We flew into Mildenhall on our flight to England. Our tour of duty was 3 lovely years. I went to the American high school at Lakenheath, but we were stationed in Gloustershire. I used to walk along River Stort to work years ago, Used to see Kingfishers nearly everday, hear them first, peep, peep, peep, then they'd come flying round the corner! got an eye for them now, if theres one around, nearly always spot it! Nice marina, great band.

I used to keep my first boat on that Marina. The steak menu at the Merry Monk is to die for. I lived only few miles away, there is loads to go see in the area.

Firstly Happy New Year to you both but also congratulations on your new home mooring. It must feel really good to now have a base that has a garden too. I never knew these existed. I am looking forward now to all the refurbishments and make overs. I can see Debs buying lots of solar lights for the garden putting her stamp on it. Ages ago when you teased us with something new coming in the future. I made a comment about taking bets. I was 100% sure that it was going to be a new boat with an engine room! Replace that decking with extruded aluminum. Pricey, but worth it in the long run. Expanded grating is a cheaper option. Scrap yards and industrial supply are your best options.

Don't throw away those propane bottle if you have not already done so. Those are hard to come by i have heard by the grape vine. From other boaters.

Good idea to have a base and it comes with a garden too.....brilliant. Being a bit of a home body myself I must say the set up you now have is, to my mind, preferable to continuous cruising. You have the best of both worlds.

I live in Australia and do all my boating out in the Pacific Ocean. Though I was born in Essex I have watched narrow boating often on youtube and considered it rather boring.
You two have changed my mind and I found your area delightful. And it is very obvious that you both care for each other very much.

I think a garden mooring would be the best of both worlds. Having a home base and some actual ground of your own to come back to after a cruise would be ace. I follow Chris and Shell and they have created a little paradise at their end of garden mooring.

@@welldeckdiaries5610 They garden, have a worm farm!, a storage shed, wood storage, and recently built a new art studio. They also have an empty field behind them for the dog to run. You have so many possibilities with your space.
