    I didn't want him to leave at all. I considered him the only successor to Klopp's Liverpool. However, his decision is completely understood and all his actions for the club are more than appreciated. YNWA Pepijn

    He's the perfect successor to Klopp, don't know why he was not up for consideration, he was a major part of our success, he knows the players, he knows our philosophy which he helped create. Him leaving is an indicator that club doesn't want him to be our next manager and it's really baffling. Anyways good luck for your future Pep and thank you! YNWA

      True but sometimes loyalty trumps anything and everything hence why it worked so well. Big respect as this is the first time in my life I see a manager who does so well leaves with everyone and everyone is in agreement. Really hope people can see the human side to who these guys really are

      he is still under contract until the end of the season..so he wont or cant say much. but once his contract ends, i think he is open for offers, if the club give him one…

      The success rate of such a promotion is really low in professional football so i don’t think it makes logical sense to promote him to top spot

      Nope - for a few years now I’ve thought he would be the obvious choice to take over should Klopp leave. I’m old , I remember we always used to promote from within , we knew who the next manager was …Paisley, Fagan, Dalgleish, Souness, Evans.

      He may not have wanted it. Sometimes assistant managers are supposed to be assistant managers and they enjoy being in that role. Stepping up to be the actual manager is a huge step up.

      @@j606ywt I don’t think he would, his role model said ‘never another PL club’ and pep knows that he’s better off aiming to build a legacy without stepping on Liverpool’s toes. I think maybe Brighton if de zerbi leaves, potentially a midtable or relegation candidate but he’s better off in Holland or Germany. To me he’s the perfect fit for a number of German clubs. He could even be considered as an Alonso replacement if xabi comes this way but that’s likely too big. Honestly I want him at Schalke, he could so easily be the guy to take on that project long term

      While I certainly dont undervalue his work at Liverpool he has very little experience as a 1st team coach so he's not my favorite Xabi Alonso already is proving he is the real deal so he has to be the top choice given his ties to the club as well

      Because it’s like a tribute band , if he stayed on he would always be compared to Klopp but isn’t Klopp , just like when you go see a tribute band they get compared to the real thing but they are not the real thing , it would be madness for him to take the job just after Klopp.

    He was so unlucky in Holland at NEC coaching under tough circumstances. Much as i would have wanted him to stay im glad he has taken this step to challenge himself at different club a young coach with super bright ideas, will closely follow his coaching journey.     You can see from everything he says and how he talks, and from his facial expressions, how much he doesn't want to leave. A man's heart is broken. I think more and more that the owners played a lot of role in this. I'm not saying that Klopp was lying about not having enough energy anymore, he was certainly being honest, but I simply have the feeling that something else is hiding behind the door and not just energy thing.
