    Thank you for this. I’m trying to move towards this mindset now with regards to my hearing loss. I’ve been focussed on trying to find the cause of it in the hope that there’s a cure out there, but I’m trying to accept it and move on now. I hope to say that I embrace it one day

    I agree with you when you said it's important to change your mindset and collaborate with your faults. That's exactly what I started doing about a year ago and it made me feel so much better about my eyes.

    Thank you for embracing blindness and making people aware! My daughter has ocular albinism and is 6 years old, she has fair skin but brown hair and green eyes she does not look like your “typical “ person with albinism. It’s so important to educate the world around us about visual impairments! Thank you for doing just that!

    Thank you, as a fellow VIP I can appreciate your difficulties. I’m very near sighted. -27.45 Left & -24.3 Right. My vision is “corrected” through glasses. My left is such that it’s not much use even wearing my glasses. My right eye is dominant, the other just dances around, doing its own thing. Until the right is blocked and then it swings into action. Though I struggle reading with it. Just recently during a dark wet night walked into a bus shelter (not the correct way), been diagnosed with the beginnings of a cataract in my right eye. Got super depressed for a period of time. It’s not going to get better. But hey, that’s fine. Im registered partially sighted, so have a free bus pass, which here in Scotland allows me free travel on buses, trains and ferries. So I’m trying to get it covered. I too struggled at school and my mum was adamant that I was not going to a “special” school. I attended main stream schools, passed my exams (a lot of which I sat on computer) went to college and lately uni where I got bachelors in computing science. I’m a determined and focused “no pun intended” guy. Stay positive young man. Live your videos.

    Thank you for sharing. I will try to apply this empowering mentality in my own life. Legal blindness and living in a rural area with few opportunities gets me down sometimes. But, it's not all bad. I have a good family and my passion, writing. This message of collaborating with my eyes and deciding to be happy really spoke to me.

  • @AmeriCanadian2011
    @AmeriCanadian2011 Před 5 lety

    Collaborating is a really good way to talk about the experience of using technology. One of the biggest impacts I've experienced so far has been using fonts designed for dyslexic people when I read Kindle ebooks with the green screen setting. I just played around with the tech on hand and stumbled across the combination. I don't see more clearly, but I end up understanding what I am reading and can use smaller font sizes than before. Weird, but useful.

  • @JuanAlcazar

    I like that analogy of collaborating with your disability rather than fighting against it. That part about family wanting to look for a cure. Oh man I’ve heard that one plenty of times. I mean yeah a cure would be nice but I’m also being proactive in making the best with the vision I still have.
    Pondering and pandering. Who knew one letter could change the meaning of an entire word lol.

    i love -not being normal since in my opinion its better to be yourself instead of trying to be like everyone else, i don't like it when people ask me if there's a cure or if i thought of having surgery to cure my vision. I have to always explain their is no cure for retinal dystrophy and recently my step sister told me i should pray so that God will make me a miracle. That realy made me a little ofended as ive already come to terms that being legaly blind is part of my life and ive already learned to live happily with how I am, by making sure i find accessable tools and ways to have a good life and do many of the things that a sighted person can do. I love your videos they motivate me to do better and they chear me up if im feeling down.

  • @dinahakim7114
    @dinahakim7114 Před 5 lety +1

    You’re right I have retinitis pigmentosa and there’s no cure out there at all and my parents have been praying for a cure or for healing up some sort crap like that and honestly I’m OK with it I don’t want to be “ normal” I want to be me that’s who I am this is me I am who I am because of my blindness yes I do have a guide dog he’s a rockstar so I agree with you 100% and I totally agree.

      Just smile! Hopefully you’ll be able to post a video about your experience. No two blind folks have the exact same experience and so many people still don’t understand what it’s like to be legally blind. Some just think either you can see or you see absolutely nothing.

      JC5 Productions and my condition you can’t tell that I’m legally blind until I pop out my cane so people question if it’s real also it’s hard I would like to meet more people who are visually impaired in LA I need to know how they do it because I have moments of wanting to give up I feel no one understands the struggle. Thank you for making videos I hope you never stop!

      I'm legally blind, have been since birth. It's crazy to see people talk about having less than 20/200 vision likes it's a bad thing. I've lived a better life and accomplished more than most of my sited friends. Your mind is the only thing that can hold you back. Life really doesnt have that much to do with visual acuity.

      Hi, I just watch the video from James and came across your comment, I checked out your channel and loved a bunch of your videos! I wanted to write comments on many of them, but wasn’t able to find a comment section to do so. I wanted to reach out to you so I decided to come back to James video and find your comment again so I can reply to you. I hope you see this! You have a very impressive channel and offer a lot of really cool videos and insights. I am also blind, but I listened to some of your workout videos. I also work out regularly and value health and fitness. I also listened to some of your help videos which I also found it interesting and helpful. I think you have a lot of value to provide and I think you have such a great channel! I hope you find the courage to upload a video about the struggles you were talking about in this comment. If you ever want support or anyone to talk to you, please feel free to reach out to me, I really enjoyed connecting with other blind and visually impaired people. I also have a CZcams channel if you would like to reach out to me there. Anyway, I really hope that you see this comment and I look forward to connecting with you sometime soon. Again, you seem like such a great person and you have so much valuable information to share! Have a great day, I look forward to hearing from you! Matt

    I wonder how normal it really is to have 20/20 vision though... isn't that like perfect vision? Allthough most people are indeed sighted, lots of people wear glasses or contact lenses, so I guess it's almost normal to have at least some degree of vision loss. Just not enough for it to be considered a handicap.
    I've had glasses since I was three, so my vision has probably never been perfect. I don't mind it, because I'm definitly sighted, but I do sometimes wonder how it would be like to have 20/20 vision. Would be cool to just experience it once, lol.
