Thanks for sharing! Always appreciate being able to visit a talk or seminar remotely hearing the thoughts from folk in pottery. This year I will plan to throw only about 6 pots on the wheel. The rest of the time will be working on practicing different methods hand building and I have ordered a mallet that I have seen folk using when preparing the foundation of an Onggi vessel. I find a lot of satisfaction when working with a slab that is being formed using a mallet and hope the clay will teach me well as I progress. Onggi pottery has so many videos on CZcams and the history is so interesting about the fermentation process. Just about the walls allowing air to get through and prevent water to get through as an example....
So much to enjoy about pottery.
    Be well!
    Cheers...Freddie

Hi Freddie! Thank you for watching and the wonderful comment. I do also like handmade slabs and they are so satisfying to make! Let me know if you want to make your own onggi tools, I have a few photos that could help you. Make a jar and maybe next is to try and make Kimchi to see the fermentation process yourself (I haven't done this myself but I have seen it at my grandmother's place). Keep well and keep making! Thank you!

Hi Sae-Won, thanks for the offer on the pictures, I never tire of pictures showing pottery tools. I will be using stoneware so not following in the tradition of Onggi, however I hope to build in a similar fashion. The process like so many in hand building looks to bring the maker closer to the clay and it's malleability. One thing I will be trying is wrapping the mallet heads with chamois leather as I have noticed in a few of the videos I have watched.
My wife and I are not into cooking too much so I doubt we will be doing Kimchi any time soon.
Please feel free to send me the photos to my email

I have watched many of your videos on the big tv and did not realize it until now.
      Cheers...Freddie
