Also, I can't speak for all members but I don't think most of us even watch your videos for "the finds." We watch because of you, and your knowledgeable and personable narration and searching! I have NEVER watched a video where you've hunted with others and been like.. "oh, Chigg really got smoked today!" ..that has never crossed my mind! I have always found it incredibly humbling watching when you give credit to others who found something before you etc. I love your stories, and paw paw adventures, and overall content. I live in a rainforest on the PNW coast of Canada. I have never done any hunting, and a lot of what you share is very foreign to me. But I still watch! That surely means more than any sponsorship. I hope ML sees his behaviour and it backfires on him. There's no excuse for straight up slander and dirty talking your "friend" in public.

Chigg, I would watch a thousand videos of you finding nothing but river junk rather than one of Todd's. You are genuine, funny and really bring history to life. There was something about Todd that I couldn't/can't put my finger on, but he just rubbed me the wrong way. I only watched him due to you collaborating with him in your videos. Yep, totally agreed. I am not into the metal detecting so much as I am Chiggs personality. That other dude had NO personality what so ever. I never understood why he was appearing in so many of Chiggs videos. Never watched one of his videos because, my metal detecting itch is already scratched with Chigg. Sucks that this dude would take a sponsorship with a competitor and smear someone who tried to help over it. It seems to me that this is all that was, all those comments were about how his ML just kicked the snot out of Garrett. Which is fine. But why throw personal insults to bring that point home. Seems easier to just say, we had a great day, but I have to say my Mind Lab detector really helped me find some things that his Garrett missed. Not, this guy sucks because he uses Garrett, what a moron. Which is basically what he was saying.

I owe Chigg a lot of gratitude. He is the main reason why I am fighting agoraphobia and finally leaving my house to go and film myself metal detecting. There will never be anyone who can fill his shoes in my eyes. Even if he doesn't find anything in one of his videos, I am there for the laughs and smiles because he is very interesting and I learn a lot from him. Why would anyone try to hurt such a kind man?
The man has shown his true colours. He has sacrificed a friend on the altar of sponsorship and what he thinks is going to be good for himself. People like that I despise and I know lots of other people will too. He has demonstrated that he is a jealous, envious little man, not worthy of help or friendship. He's bleeding subs after this (1500 less today than when I un-subbed yesterday) which is not good for a channel his size. The fact that he went after the one person who helped influence his channel the most and is highly respected across all the major detecting channels, is mind boggling. Its refreshing to see that even on CZcams, your word and credibility really can impact your success.

I totally saw this coming. Chigg, you have achieved a level of success here that has become very attractive and motivating to ankle biters. Todd has reached a level where he can’t compete with you friendly so he had no choice but to try and drag you down. Keep doing what you do and don’t look back. Upward and onward to you!
My two scents for what it's worth. I realized up front that Todd wanted you on his hunts to, in his mind, pump up his prestige riding on your coat tails. Now that he has spent a great deal of time hunting with you his head swells to think that he is having a better day then his mentor. The fact that Garrett didn't offer him a sponsorship Lead him to fishing for another sponsor. He chose Equinox to try to fill in. I doubt that they have offered a sponsorship, or ever will but he is playing them up trying hard to get in with them. That doesn't seem to be working so he has redoubled his efforts by praising them to high heaven. And he is still hanging onto your coat tails while running you and your equipment down. I'm no expert but I believe there is some megalomania showing through in Todd's personality. Then we see him walking all over you, His friend. That's unexcusable. All of this and the "claimed" military service make him far worse then the purple haired lamp lady called him but I won't use that language here. I believe Todd will dry up and blow away, and so much the better for us all. Bad things happen to good people and Todd happened to you. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and continue providing the public with quality entertainment. Just one request. Convince Relic recoverist to get back in the dirt! As an actual Veteran, his trying to blurr the lines and claim his job as a civilian with the corps of engineers is just disgraceful. He could quit and walk away whenever he wanted, he could say no, turn down risks etc., and he got paid a LOT more, with better comdorts and conditions etc. What a disgrace.
@@ptaylor4923 you sure are some kinda special. There are combat roles and non-combat roles. There are risks to being I'm a warzone period. The civilian engineers were almost certainly placed in the least risky locations, and they were at no more risk than any civilian living I'm a war torn zone for IED's and bullets, in fact, those civilian contractors were actively kept safer than civilian bystanders. Plus, they made fat stacks of money all the while. There is no comparing voluntary active duty service in a firefight to some chubby bunny corps of engineers civvy making bank and kept as low risk as possibly buying out the commissary etc.

From one "GW" to another - I know that we don't have the greatest reputation, but there are a lot of us that truly love our county and are dedicated to serving the best interests of American taxpayers. We try to stay above politics. I can't speak for everyone ( and believe me, there are plenty of bad apples) but most of us are truly out here trying to do the right thing for this country. I will admit that I have worked with some, um, "interesting" characters at the Agency that Todd works for, and I'll leave it at that 😀
@@gww730 please just watch his videos. I worked with many civilian contractors as an operator in Central America. They wore the uniform, carried a weapon, and put themselves in harms way as well as I did.
I've watched maybe half a dozen collaborations with you and Todd. The last was looking for the fort. I remember the first few it was painful watching him flub around in the dirt and you mentored him. I almost stopped watching those because Todd was painful to watch. But I kept trying because you are entertaining and looking for more than an object. I have seen you teach children how to detect in your videos and are always gracious. I didn't think Todd was this kind of man. But it's not my first rodeo, and people do surprising things all the time. Guess I have more time to watch other CZcams creators since I won't watch his. EDIT: I have to add, his stealing Valor is reprehensible. I worked as a nurse at the VA for 14 years and saw true men of valor. People that books and movies were made about. Being around them, treating them and serving them for 14 years does not make me a veteran. It pisses me off Todd or anybody else gets grandiose and lies.

Andrew, Todd didn't (have to) act like he did, he chose to. I chose to unsub his channel, along with thousands of others. A sad and unnecessary circumstance he brought on himself by his own choices.

I’m new to the hobby, and to CZcams. Watching your videos on metal detecting has made me a better detectorist. Watching your videos, and others, has also made me even more passionate about the hobby. I own a Garrett AT Pro and a Minelab Equinox 800. I use them as I see fit for the particular situation. Both are great machines with different attributes and drawbacks. Regardless of whom is sponsoring whom, I think a little transparency would help. One thing I’ve learned in my limited detecting experience, is that you can give a good detectorist almost any machine, and they will succeed. A high dollar machine in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it, is almost useless. You’ve taught me volumes, Chigg. You’re my favorite. My support is unwavering. That being said, I wish everyone would be upfront about who is paying the freight. I won’t “Hold my breath!” on that, but I think a lot of folks feel the same.
I place my confidence in Chigg's character and integrity anyday, especially over a shallow wannabe. I've encountered a few stolen valor characters in my life and they were all puffed up, wee little men. Keep doing what you're doing, Chigg. We appreciate you.

Though whether it's to get at Garret for not sponsoring him or to secure a ML sponsorship I've no idea. Stolen valor is stolen valor no matter how you cut it. @@JohnP538 Agreed. My dad enlisted at the end of WWII, did three combat tours in Korea, and served for a total of 32 years active duty. All five of his brothers served during WWII, and two didn't make it back. They fought and bled for the county that we love, even though they couldn't vote or use the same restrooms and water fountains when they returned.

I stumbled across your channel years ago looking for info on motorizing my kayak. I’m a relic hunter and fisherman at heart. “I don’t get to do either nearly as much as I would like”. Well it's pretty clear this AHD guy has some self-esteem issues. That seems to be the case with most of the fake vets I've met. Also, the Army Corps has some rules about claiming to be "in the Army" when you work for them. The Corps is a civilian department of the DOD overseen by the actual US Army Engineer branch...they are not part of the Army, they are DOD Employees. You are NOT part of the Army, you are DOD that works under Army direction on approved projects. SO that said, sounds like dude was never actually your friend, he's a user, and I guess he figured that this was the way to get his ML sponsorship...which is likely not going to pan out, as he's losing subs by the minute now. You aren't losing anything by discovering this guy is a Blue Falcon.
I work for the DOD at a navy shipyard. Never been in the military a day of my life. Work on carriers and subs. I could never imagine telling people I’m a vet because I work for the DOD. It’s so blatantly false and he knows better. This isn’t a 25 year old. This is a grown ass adult with grandkids probably, telling these lies. So sad.

Metal detecting is now one of my favorite hobbies and the history and coinage I've been able to find blows my mind. Thank you for getting me started. Jealousy, pure and simple. 9K subs versus over 1 million. “I found more than he did,” “my machine is better than his,” “served in the army,” etc. He’s making up for feelings of insecurity. You don’t brag or attack others unless you feel insecure about yourself. Did you ever see Arnold Swartzeneggar brag that he had bigger muscles than someone else? No, because he wasn’t insecure about his muscles. And he didn’t build those muscles by comparing himself to other body builders and gossiping about other bodybuilders. Jealousy of someone else’s success has destroyed many friendships. You earned your subscribers by hard work, doing what you do out of love for the activities, and being honest with your viewers rather than trying to beat someone else. I’ve been watching your videos for years and you never once attributed your success to having better equipment, never bragged about finding more than your partner. Bragging comes from insecure feelings about yourself and that leads to cutting someone down so the bragger looks better (he thinks).
Well I finally have to voice my opinion on one of your videos, and even though it'll soon be buried among the inevitable thousands to come I'll at least know I did my part. First of all I have the utmost respect for you even though I've never actually met you, you have one of the best (if not THE best) metal detecting channels on youtube. Your content is incredible, and your finds collection from the decades you've been detecting is second to none. I personally don't care if or how much Garrett pays you for the sponsorship, and frankly that is nobody's business and shouldn't be. I personally bought the Garrett AT Max international because of your channel and absolutely love the machine, but detectors are like phones, everyone has their own opinion as to which are "better", and in the end all that matters is your own satisfaction. As for the situation with Todd, I hope he realizes he has made a terrible mistake by spewing BS about you, his channel wouldn't even be known if it weren't for you and your subscribers and I'm sure he's going to regret his mistake when he loses most if not all the subscribers from your channel. Karma's a bitch as they say. I subscribed to his channel when you first started making videos with him but unsubscribed a few months later because his videos are terribly edited and very boring. As for his claiming to have been in the Army, that's something that isn't taken lightly nowadays and for his own good he'd be wise to clarify that real quick. Considering his retention, all his subs. Fella doesn't exactly know how to appear on camera, and ... what i learnt here makes sense. Ya know, even through a camera, you can sometimes "sniff" a fella being just plain bad blood.
Sounds like he's the type that has to try and tear someone down in order to make himself more appealing for some reason. As for the Army thing, he was being obtuse. He was basically trying to use his time as a civ in the military to borrow some of the honor of serving as a soldier. This is stolen glory. It isn't as egregious as claiming you were a soldier, but he's riding coat-tails. It's offensive when all he probably did was sit at a base somewhere and be protected by the actual soldiers. Just so you know, I'm a veteran too. (Navy).

Chigg - Just keep doing what you're doing. I've been watching your channel for over 10 years (and a subscriber for almost as long.) I would hate to see something like this change how you do your videos, or how you try to teach others. Yeah, that is not something you say. I made my service in the Swedish air force myself but I also worked a year as a civilian employee a couple of years later and it was certainly not the same thing. I am only proud of one of those. Few if any goes into the military for money, that is why it is called "service". Work most people do for money. Heck, I feel a bit guilty when someone from US say "thanks for your service" if they here I am an ex military since I served in a different military. And no, I was never a pilot BTW, just a grunt. People tend to assume air force = pilot...

Thanks for your service Chigg. I am a Army combat veteran Iraq war. I was with 10th Mountain Division. It's really unfortunate that this happened and you sure do find out who your true friends are. Sounds to me the game is gone to his head. I haven't been a follower of yours for long but I can tell your a very genuine person and I don't understand how people can be that way especially when you help them out like you did. Hi Chigg, been watching your videos for some time (along with others) and found yours very entertaining and extremely informative. I learned a lot from you. Being from NJ, there are not a lot of places to hunt so I drool every time I see you dig up some historically significant artifacts. I have a vintage White"s DFX, a Garrett 2500 and the Equinox 800, and I truly believe that they are all great machines in their own right. The Garrett 2500 is extremely sensitive and can practically drive you insane. The smallest item that I found was a 1 mm gold bead. I spent hours sifting through the dirt, mud and rocks, but I found it. It sounds to me like Todd was using you and your friendship to enhance his standing with retaining a possible sponsorship and by trying to prove that he can negatively affect the so-called competition. Keep up the GREAT WORK an THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

I have NEVER watched a video where you've hunted with others and been like.. "oh, Chigg really got smoked today!" ..that has never crossed my mind! I have always found it incredibly humbling watching when you give credit to others who found something before you etc. I love your stories, and paw paw adventures, and overall content.
I live in a rainforest on the PNW coast of Canada. I have never done any hunting, and a lot of what you share is very foreign to me. But I still watch! That surely means more than any sponsorship. I hope ML sees his behaviour and it backfires on him. There's no excuse for straight up slander and dirty talking your "friend" in public.

Yep, totally agreed. I am not into the metal detecting so much as I am Chiggs personality. That other dude had NO personality what so ever. I never understood why he was appearing in so many of Chiggs videos. Never watched one of his videos because, my metal detecting itch is already scratched with Chigg. Sucks that this dude would take a sponsorship with a competitor and smear someone who tried to help over it.
It seems to me that this is all that was, all those comments were about how his ML just kicked the snot out of Garrett. Which is fine. But why throw personal insults to bring that point home. I owe Chigg a lot of gratitude. He is the main reason why I am fighting agoraphobia and finally leaving my house to go and film myself metal detecting. There will never be anyone who can fill his shoes in my eyes. Even if he doesn't find anything in one of his videos, I am there for the laughs and smiles because he is very interesting and I learn a lot from him. Why would anyone try to hurt such a kind man?

My two scents for what it's worth. I realized up front that Todd wanted you on his hunts to, in his mind, pump up his prestige riding on your coat tails. Now that he has spent a great deal of time hunting with you his head swells to think that he is having a better day then his mentor. The fact that Garrett didn't offer him a sponsorship Lead him to fishing for another sponsor. He chose Equinox to try to fill in. I doubt that they have offered a sponsorship, or ever will but he is playing them up trying hard to get in with them. That doesn't seem to be working so he has redoubled his efforts by praising them to high heaven. And he is still hanging onto your coat tails while running you and your equipment down. I'm no expert but I believe there is some megalomania showing through in Todd's personality. Then we see him walking all over you, His friend. That's unexcusable. All of this and the "claimed" military service make him far worse then the purple haired lamp lady called him but I won't use that language here. I believe Todd will dry up and blow away, and so much the better for us all. Bad things happen to good people and Todd happened to you. As an actual Veteran, his trying to blurr the lines and claim his job as a civilian with the corps of engineers is just disgraceful. He could quit and walk away whenever he wanted, he could say no, turn down risks etc., and he got paid a LOT more, with better comdorts and conditions etc. What a disgrace.

@@ptaylor4923 you sure are some kinda special. There are combat roles and non-combat roles. There are risks to being I'm a warzone period. The civilian engineers were almost certainly placed in the least risky locations, and they were at no more risk than any civilian living I'm a war torn zone for IED's and bullets, in fact, those civilian contractors were actively kept safer than civilian bystanders. Plus, they made fat stacks of money all the while. There is no comparing voluntary active duty service in a firefight to some chubby bunny corps of engineers civvy making bank and kept as low risk as possibly buying out the commissary etc.

From one "GW" to another - I know that we don't have the greatest reputation, but there are a lot of us that truly love our county and are dedicated to serving the best interests of American taxpayers. We try to stay above politics. I can't speak for everyone ( and believe me, there are plenty of bad apples) but most of us are truly out here trying to do the right thing for this country. I will admit that I have worked with some, um, "interesting" characters at the Agency that Todd works for, and I'll leave it at that 😀
@@gww730 please just watch his videos. I worked with many civilian contractors as an operator in Central America. They wore the uniform, carried a weapon, and put themselves in harms way as well as I did.
I've watched maybe half a dozen collaborations with you and Todd. The last was looking for the fort. I remember the first few it was painful watching him flub around in the dirt and you mentored him. I almost stopped watching those because Todd was painful to watch. But I kept trying because you are entertaining and looking for more than an object. I have seen you teach children how to detect in your videos and are always gracious. I didn't think Todd was this kind of man. But it's not my first rodeo, and people do surprising things all the time. Guess I have more time to watch other CZcams creators since I won't watch his. EDIT: I have to add, his stealing Valor is reprehensible. I worked as a nurse at the VA for 14 years and saw true men of valor. People that books and movies were made about. Being around them, treating them and serving them for 14 years does not make me a veteran. It pisses me off Todd or anybody else gets grandiose and lies.

I’m new to the hobby, and to CZcams. Watching your videos on metal detecting has made me a better detectorist. Watching your videos, and others, has also made me even more passionate about the hobby. I own a Garrett AT Pro and a Minelab Equinox 800. I use them as I see fit for the particular situation. Both are great machines with different attributes and drawbacks. Regardless of whom is sponsoring whom, I think a little transparency would help. One thing I’ve learned in my limited detecting experience, is that you can give a good detectorist almost any machine, and they will succeed. A high dollar machine in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it, is almost useless.
You’ve taught me volumes, Chigg. You’re my favorite. My support is unwavering. That being said, I wish everyone would be upfront about who is paying the freight. I won’t “Hold my breath!” on that, but I think a lot of folks feel the same.
I place my confidence in Chigg's character and integrity anyday, especially over a shallow wannabe. I've encountered a few stolen valor characters in my life and they were all puffed up, wee little men. Keep doing what you're doing, Chigg. We appreciate you.

Though whether it's to get at Garret for not sponsoring him or to secure a ML sponsorship I've no idea. Stolen valor is stolen valor no matter how you cut it. @@JohnP538 Agreed. My dad enlisted at the end of WWII, did three combat tours in Korea, and served for a total of 32 years active duty. All five of his brothers served during WWII, and two didn't make it back. They fought and bled for the county that we love, even though they couldn't vote or use the same restrooms and water fountains when they returned.

I stumbled across your channel years ago looking for info on motorizing my kayak. I’m a relic hunter and fisherman at heart. “I don’t get to do either nearly as much as I would like”. I’ve never used a metal detector. Thank you for all the work you have done over the last several years. I love your content. I watched most of your episodes with Todd and never had the desire to go to his channel.
That's pretty low for him,not somebody you need to have for a friend.I know from watching your videos you are always honest about the detectors,you mention the ups and downs of all types. I feel you are true and honest and that's why I watch all your videos. You rock,don't let anyone ever make you feel lesser of a person because we know.

Well it's pretty clear this AHD guy has some self-esteem issues. That seems to be the case with most of the fake vets I've met. Also, the Army Corps has some rules about claiming to be "in the Army" when you work for them. The Corps is a civilian department of the DOD overseen by the actual US Army Engineer branch...they are not part of the Army, they are DOD Employees. You are NOT part of the Army, you are DOD that works under Army direction on approved projects. SO that said, sounds like dude was never actually your friend, he's a user, and I guess he figured that this was the way to get his ML sponsorship...which is likely not going to pan out, as he's losing subs by the minute now. You aren't losing anything by discovering this guy is a Blue Falcon.
I work for the DOD at a navy shipyard. Never been in the military a day of my life. Work on carriers and subs. I could never imagine telling people I’m a vet because I work for the DOD. It’s so blatantly false and he knows better. This isn’t a 25 year old. This is a grown ass adult with grandkids probably, telling these lies. So sad.

You were my inspiration to start metal detecting 8 years ago. I even got into water detecting because of you. Metal detecting is now one of my favorite hobbies and the history and coinage I've been able to find blows my mind. Thank you for getting me started. Even though you don't find mountains of bullets and shells like you once did, it doesn't matter to me. I watch you because of your personality, character and knowledge. I've watched all of your videos and I'm a true fan for life. As far as Todd goes, I actually feel sorry for him in some respects but not enough not to thumb down his latest video before I unsubscribed.

I think its sad someone would ruin a friendship over a hobby like this. It doesn't matter what machine you use we all should be doing it for the same purpose. I support you chigg and always will you've gotten me through some dark lonley nights and have inspired me to get out there and find history. Could never get into Todd his personality bothered me. When watching the lost fort videos you could almost tell that something was up with him,he seemed kind of distant
Jealousy, pure and simple. 9K subs versus over 1 million. “I found more than he did,” “my machine is better than his,” “served in the army,” etc. He’s making up for feelings of insecurity. You don’t brag or attack others unless you feel insecure about yourself. Did you ever see Arnold Swartzeneggar brag that he had bigger muscles than someone else? No, because he wasn’t insecure about his muscles. And he didn’t build those muscles by comparing himself to other body builders and gossiping about other bodybuilders. Jealousy of someone else’s success has destroyed many friendships. You earned your subscribers by hard work, doing what you do out of love for the activities, and being honest with your viewers rather than trying to beat someone else. I’ve been watching your videos for years and you never once attributed your success to having better equipment, never bragged about finding more than your partner. Bragging comes from insecure feelings about yourself and that leads to cutting someone down so the bragger looks better (he thinks).
Well I finally have to voice my opinion on one of your videos, and even though it'll soon be buried among the inevitable thousands to come I'll at least know I did my part. First of all I have the utmost respect for you even though I've never actually met you, you have one of the best (if not THE best) metal detecting channels on youtube. Your content is incredible, and your finds collection from the decades you've been detecting is second to none. I personally don't care if or how much Garrett pays you for the sponsorship, and frankly that is nobody's business and shouldn't be. I personally bought the Garrett AT Max international because of your channel and absolutely love the machine, but detectors are like phones, everyone has their own opinion as to which are "better", and in the end all that matters is your own satisfaction. As for the situation with Todd, I hope he realizes he has made a terrible mistake by spewing BS about you, his channel wouldn't even be known if it weren't for you and your subscribers and I'm sure he's going to regret his mistake when he loses most if not all the subscribers from your channel. Karma's a bitch as they say. I subscribed to his channel when you first started making videos with him but unsubscribed a few months later because his videos are terribly edited and very boring.
As for his claiming to have been in the Army, that's something that isn't taken lightly nowadays and for his own good he'd be wise to clarify that real quick. As a veteran myself of the U.S.A.F I despise people like him that claim to be prior military when they weren't. Sad little man.

Considering his retention, all his subs. Fella doesn't exactly know how to appear on camera, and ... what i learnt here makes sense. Ya know, even through a camera, you can sometimes "sniff" a fella being just plain bad blood.
Sounds like he's the type that has to try and tear someone down in order to make himself more appealing for some reason. As for the Army thing, he was being obtuse. He was basically trying to use his time as a civ in the military to borrow some of the honor of serving as a soldier. This is stolen glory. It isn't as egregious as claiming you were a soldier, but he's riding coat-tails. It's offensive when all he probably did was sit at a base somewhere and be protected by the actual soldiers. Just so you know, I'm a veteran too. (Navy).

I would hate to see something like this change how you do your videos, or how you try to teach others. Yeah, that is not something you say. I made my service in the Swedish air force myself but I also worked a year as a civilian employee a couple of years later and it was certainly not the same thing. I am only proud of one of those.
Few if any goes into the military for money, that is why it is called "service". Work most people do for money.
Heck, I feel a bit guilty when someone from US say "thanks for your service" if they here I am an ex military since I served in a different military.

Thanks for your service Chigg. I am a Army combat veteran Iraq war. I was with 10th Mountain Division. It's really unfortunate that this happened and you sure do find out who your true friends are. Sounds to me the game is gone to his head. I haven't been a follower of yours for long but I can tell your a very genuine person and I don't understand how people can be that way especially when you help them out like you did. Hi Chigg, been watching your videos for some time (along with others) and found yours very entertaining and extremely informative. I learned a lot from you. Being from NJ, there are not a lot of places to hunt so I drool every time I see you dig up some historically significant artifacts. I have a vintage White"s DFX, a Garrett 2500 and the Equinox 800, and I truly believe that they are all great machines in their own right. The Garrett 2500 is extremely sensitive and can practically drive you insane. The smallest item that I found was a 1 mm gold bead. I spent hours sifting through the dirt, mud and rocks, but I found it.
It sounds to me like Todd was using you and your friendship to enhance his standing with retaining a possible sponsorship and by trying to prove that he can negatively affect the so-called competition. Keep up the GREAT WORK an THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
