Get past people is not about how fancy or acrobat you are, is about the acceleration, reaction and strength. When you look at messi, robben or others pro, they dont need a lot of crossover, drag back etc. Just a body faint, and then accelerate with your quad and protect with your body strength.
Dribbling past a players in a 5 aside or 11 a-side is different (easier) to dribbling past someone 1v1 with nobody else involved. I 1v1 you need to do something to make the othe player lose their balance or go the other way; a drag back, step over or feint etc.
yeah i agree. they’re used to people biting, whereas he just waited for them to commit. not one of them tried to go direct. they all lost all their momentum trying 50 stepovers first.
The different is too big. I remember playing futsal with pro GK in my country yet he dribble like pro futsal player. No matter what their position is, as long as they are pro, they are far more comfortable with ball than us
@@andyangchannel not sure about his finishing bcs he love to assist but hes a solid dribbler in that game. He play for national team that time so hes at his peak.
Same with my cousin, he played GK when we were young and he somehow ended up going pro at midfielder and played for 10 years in europe (romania, bulgaria, cyprus and then went to qatar) and played for our national team (gabon). people don't realize even a pro goalkeeper is much better than you on the ball
Balance and acceleration difference is massive. Even if get him past with some skills or movements, getting caught up within 2 steps at most. No chances
Freestyle is very different from playing on the field.. you can see he is not as light-footed as someone who frequently plays an 11-a-side.. worse is he is up against a pro defender who plays in Europe.
No worries. But at least you learned. Some people still think that their amateur ahh could actually keep up with the pace and skills of a pro game. Lol. At least you thought these tricksters could do it and not a random amateur guy... Still, there's a reason why we don't see these guys making millions. They just can't do it. Their tricks are not even enough to become a situational role player.
@@raul5081 plus in a real pro game you will have at least 3 other defenders supporting the one that's going one-to-one on you and almost certainly someone behind him. By the time you do these tricks, you would have lost the ball 3 times, also given that defenders do not tend to play so "clean" like in this demonstration. At minimum, they would be pushing your shoulder all the time.
Those first 2 or 3 meters of explosion after you make a good move as a striker are key. The defender is always with his back to the goal so if you can get to the ball after getting him to shift his weight, you're in good shape. Some of these guys can have a future with the right fitness and strength.
The Messi player has mad talent he’s already explosive and quick with his low center of gravity imagine if he got proper strength and conditioning coach from a club
well pointed out. this is a critical element that many amateur players ignore, even or maybe especially those pro level freestylists. they concentrate too much on using their ball skills and fancy footwork to get the ball past the defender, but they forget they themselves have to go past the defender also. the ball must go past the defender and your BODY must also go past the defender. otherwise, as you can see here, the defender will just step between you and the ball and block you off. apart from foot skills, you should use body feints to fool the defender into putting his weight in the wrong direction or at least be able to quickly shift your body weight to go past the defender yourself. look at how basketball players go past their man. they constantly shift their weight back and forth, back and forth. not being able to do that is fatal, no matter how good your ball skills.
This is absolutely correct. I was a very gifted athlete when it came to top speed, jumping and strength but my initial acceleration and agility was lacking which meant I was useless against more suitable athletes
It can't be seen well in the video, but Gunther after he got stopped in the second attempt, suffered a major injury. He made a video about it, and he had to be operated because of it. I haven't watched his videos for a long time, but I loved watching his amazing skills back then. I hope he will recover soon from that injury ❤❤❤
Oh thats interesting-It must of been an old injury? plus his fitness level at the time especially compared to bakker. Because in the slow motion it's hard to tell what was the cause of it as there was no foul at all. its like something gave way

To beat a good defender you can’t do all of those moves. You need to go at him with speed, pick which direction you’re going diagonally left or right ONCE, and get the shot off.
Messi of Bergiamo and that guy were definetively at pro level, I think atletism and workout makes a huge difference in explosiveness and thats were Bakker were key
I haven't seen the video yet, but in these 1vs1 scenarios you never take into account the multiple passing lanes you have to defend or antecipate and it's easier for the defender because there is only 1 threat

I don't have the skill to get past him, but theoretically what I would have done to have the best chance and what I'd advise the next partecipants to do is to just ran at high speed to the defender and then do one/2 changes of directions but not more, and try to get him planted on one side. If you try to do that with skills at slow pace it's not gonna happen, or am I wrong?
Some of the amateurs actually has very good footwork and at amateur level they would be crushing defenders. Just goes to show how tough it is to become a pro footballer.

Look at how Bakker only touched the ball 5 times before getting past his man. When you're truly good, simplicity is more than enough.

7-8 touches*
body feint
He's so much quicker and stronger than these children. No amount of fancy tricks can make up for such a big difference in size, strength, and speed.
He is way taller so he can afford to do that
The fact that the Atalanta defender was going easy on those kids makes you realise how much difficult and challenging professional football is
