Actually, it’s a very relative interview, although the title is partly misleading. From this gentleman’s statement, Crooks was obviously proficient at loading and firing a handgun, something that only comes with experience.

Good thinking! What's sad is I would have watched and been satisfied with the content if they'd left the title with just the first sentence. Instead, I'm reporting them for misleading us and walking away disgusted because they didn't deliver based on their title. There was another shooter at the scene. Three different gun sounds and calibers can be heard in the videos. First 3 was the shooter, 5 different rapid shots followed and a single shot which was the counter sniper who shot once killing the perpetrator.

The Air-force has limited firearms training.
How is it weird? He is 62 so how ever long he served for he has definitely been out for a long time, shooting is a skill and like most skills it fades if you don't keep up practice.
Also he was in the Air Force. If he wasn't in the MPs or a special operations group he probably didn't have much weapons training while he was in.

Crooks was a patsy.
Soon after being shot a video/photo was taken of Crooks lying on the roof with a bullet wound above the corner of his right away and midway to his right brow. The SS Sniper yet to be identified said he saw Crooks's rifle scope and the top of his eye because of the roof edge. His shot exactly there. Incroyable.

What's bizarre is how a guy insists on discussing politics at a gun range with a stranger to the point it got "tense" and although the other person seemed disinterested, he monitored the other person's reactions. Sounds like he's embellishing. It's called confabulation -- mixing truth with fictions. People can't seem to help themselves, even boomers who know better.
What I'd love to know was HOW that politics got into the conversation in the first place. Was he checking Crooks out because he had suspisions of him being a Republican or Democrat? Why would he want to know what way another person voted? Does that have anything to do with being an avid gun enthusiast? Democrats can go to a gun range for many reasons just as well as Republicans to learn to shoot better, or protection measures. There's many reasons. But to start a conversation on politics at a gun range? makes no sense.
For the most part, it is just something that people at the range have in common. Makes for small talk.
