    Verse 1
    Our rest is in heaven, our rest is not here
    Then why should we tremble when trials draw near?
    Be still and remember the worst that can come
    But shortens our journey and hastens us home
    Chorus 1
    Christ our glory, Christ our hope
    Christ our King forevermore
    Be still and remember the worst that can come
    But shortens our journey and hastens us home
    Verse 2
    No hours should be wasted on seeking our joy
    And placing our hope in what will be destroyed
    We look for a city that hands have not raised
    We long for a country that sin has not stained
    Chorus 2
    Christ our glory, Christ our hope
    Christ our King forevermore
    We look for a city that hands have not raised
    We long for a country that sin has not stained
    Verse 3
    Though trouble and anguish increase all the more
    They cannot compare to the glory in store
    Come joy or come sorrow, whatever befalls
    The light of the Savior will outshine them all
    Chorus 3
    Christ our glory, Christ our hope,
    Christ our King forevermore
    Christ our glory, Christ our hope,
    Christ our King forevermore
    Christ our glory, Christ our hope,
    Christ our King forevermore
    Come joy or come sorrow, whatever befalls
    The light of the Savior will outshine them all

    I love the text in the song
    ”Come joy or come sorrow, whatever befalls
    The light of the Savior will outshine them all”
    It says it all, even the worst or the best in life can not compare to that day when will Jesus! What a wounderful hope we have in Jesus Christ! Love from 🇸🇪

    This song is PERFECT. 👍❤
    The message is solid: it pierces the soul like a hymn. Yet it sounds very modern.
    Christ-centered: nobody's showing off.
    Honestly, one of the best Christian music ministry in our world today. Our generation needs these kinds of music. 👍
    May God bless this ministry all the more.🙏

    Hi. Can someone help me? What does "We look for a city that hands have not raised. We long for a country that sin has not stained" mean. What scripture is that? Thanks.

    • @hwarang4ever365
      @hwarang4ever365 Před 4 lety +7

      I'm not completely certain the meaning, but what I can tell from the song lyrics are:
      "We look for a city that hands have not raised"- this line is saying that we are looking for a city that hasn't been made by human hands. Like Babel, man has tried to create a world without God. However, we look forward to Zion, the city of God, where our God dwells and waits for his children.
      "We long for a country that sin has not stained"- Currently, we live in a world devastated by sin and sinful people, yet we wait for the time when Christ comes back and God creates a new heaven and new earth (one not ravaged by sin), but where every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, "JESUS CHRIST, OUR GLORY, is LORD!"
      I have not looked into Scripture but these are my observations. These may not be the writer's meaning behind the lyrics. Their website may have the answers you are looking for. sovereigngracemusic.org/music/songs/christ-our-glory/
      PLEASE LOOK TO SCRIPTURE FOR TRUTH!

    I too would like help understanding their lyrics of “Our rest is in Heaven, our rest is not here.....”
    I get that our journey will be over here when Christ raptures us or pass away and we will no longer be in a world of sin but the scriptures speak plenty of rest. “Come to me, all ye who are weak and heavy laden and I will give you rest for your souls......” there are more that speak of His rest and peace. HE is our rest and peace through His Holy Spirit.

    Please delete this song. It is inappropriate when so many thousands of people are suffering so grievously from the corona virus. It is not their short track to heaven. It is a living hell. Jesus would have wept with them.

    • @bkauflin
      @bkauflin Před 4 lety +23

      Carolyn, thanks for your comment and concern. As the Director of Sovereign Grace Music I want to respond and respectfully disagree with your perspective. If the promises of Scripture aren't relevant during a time of suffering, then they aren't relevant at all. There is certainly a place for songs of lament that express our grief and longing in the midst of pain, suffering, and trials. But for the Christian, even though death is something that is a result of the fall that we grieve over, it is also the doorway to seeing the Savior. That's meant to comfort our hearts. Paul said it like this: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.” (Philippians 1:21-23, ESV) He also wrote this to encourage the Corinthians: “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18, ESV) If we deleted this song, other songs should be deleted as well, like In Christ Alone, It Is Well, Be Still My Soul, Jesus I My Cross Have Taken, and countless other songs that remind us that the blessings we receive in this life are not God's greatest gifts. His unveiled presence is. This life is not the Christian's final destination. We continue to weep over the effects of sin while being comforted by the supreme promises of God that we've received through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Which is why we can continue to sing of God's faithfulness and promises of eternal life even in the midst of a pandemic. "Come joy or come sorrow, whatever befalls, the light of the Savior will outshine them all."

    • @isaias9516
      @isaias9516 Před 3 lety +2

      hmm... While I'm glad that you recognize the difficulty of these times, I respectfully disagree. There are perhaps plenty of people with the virus or who have suffered because of it, who would love for this song to remain up because of the hope, joy, peace, comfort and stability it gives them. It allows them to look beyond it to the glory that awaits them. That is far from inappropriate, and is in fact biblical. I hope that you do not take this negatively, but rather positively from a fellow sufferer who is grateful for such a beautiful, God glorifying, soul strengthening song. Oh how I would love to sing a song such as this on my deathbed, if this "living hell" called covid-19 should steal my life away. (Jesus would rejoice with me too) With much love, and respect!

    • @isaias9516
      @isaias9516 Před 3 lety +1

      Just a further comment... I am aware that it is biblical to grieve with those who grieve (Rom 12:15). But to comfort others with the same comfort that you received from the Lord is (Just as) Biblical (2 Cor 1:4).

    • @leerandall6972

      You are all wrong. War does not cause Death, and neither does Corona. Death is caused by sin period. For those suffering from any malady this song brings much hope and peace to the Christian.
