A Couple Fox Squirrels Drop By for Brunch

  • The summer heat kept the squirrels away during the day for the past couple weeks, but the weather has moderated lately, and we've been getting latecomers again. Most of the squirrel action is between 5:30-7:00am now, but I rarely get up early enough to catch most of it. Mrs Munchie is still pregnant, and here I got a clip of her eating an almond, finding a hazelnut, and then moving onto the food bowls under the persimmon tree.
    A rando male squirrel also showed up and swiped an unripe persimmon (you can hear my wife telling him off in the background). I'm guessing he is the squirrel that used to live up in the palm tree before it was trimmed. He always liked to forage greens from the persimmon tree in the evening, but he wasn't a "people squirrel." He would split whenever we approached him.
