Kingdom Hearts III: Traverse Town - New World Mod Teaser

- This is a teaser for a mod in progress. The mod aims to bring Traverse Town to Kingdom Hearts III in as near of quality to official DLC as possible. You're able to fly to Traverse Town on the world map, use save points and moogle shops (among other things) like in normal worlds, use full flowmotion in all the new areas, fight enemies, find hidden collectibles (trinity marks, postcards), and much more! The first release will feature just the first district and it's shops, but more updates will bring more areas like other districts and interiors. The mod will be available on the Nexus when ready.
All new assets were created by me from the ground up, except the plants which were brought over from the Twilight Town map in KH3. The KH1 Traverse Town maps were redesigned in a KH3 artstyle, using zBrush, Maya, Blender, and Substance.
All coding and logic work is being done by Critic, who this wouldn't be possible without.

This is??? Unreal???? I've been consistently impressed by your progress updates on Twitter, but seeing it all laid out like this is fucking unbelievable. You just! Created Traverse Town! It's gorgeous, and the attention to detail really elevates the whole project. I can't wait to see the full release!

I would actually like a fully explorable Traverse Town. Considering it's origins, it must be a really big world and i would like to explore all of it. And since it's not a world where you follow a film, the creators can go all out.

Don't forget the areas of Traverse Town from DDD. If they're gonna make a Traverse Town mod they should make all the areas you've been to from KH and DDD.
The fact that this iconic world has only appeared on KH1 and DDD is completely infuriating. This was my favorite world in KH1, and coming back in DDD felt like coming back to a comfy zone. I needed it so bad in KH3.

Fans want a couple of things:
- Exploring Destiny Island
- Exploring Traverse Town
- Exploring Twilight Town fully (including train station, beach, and other parts)
- Seeing Sora kiss Kairi
Don't forget explorable Radiant Garden as well.

This makes me so unbelievably happy. Traverse Town has always been one of my favorite KH locations. So sad it's been so underused compared to other hubs, which are still great of course... but there's just so much charm and nostalgia to Traverse for me. Can't believe how good this looks already!!

i love this, nothing beats KH1 for me, the vibe and the pace works so well . kh3 is sped up like 3x running speed so it looks so jarring when you run in traverse town . i would need to mod the speed to slow that down, kh3 always felt like it was on LSD

As an idea you can keep opened some doors to travel over districs KH3 can manage bigger rooms than KH 1, 2 and DDD so you can use that to do the best version of traverse town
This is the plan once it's all modeled, already set up the systems for it :) Interiors (shops, etc) will need a load screen, but other stuff won't.

Its sad when fans mod KH3 to make the game better when the developers had 10 years to do all the things fans wanted. A fan modded the Colosseum tourneys, this Traverse town mod looks fantastic props to everyone who made fantastic mods!

Just putting it out there but if you ever were thinking of making a fully voiced wee quest line for the town, I do voice over professionally for video games and would love to help out. Can do a TON of the male final fantasy characters as well as others. also have a network of other VA's that'd probs love to help if you like.
Modders are making fully integrated World mods like this now? The future for KH 3 modding was always bright but it's looking even crazier right now.
Could easily have a KH 1 remake mod at some point at this rate.

There's something so hauntingly beautiful about seeing heartless that abundant in the 1st district. That district was always the safe haven in the games. By the way, what an incredible mod. So excited to see the final version.

KH1 districts + one optional DDD area. I didn't particularly enjoy the DDD additions so I don't have motivation to model them, but after release if someone wants to make their own add-on for it, I'll let anyone make add-ons for this :)

This looks soooo good! The real question though, is that is this the Traverse Town from KH1 or the bigger, more expanded one from Dream Drop Distance? Also what world does it replace and is this mod for PC or only console?
Console mods like this aren't possible, PC only! It does not replace any worlds or anything in the game at all. It'll be KH1 focused with one optional DDD area.

I don't know about other KH fans but for some reason I'm fine with Traverse Town not being in KH3.
That's not to say that this is a terrible mod, it's a great mod. What makes this specific mod so fantastic to me is that it acts an actual world in the Gummi ship Galaxy map, going near the world only to be stopped and given the option to land that's so cool. Someone should do this for other world mods I have in mind. Disney Town/Castle, Radiant Garden, maybe even Mysterious Tower.

Two things. 1. Any chance an early access look is available, just to roam around the first area?
2. In regards to the additional areas you plan to add, is each game going to be separated like in the first game? Or are you trying to make a seamless map where Sora can just open the door and walk right to the next area without a load screen/transition?
Early access builds are up on the OpenKH modding discord and there only! If you don't want to join, don't worry- the first release of this isn't far off!
Also, the outdoor areas will be connected with no load screens! Interiors (shops, houses) will require a load screen, but that's about it!

This wouldnt have been allowed before KH3. I remember a YTer doing these things in UE4 and got a C&D notice. EntheOriginal was forced to have his videos removed and deleted. I do not know what changed.

It kinda makes sense that traverse town won't return cause everyone in traverse town lost theirs world and after Ansems defeat everyone returner so that means it's gone that means that traverse town is a homeless world kinda
I know this is a remake of KH1 traverse town, but would it be possible to add any sort of mickey emblems to it?

I said something about this on twitter as well, But do you plan to do any Dream Drop Traverse stuff?
I didn't personally like the DDD maps much, so I don't really have the motivation to do model and texture them all. I'll be including one secret area from it but anyone else in the community is welcome to make the other DDD areas as an add-on if they want!

Unfortunately, this beta version has bugs that can corrupt your game/save and softlock you from playing if not used carefully at the moment. It'd be a lot safer for people's games if we wait until it's finished/bug fixed, which is what we're working really hard on getting to right now!
