They Probably under arrest him for a month after check his audit if it's clean and then free him and have a normal life except he doesn't allow to have a job at the border again. Thats why it's the ending because you doesn't have border check job again

At that point, you had several interactions with Ezic (like you referred to), but you didn't inform the Ministry. You had no choice of course, but it doesn't matter.
Knowing about a person or organization that does illegal things, but not reporting them to the authorities is considered a crime even in the US - especially if said person or organization actually hurts the country in any way -, so this ending, though unjust, is pretty legit.

When you live in a system that tolerates, encourages, and even, to an extent, requires dishonesty, don't be surprised if you get into trouble for performing an honest deed! Everybody looks at themselves before they judge others and if your gut instinct tells you, that you would lie, cheat or conspire, you automatically assume others would do the same.

When I got this ending the first time, I didn't understand why. This was probably intended by Lucas Pope, as the purpose is to give insight to the inconsistent rule under an authoritarian system. Like under Stalin, people who were nothing but loyal did get punished due to systemic paranoia and a "need" to find enemies of the state even where they didn't exist.

Trying to be the good man...Only to be punished. No wonder. we lie, and be dicks...Just to survive.
The least of this bad ending is. The fella might NOT be punished. But are forced, to never have a border based job again. And as such. Be given a new job, that will pay the bills like before. Just a different profession... Should that be the case. Then It's a major inconvenience to the honest person...But the fella will be a okay.

It's a communist country. The least bad of the ending is that he is executed instead of being sent to a gulag to be worked and tortured to death. They'll probably do it before they even finish the audit. Even if the audit turns up nothing, he'll still be sent off or executed. They'll probably do the same to his entire family.
