt aluminum in. Lol.
whatever works, they are cheap, but I heard melting in iron will put iron into the aluminum and as I planned to resell to people who cast items, I wanted to keep it as clean and pure as possible. thanks for stopping by
Nice melting video . It's 39 degrees in Alaska
not to bad I know sometimes it is warmer up your way then it is here
I watched someone spay his mold down with a bit of wd30. I caught fire a bit but provided carbon for an easy release.
I have some graphite powder that I could dust them with
Just watching you pour, if you had the moulds on the outer edge of the table closest to you, could you pour with the crucible overhanging the grass but closer to the moulds so as to avoid the dripping and splashing maybe giving you better control , just a thought I've never poured molten metal
I will have to try that next time, thanks for the idea
Where do you sell your melted ingots most places want buy it because of those putting other heavier weight in the middle to get more for it . There should be a calculation for size of ingots so weight is with in a tolerance for pure material melted.
eBay you have guys doing sandcasting and other that are stackers
Try pre heating your moulds and it should help the ingots release better.
I do preheat them. but a good Wack gets them out. they may come out easy if they cooled more, I may need to get 2 more molds and let them cool longer
OK I've looked for your playlist how do I find the playlist on building the burner
under the video click on my name and it will take you to my channel page and from there you can chose playlists czcams.com/channels/Wqp307y3Ur0rRJjcQJsPRA.html
love iT
Thank you
There is a lot of aluminum ingots on ebay for sale. I suppose the only way to ship cost effective is use a flat rate Priorty mail box. If it fits it ships for a certain price.
yeah I can get 10 lbs. into the flat rate padded envelope, and 36 .lbs. into the medium flat rate box
Can you tell me how you build the burner
here is the link to my playlist page, look for oil burner playlist czcams.com/users/Okiescrapperplaylists the first video shows the old layout of the plumbing, I have a newer video where I rebuilt it with a few less fittings, hope this helps
You should put one scorpion into each box of stackers you sell.
good idea, I was thinking about a bunch in a lot but someone may not want that many
Can you sell these ingets online as fast as you list them? or is it kinda slow going?
I haven't tried online yet I have had a few guys contact me about ingots. but I think they will sell good
i would coat those molds with borax to help it release better. it acts like a flux
I could dust them with graphite powder
@@Okiescrapper yeah, but borax is way cheaper! lol
What size is the crucible? It looks huge
this is the one that I use www.amazon.com/dp/B07JLGDKJK?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzallenhar-20&creativeASIN=B07JLGDKJK&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.35A7I3E8G3UT3&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_mixed_d_asin

Do they consider that clean If you take it to the yard
from what I have heard most yards won't take them they can't tell how pure it is, I sell mine on eBay $2.00 a lb. plus shipping, I have a 10 lb. lot and a 36 lb. lot on Ebay now
How do you get a siphon from your waste oil container
using a siphon nozzle and compressed air. check out the oil burner play list
@@Okiescrapper I watched it but must have missed the answer to my question. I did order the siphon nozzle. I have blowers but no compressed air.
Ha-How brother
thanks for stopping by John
What # is that crucible? I see they sell them by number size.
I think it is the #4 6 kg there should be a link to it on my amazon page www.amazon.com/shop/okiescrapper?listI
@@Okiescrapper thanks. that link didnt work
@@pl747 try this one www.amazon.com/ideas/amzn1.account.AEFVOKINNKF2EC3TBBDX3MAAOJCA/13VZQNFMFNK4P?type=explore&ref=idea_cp_vl_ov_d
Re melt your dros I always melt down mine and I get more aluminium
yes I need to, I have 3, 5 gallon bucket full, it's cool enough now to fire the burner back up now, and I need to make some lead sinkers too
Seems one big pour would look better than the smaller size . Your not getting a exact weight anyway
the smaller size may work out better for the guys buying the ingots. no telling what size crucible they may be using or how big of a casting they may be making, so they may like a small ingot, and they can add more if needed
Junior bibil Bom dia 🌹🤗
good morning
😁
Do you remelt the stuff you skim off the top? I believe your cruciful is to small 🤣 🤣 🤣. What do you do with the bars you make?
no most of it is waste I just put it in with the shred. the ingots I sell on ebay
You need a better holding tool to pour with. Check out Myfordboy. He has instructions on fabricating wonderful tools for use with crumbles
