I just checked on the DVD. Season one episode 9. They cut to that angle twice and yes he is just standing there plain as day! Right before the Skipper says if I go gilligan you go too! Right after that scene they show him again. 2 or 3 seconds each time and yes he is dressed just like the Skipper. Great find! That was fun!

The biggest blooper that went throughout the whole run of the series is the radio. 1- Since when does an AM radio need an antenna? 2. in one episode the Professor rigged up the exercise bike to recharge the batteries. The building in the end credit is Studio 2. It was the sound stage for all the cabin shots. The lagoon was the only part outdoors. It's a backlot and they were limited to shoot times as there were homes and a highway literally next door. They also had to contend with aircraft flying overhead, basically noises not conducive to a deserted island.

The person who was sitting in the chair who gets hit in the head by Mr.Howell was Alan Hal who just happened to be walking past at the time the scene was being shot. Several sat for the scene effect double invluding most of the cast members and myself ( 14 years old and too short for the camera to pick up the top of my head). There was a strike at the time and no one wanted to be shot in the scene until the strike was over. Alan broke the rules and sat for the scene.

Sometimes I think they show buildings on season 1 also. They always show a background of the island. But to me I look on the left and see what looks like
a building, a peaked roof or something, maybe a golf course?

Yes I agree my fav too is the mysterious extra person on the set! But even as I watched this show as a young child i did notice more than once bloopers that showed some of the studio buildings. You actually showed one in one of these I did remember. :D

Seeing the "The Big Gold Strike" HD on a flat screen and noticing the man on the beach in the background. When these episodes were being filmed, the TV's back then didn't have that extra outer edge. I noticed the same type of errors on "The Twilight Zone" episodes. Season 4 Episode 16, "On Thursday We Leave for Home" you can see the microphones in the bottom of the screen. Kind of cool to see the bloopers.

A good one I think you missed is the Christmas episode where they remember getting shipwrecked, and a fish eating the transmitter. There’s a shot where they wake up on the boat, and it’s the highschool teacher and the secretaries from footage recycled from the pilot, instead of the Professor, Ginger and Mary Ann.

Vitto Scotti had another, creepy role in a different episode. I think he was also the mayor of Volta Fiore, the Italian town where McHale's Navy was based after leaving Taratupa in the Pacific.

  • @OverTheTopChristmasLights

During the blooper at 4:00, I found it interesting that the raft did not sink in the middle where the gold was it sank because the outer edges of the raft deflated. If the gold was the reason then the raft should have gone down but yet the boxes with gold stayed on the raft without sinking. You might have mentioned this before and I did not catch it. What is your thought on this?

Rick, Thanks so much for sharing all you share. The sand castle..just hit me..,he could have been making it in another cove like the one where he said he found the pearls in the big gold strike. I love the way you think about the island and finding rational answers! I used to do that more as a reflex when I would watch it when I was growing up…then freshman year in college I found a book that had a section on GI snd it had a subsection of “surrealism on the island”…obviously I still love doing it - finding rational reasons for done stuff

Rick - one blooper missed is at the end credits. If you look at the water, there is a wake coming from the position closest to the shot. Whether it is a boat with camera crew or a platform, it is clear the water around the lagoon is calm except from the angle of the camera.
Good callout on the building, I never noticed.
The creepy guy was supposed to be there, he is from Oceanic Flight 815 (haha)

The most Stark one I noticed was one in Little Island Big Gun I think,, Skipper, Gilligan and the Professor were tied up on cots and when they managed to stand up the Skipper's ropes dropped off so he had to hold on to the cot as he walked to hut door while all his ropes were dangling. Had he just let go of the cot he would have been free.

I still think one of the strangest things that roughly might be considered a blooper is the fact that in one or two episodes, they used an electric record player even though there was no way to power it. I think once was during the beauty contest episode. Usually they used a wind up record player made from parts of the SS Minnow, certainly a more plausible (if still unlikely) premise.

The biggest blooper in the show is how much stuff they had with them after being shipwreck considering the size of the boat and the fact that it was only a three hour tour! Why would anyone pack so much clothing, money, etc for just a three hour trip?🤪

In the earlier episodes of the opening credits these would be the B&W episodes if you look up in the upper left of the airial shot of the island of which I believe they shot the pilot in Hawaii you can clearly see buildings breaking the outline of the jungle up on the ridge.

The karate fight stunt doubles reminds me of the original Star Trek fights. Stand ins that look nothing like the actors, but filmed quickly and with some editing. As for the strange man: there were so many people visiting the island, it could just be another "castaway" landing on the island and managing to escape without our gang. :)

    • @imkluu
      @imkluu Před 4 lety

There was a script written where the castaways find the wreck of an old USO ship and are able to get a lot of the things form it before it sinks or drifts away. but the producers thought that it wasn't needed to explain anything, that no one would care where they got all the clothes and other things that they have on the island.
