If you want to see one where every one of them shines, then react to their version of Amazing Grace (My chains are gone). Every member sings in that one and it is pure perfection. Seriously, there is no better version.
And if you want to see what Avi is really capable of watch Change On The Rise from 4 years ago and contrast that with Healing which he just released. They are both originals.
We have to check that one out
Kevin usually sings in songs with some type of religious content by his choice!😊
Love the way they do Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone! I cry the whole way through it, everytime! Truly beautiful!! Everyone of them shines in this song! They're a very talented group! You need to view this video, cause you will be blowned away!!
When Mitch says “you kiss the face of god” and “the great I ammmmmm” 🥹❤️EVERY-TIME.
Beautiful
Good reaction guys. Their recent release Pure Imagination/ Christmas Time Is Here is just captivating. Who would have thought that those two songs could sound like they should have always been sung together?!
Thank you ☺️ Pure Imagination is on our channel
Great reaction to one of my favorite PTX covers. To just begin appreciating Kevin's musical genius, your minds will melt reacting to some of Kevin's solo work to start with his cover of 'Down' It is brilliant!
Kevin's mind doesn't work like the rest of us mere mortals. Multi instrumental (classically trained on cello and saxaphone, played Carnegie Hall twice as a teenager with these instruments and plays other instruments as well); brilliant producer, composer and song writer; coined the term cello boxing with his ability to beatbox and play cello simultaneously; beautiful pitch perfect tenor vocal; multi lingual to include fluent Mandarin; courted by every ivy keague school in the nation (ended up a pre med Yale graduate on his way to med school to become a cardiologist like his father when Scott invited him to join their group to compete on the Sing Off). He is a musical genius.
His cover of “Down” is a masterpiece!!! 👌🏾👌🏾
I knew he was talented but that blew my mind.
Thank you for sharing
Kevin Souls - K.O. - stands for knock out.

Great reaction, guys!! The song was written by Mark Lowry in 1984 and the music written by Buddy Greene in 1991. It's been done by a few artists over the years but it was not as popular as the usual Christmas hymns and carols...until PTX made it so. It was filmed in the Bronson Caves in LA. The original site of the Batman Caves used in the old series. Since they'd only be lip-syncing when filming, reverb and such would have been done in the studio before or after filming was done.
Yeah, I knew it as an Amy Grant song back in the 90’s
Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd also released this song as a duet back in ‘96, I believe.
There is a cover of Mary Did You Know by another group - Voctave - that features Mark and is beautiful!
Thank you for the kind words and information ☺️
Mary Did You Know is a Christmas song we sang in our church for years.
Thats beautiful
What most don't know is that (for Pentatonix fans from the beginning) this was one of the first, if not the first, times we ever heard Kevin sing. Previously it was all beat-boxing and cello, maybe background vocals. So it was kind of the first time we really heard him sing on his own.
Thats impressive
Written by Mark Lowery, a Southern Gospel singer/comedian who sang with the Gaither Vocal Band
Voctave does a version where they feature Mark Lowry the writer of the song. A very powerful version! Also love Home Free’s version. All three very good but different arrangements. Equally enjoyable!
Totally agree! All 3 are fantastic and worth watching. They each bring something special and are different in the best way.
Thank you for sharing Donna
It is difficult to hold a note and not fluctuate going either flat or sharp, not to mention the breath control. Mitch does it with ease.
Mary Did You Know is a song Michael English sang in the 90's. A lot of Protestant Churches added it to their hymnal, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. I remember singing this hymn in church just after college. It kind of became an instant classic.
We hope you have a Happy New Year! Thank you for your comment and support 😊
Definitely do Please Santa Please if you want a super fun original Christmas song with Kirstin leading! Written by Kirstie and Kevin.
Thank you for the recommendation
Not an original, but omg, there is a reason that this performance has so many views. It's just sublime.
Do The Prayer, What Is The Feeling from the tribute to Wicked anniversary, Gold, and then Aha in Singapore
also Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Thanks for your comment and honesty! Every comment we get is appreciated
#Pentatonix When you asked for harmonies, the only proper response is - "wait for it."
😂
Defo need to check out kevins cover of "down" that guy is a 1 man band with his cello, looping station, beatboxing and vocal skills
Sounds great ☺️
Michael English wrote this in 1984 was covered by CeeLo Green sang it was also featured in the movie Son of God
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Kevin is their secret weapon 😊❤😉
Hands down!
You get Kicked (by Kirstie), Slapped (by Mitch), Smacked (by Scott), Ambushed (by Avi), and Knocked Out (by KO) all at once with the Wall of Sound!
Love it Cherly 😊
Watch Kevin’s Fifth to see how they honor his talent on tour! They know exactly what a gem they have in Kevin! ❤❤
We will check it out. They defintely do ☺️
Love the reaction! 🎉
Thank you so much ☺️
Loved this guys.
Pentatonix and Christmas go together like Santa and cookies.

Glad your enjoying the PTX journey with us Dawn ☺️
Great reaction!
You can hear Kevin sing in Imagine and Amazing Grace. He really has a great voice and was helped and encouraged by Avi.
Love that!
Written by Mark Lowry in 1984. Check out Jolene, Dolly Parton and Pentatonix.
This is a cover. It was written by Mark Lowry in 1984. The audio is done in the studio so you’re not hearing the acoustics from the cave. However you can visit the cave. It’s called Bronsons cave and it’s located in Griffith Park a large park in Los Angeles. You can hike to it from the Griffith Park Observatory.i
Thank you for the info
You would enjoy 'amazing grace my chains are gone'
We will have to check them out ☺️
If you want to see a completely different side of PTX check out Can’t Hold Us - not a Christmas song but amazing
Thank you foe the recommendation
#PTX
Hey guys, fun fact-the cave is from the Bat Man series from the 50s! I adore PTX even tho I abhor Holiday music normally! They're phenomenal, always!❤
Thank you for sharing
Please react to “Be My Eyes” written by Kirsty and sings the lead on this one👍👍👍💗💕
Thank you for the recommendation

🔥🔥🔥
Without a doubt, this is the ONE song that makes me cry every single time.
It is very beautiful
Their version of this song always gives me goosebumps! Check out White Winter Hymnal next, it’s a great song and video!
We will check it out 😊
My friend Mark Lowry wrote this song in 1984...put to music with Buddy Green in 1991
This cave was used in the old TV show Batman as the entrance to the Batcave.
Same cave? That's interesting
Y’all should check out their version of Amazing Grace
Thank you for the recommendation 😊
Amazing Grace showcases all of them individually and the harmonies are insane. Great reactions.
Thank you Kathy 😊
Check out the prayer and an oldie cover of say something Kevin plays the cello 😊
Love Kevin on the cello. Thank you for the recommendation 😊
Kirstie does a heck of a job on "Rather be". Just sayin'...
We will check it out
My friend mark lowry wrote this song!❤
Amazing!
Not just any cave! That's a batman cave!! ☺️☺️☺️
Love that 😂
There's a beautiful version of this song by Kenny Rogers and Wynonna.
u twos description very on point
Thank you Ryan
Years ago when 'Hallelujah' was reacted to, a couple of reactors called Avi "Jesus in a beanie."
😂 I was thinking that tbf
Thank you for your amazing reaction. I mostly thank you for your respect for this song, since it is a “Christian” song. (Christian is not my favorite name for believers in Jesus, but . . .) 🥴
This song is by Mark Lowry who wrote it many years ago when he was singing with a gospel group called The Gaithers. Bill Gaither also wrote many hymns you will find in hymnals these days.
The song is beautiful and makes me tear up every time I hear it, especially when done by PTX.
I really appreciated your reaction. I’m so glad you included this song for Christmas.
You are both so charming although I doubt that is the look you are going for. 🥰
Thank you so much for your kind words Jan. Really means alot to us ☺️
Mary, Did You Know isn't a Pentatonix original, but it's pretty recent as far as Christmas songs go. It was written in the 90s I believe. PTX does have some Christmas original songs though. The ones that have videos are: That's Christmas to Me, Thank You, Kid on Christmas and Please Santa Please.
Do love some Christmas originals tbf ☺️
Great reaction guys. Mabey you can check out Voctave with Ohh Come All Ye Faithful. 😊
We will have to check it out
Though I listen most often to HF..this rendition of Mary Did You Know is my favorite by them or anyone else... absolutely angelic...
Today's a'capella is not your sidewalk or barbershop quartet of yester year...
I may be repeating myself..do forgive me..as we age we quite easily forget 🤣..PTX are masters of creating a wall of song.. tension and release...so satisfying...
In the New Year..if you haven't already..check out
💥...Change On The Rise...Avi Kaplan
Thanks gents.. always a treat..👍😉...
🌿🌿🌿
Appreciate you Pam 😊
Those are the caves they made the Batman movies in
Awesome.
Since you showed the album That's Christmas To Me, a little trivia about it. In 2014 it was the fourth highest selling album in the U.S.A. Only Taylor Swift's "1989," Sam Smith's "In The Lonely Hour," and the Frozen soundtrack by various artists sold more copies than the PTX Christmas album that year. Consider this achievement after Sony had dropped them from their original contract because Sony didn't think an acappella group could sell albums.
Thank you for sharing that info 😊
to my knowledge this one of they first few everyone loved it so they kept it going
Impressive
Two more songs where Kirstie shines...Shallow and Say Something. ALSO...Kevin plays the cello on both. They're hauntingly beautiful and hit you in the gut.
Ooo thank you for those recommendations ☺️
Loved your comments on Kevin! I adore every member but I feel he’s never given his true credit
For being so super versatile and incredibly talented!!!
The man is defintely got some serious gifted talent and we are always looking forward to hearing more from him
I love this. If you watch closely, youll notice that occassionally Kirstie is in profile with a white light behind her which to me is an ode to Mother Mary.
Good spot
Kirstie is very capable of belting out in the forefront. Shallow, Say Something, Water. To name a few. I agree, Kevin is a monster.
Facts 😂
This is considered a modern Christmas hymn/carol (from the 80’s) and has quickly become a Christmas staple each year for church musicals/soloists.
Please make sure to react to Home Free’s version - also wonderful!
Then please react to another amazing a cappella group you’ve yet to discover that are different but equally talented - Voctave. They do many Christmas songs and carols and will leave you gob-smacked and with your jaws dropped. Their version of Mary, Did You Know is among the best and features Mark Lowry the author of the song, sung like no other. It’s a MUST!!!
BTW, Voctave’s most popular video, Disney Love Medley, features Kirsten from PTX (with her then fiancé, Jeremy Michael Lewis, who sang with another group of their season of The Sing-Off in 2012). 33 million people can’t be wrong! 😊
Love it
Beautiful!
This song has been done by many artists, but PTX always puts their own spin on everything. It was originally sung by a Christian singer Michael English in 1991. This is my favorite Christmas song. I love the version by Clay Aiken too. ~ Kevin sings like an angel, as well as being the best beatboxer ever & I enjoy him the whole gang, so very much.
Thank you for your comment Cathy
Run to You is a slower one and it was written by Avi and Kevin. It’s exceptional!
We will have to check it out
PTX does have a new Christmas original called Please Santa Please. Kirsten takes the lead.
We will have to check it out
jesus was born on christmas day so this fits so perfectly imo
Defintely 😊
This was written by American evangelical Christian musicians and is really popular in the US evangelical community. It's perfectly written for maximum emotional effect and Pentatonix does it total justice.
Couldn't agree more
Have you done Sound of Silence? Pentatonix and Disturbed versions?
Thank you for your comment. It is very much appreciated 😊
Good reaction, but you do realise they only filmed the video in the cave and that the song was recorded and mastered in a studio.
Had to tell sometimes. Some record videos live some do it through pre recorded
The lyrics to this song were written by Mark Lowry. I would love to see you react to him singing it with the acapella group Voctave. It’s heavenly ❤
We will have to check it out
Recommend their new original video of Please Santa Please.
Thank you for the recommendation
Kevin .. The pre med guy
Love him
it's not kirstin doing the last prt of the song. It's Mitch.
Whoops
Please please react to AC/DC thunderstruck by 2 cellos!! Its amazing
Thank you for the recommendation
There is another acapella group called VOCTAVE, there are 11 of them, they sing for Disney as well. look at their dinsey princess melody
We will have to check them out
This is not an orginal.
Please react to pentatonix silent night
Thank you for the recommendation
Now react to Home Free’s rendition of this. It’ll give you goosebumps.
We will have to check it out
I don’t think you realize that Most videos you watch of them, they are lip synching to themselves. The songs are recorded in studio, then they make their videos so on this one, there isn’t any echoing or effects from the cave. All reverb, if any comes from the studio. ❤
Hard to always know with videos as sometimes the environmental effects get edited out
Sorry boys. Home Free are just trying too hang on to PTX’s coat tails. There’s only one world class Acapella group. PTX all the way. ❤
Haha gotta love Home Free though. Very different ☺️
My favourite version of this is by Home Free, just my preference 🏴
Both versions are very well done.
We haven't heard there version yet
While I take your meaning about groups introducing old songs to a modern audience, your example is a little bit off. Valhalla Calling from VoicePlay wasn't brought into the modern era - it was specifically written for the video game Assassin's Creed - Valhalla, so it was CREATED in the modern era. It's inspiration may be old Viking/Norse songs, but it's definitely not an old one brought up to a new audience.
Well said Badger. Bad example but you got the jist of what we ment 😂
Fun Fact: This won't really mean a lot to you two since your not American, I don't think, could be wrong but this is the Bat Cave from the original 1960's TV show
Still have mad respect for Batman 😂
Great reaction but your voices are very loud in comparison to PTX. But you can’t go wrong with anything they sing! Live they are amazing!!
Thank you for that feedback kt ☺️
Vocal purists....
Facts
No not an original.
Too many pauses and talking over their singing. No respect shown by you for such an awesome song. Shame on you!!
