Corkscrew shores have sidewalks on both sides. What’s the timeline for corkscrew to be finished? The road is a hot mess during high traffic times. Plus the HOA Fees are pretty high.
Hi Derek, thanks for the question and comment. The timeline for the expansion of corkscrew is a few years. It is currently scheduled for 6 lanes past Pinewoods Elementary and then 4 lanes to Alico. Beyond Alico is not currently scheduled/funded, but it’s well known it is needed. There is an initial approval in for another neighborhood that will be more homes than The Place and Verdana Village combined. I’ve heard that the final approval will only come if it includes the widening past Alico. Let’s hope so! I’m not sure what other neighborhoods you are comparing to, but the fees are inline or lower than most anything else of a similar look and feel, but The Place has amenities unmatched by anything outside of a country club.
Coincidentally, the neighborhood has a trolley, but it has been parked since Covid hit. The trolley is intended to drive a route on the weekends (Fri - Sun if I recall correctly) and transport residents to and from the amenity center and restaurant. Hopefully it will be back in service sooner than later! Regarding the beaches, you are 30-40 minutes away. The Place at Corkscrew sits due east of Estero Bay and you have to go North or South around the bay to Ft. Myers Beach or Bonita Beach. There is not transportation to the beach provided by the community. There are some communities that offer that. Public schools in Lee County are very good. There are many options, but some depend on grade level. Lee county uses a School Choice system which is less based on proximity and more based on focus - arts, stem, college prep, etc... We are very familiar with the system as we have three kids in it. We are meeting with a good friend late next week who is on the school board to discuss some proposed changes for the elementary schools. Pulte has a few interior lots remaining, but they likely have them already lined up for when they are allowed to contract. The community is effectively all resale now. The smaller 3/2 homes range between 1,600 and 1,800 square ft. Currently those homes are in the high $500's to low $600's depending on options, lot, etc...
Hi Michael, as of May 2021 there are no closures in our area. Most stores including grocery stores still request masks be worn. Restaurants do the same to walk in, but once seated, masks are not required. Outdoors there are no restrictions.
