Round 2 and 3 Khamzat was fighting with a broken right hand, which explains performing less than the first round, but he still managed to win round 3 and put up a close fight in round 2, which he also arguably won. Now I know that Usman took this fight on short-notice, and is out of his prime, has destroyed knees and is old, but Usman has the experience and cardio advantage and Khamzat still won. If you don’t call that impressive, you should move on to another sport since you have no knowledge of this one.

Im gonna say this and this only, you can't forward pressure a wrestler like Strickland does to his opponents. Theres too many opportunities and openings to change levels and take Strickland by the hips to the ground.
Strickland would have to fight from range to ensure he could finish it on the feet but to also prevent the takedown and be able to sprawl.
Therefore, he would have to fight different and adopt a new gameplan, and slightly a new fight style.
For years now elite level wrestlers have dominated MMA and this is no different in this case. 9/10 times the elite wrestler will come out on top against an elite striker.
There is always a punchers chance and sometimes this does happen but it has to be very skilled and calculated. Its not a very high percentage most of the time but It can be done
