He didn't leave Ethan there on purpose. He was supposed to be taken somewhere safe, but Miranda was posing as Mia's dead body in the truck. She transformed, and destroyed the truck and took Rose

LOL when Chris reprimanded Ethan for getting into his business right before Moreau attacked, and here before Heisenberg, I just kept thinking: 'dude, this 'helpless civilian' just survived dozens of Lycans, killed several of Heisenberg's Soldats and Propeller Guy, killed 3 Lords that had vestiges of Miranda's powers, 2 Giants, 3 giant werewolves and 1 big werewolf man. Ethan is practically doing Chris' job for him lol'
@@cainyourkids I think thatâs because Chris has been trained to see everyone who isnât in the military as defenceless and in need of his protection, but now that heâs seen how far Ethan has gotten, and that heâs still willing to eagerly keep fighting, he realized, âOh, this guy isnât a weakling, who just got lucky and cheated death a few times. This guy actually knows how to handle himself and he can deal serious damage if heâs given the right equipmentâ. That smile was kind of like an informal way for Chris to say, âWelcome to the gang of bioweapon huntersâ, to Ethan.

Chris should have known Ethan was exceptional for surviving the Baker Incident (I beat RE8 and know about Ethan's predicament but still) and even gave him militarized training. He definitely isn't an ordinary citizen, and the way he acted in the beginning just felt forced and dickish to me imo.
@@cold_Lightning9 Chris probably assumed that Ethan just got lucky, and thatâs how he survived The Dulvey Incident. The reason heâs so dismissive towards him at the beginning is because, up until the moment where Ethan showed that he was ready to take down Heisenberg and Miranda, he considered Ethan to be a civilian who thought that he was a tough guy, so he developed a bit of a condescending and disrespectful attitude towards him. But after Ethan managed to kill 3 of the Lords, as well as around 100 Lycans and other creatures, Chris finally accepted that Ethan wasnât just lucky, but that he actually had enough grit and strength to be a legitimate threat to bio weapons.

I knew something was off when Mia was reading that weird story to Rose. Now that means his daughter is going to be jacked up. I knew Chris would do the right thing.
The way she told it was strange as well, she sounded very into it and quite scary. definitely didnt sound like a "Local tale" that she hadn't read before.

Yeah, he made some big mistakes, but at least heâs still a good guy. Besides, this isnât the first time heâs tried to keep a civilian he cares about out of bioterrorism business (Claire).
@@PerfectKirby I did enjoy the different way he goes about it here, though. Chris for most of the series has always had his heart in the right place, he's the Hero's Hero kinda guy. He'd stand in front of an army of zombies to save people, and he'll stand up to his superiors for what he believes is right (e.g. Wesker). I really like how disillusioned and cynical he has become here in the sense that he's doing all these things to protect the Winterses, but he's doing it in a very underhanded and secretive way - which probably wouldn't be what the early Chris Redfield would do (RE1 Chris would definitely hate not telling Ethan about the entire thing and just watching who he thought was his wife get murdered), but still does it because it's for the best. Really shows the damage and impact of so much history that has caused.

Given the plot twist, couldn't Miranda have impersonated Chris and actually killed Mia? Ethan being delivered to the village could be deliberate. Miranda could have brought him there to be tested or fully awaken his latent power. Miranda would also want to frame the private militia group gunning for her.
This would have worked better than Chris making every attempt to look like a villain for God knows what reason.

God, this part was so satisfying. I was worried that Chris would only show up as a boss fight, or Ethan would kill him or something. I really like that this game and Re7 leave some story points subtle, but also have scenes like this and the Jack Baker conversation near the end of Re7 to explain what's going on in greater detail. Continuing the Mutamycete storyline and keeping Ethan and Mia at the center of it was a great choice. I really hope RE9 follows Redfield and Winters taking down bioterrorists. The series really feels like its close to coming full circle in a way, all they need to do is work in Wesker.

Edit: the joys of watching cutscenes out of order. It can lead to some fun dead ends (and would have been a touch twisted if this were actually the case).

He also mentions he had to move in and get them out quick, mostly because he was worried about Ethan possibly being affected, so he couldnât tell him right away, he needed to get him on the truck and out to make sure he wasnât affected before he told him everything
if miranda was actually dead the plan would have worked since she wouldnt have taken rose, and chris could handle the village on his own with his men not getting ethan in danger
It's just a badly written scene to have a plot twist twist near the end, Chris fought dozen of bow but somehow think some bullets would be fine with this one

Because that would defeat the purpose of setting up the reveal that Chris wasn't evil like the opening or the trailer made him look like. It's a bit contrived, but that what makes games sell. A little bit of mystery.
An easy way to a big "reveal" later. And weird way to make chris look interesting, even got me interested and I've always thought this character is plain boring.

I feel like if they started coming by Miranda would have gotten suspicious of what they were doing. The last they need is for her to mutate and go nuts. And it'd be kinda of hard to grab them in the house without her noticing. But yeah, they definitely could of handled it better.
Or go full commando, "kill" miranda but then just say flat out "Ethan that wasn't your wife, we need to get you and your daughter to safety"
