+John Heisz The links in this comment don't work. Look's like part of the hyperlinks got cut off. The ones in the video description work fine though.
+Mike Perez
Thanks, I fixed it :)
Does this method only work for a certain size of saw blade? Will it work for my thicker dado cutter?
John Heisz This is sooooo cool

Hi John . It was a pleasure to watch you work and explain the assembly process. I’m always in awe of you when I watch your videos. I Truly believe that you should have your own TV show. Thanks for the knowledge you share . Much appreciated by myself and I’m sure many many more.
I bought your plans for your Ultimate Box Joint Jig and can't wait to build it. I want to build it with the same materials you did but I will have to order Baltic Birch plywood. No one carries it anywhere that I can drive to within a couple hours. Even if I don't get around to building it I'm glad to support you and your channel. I never miss any of your videos. Keep up the great work!
You sir, are doing a awesome job with your jigs. Your explanation is excellent. Thank you for sharing your ideas. This one will be put to work in Norway, in my shop as well!
Very nicely done John !
Wonderful job. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos they really help me see what I can do on some of my projects.
Awesome creation. Congratulations. Thank you a lot for your videos.
I love the cutting board idea. Keep up the good work, I always enjoy watching your videos.
Nice! I wouldn't have thought to use MDF but it looks great. I built from your plans and I'm really happy with the results. I wish I'd thought of your trick to use threaded rod to set the kerf spacing. I ended up marking and cutting, and with care that worked well, but the threaded rod approach looks much easier.
Once again, John, you prove your excellent skills to pass on to the rest of us, including what you don't actually say -- patience. If I had discovered like you did at 5:04 that the part stuck out after all that work up to that point, I would have chopped it up and burned it! But when I saw the paper shim fix and the super ratchet I told myself "Calm down and learn from the master." It's good to see how these little idiosyncrasies challenge you without discouragement and you go right on. I thank you for that.
Thank you John, great build and instruction as usual.
thank you love your stuff. i am impressed on how you come up with all this stuff
I love how you are never satisfied and you keep improving things
I like it, John. It's funny, as I was only just reading a comment on one of your other videos where someone made reference to the fact that good quality plywood can be expensive. :-)
I really like this jig. I think the most creative/ helpful thing you did here was how you went about cutting the division plate. I didn't really like the idea of the threaded rod as a permanent solution (for no good reason really, just picky I suppose), but I like this idea a lot better, even if the threaded rod is just as accurate. I'm getting my garage set up again soon and will be buying one of the versions of these plans. Thanks for the video!
Very good, I will probably never make this but I loved seeing it being made.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Nice Build John. It a great looking and very useful jig. Thank you for sharing...
Nice job John, thats one cool modern model house.
Totally cool. This is going on my bucket list of things to make!
Really cool jig
Very cool!
Very cool John. It's a good day for MDF everywhere.

Very nice job! Your idea helped me a lot.
Thank you for sharing.
Very useful video. Great fixture, John!
Clever thinking with the threaded rod and the drywall screw.
Hola John, muy buen video, por tu aporte, gracias, Saludos desde México.
John Heisz I am amazed by Your inventions, subscribed to Your channel, of course Like your work, respect You as a Jack of all trades, Hello from Russia)
Awesome tool ! Must have ! Thanks sharing J.Heisz and have great success ...
Amazing design on the advance mechanism..
Great as usual!
I have recently started woodworking and have used your free plans for a folding knife before to make it in metal. Thanks for that!
It is nearly finished by the way (makeing it in the dead time on my regular work)
Looking through your site once again for som plans to make some kind of jig for the table saw instead of a jointer and found your "Taper Jig" and will mod it for that use.
I also have disabled AdBlock on your site. Hopefully it will make a difference.
Thanks :)
Very nice. You make it look so easy...
+Patrick Morrissey
Thanks, but it actually is a very easy jig to build.
+John Heisz For you :)
Would take me probably months to build this.
Muy bueno.... Very good
Gracias por tu trabajo..... Thanks for you works
Very good job John.....keep em comin.
Really an example of engineering! Well done!
Very clever and equally important for an interesting project very well filmed. Thumbs up in all respects.
Good working device. Allows you to make beautiful boxes. Like!
Love your jig build vids.
Great video as always. You are a very talented man! :)
Love the sound at 5:18 :-) as usually: great video!
Superb jig. Thanks for this .
Very nice, John.
Damn fine jig John. I'm thinking I can make one of these for laying out guitar frets... I'd just need an indexing block for each scale length. Thanks!
I thought the same thing when I saw John making that part. Problem is, you pretty much need an accurate way to lay out those slots, which means buying the jig from Stew Mac.
Very good John! Thanks.
thanks for the cutting board idea, great vid.
So cool. If I wasn't so lazy I would build that. Thanks for sharing.
such a great box joint jig!! nice job!
+Matt Diresta
Thanks Matt :)
Toujours un plaisir à regarder!
Let me try to be less-wordy than normal (too late already, eh). Browsing CZcams here and there, be it woodworking, metal fab, electronics, whatever, It's good to watch and pick up little tidbits now and again (eg "oh- that's a good idea" or "there's an easier way than what I normally do." and you-know...
But there's one little bit here that's.... an epiphany for me... to you, it's probably nothing but wow! It's one of those special moments.
Using the threaded rod the way you did as an accurate step guage... I Love It!
Thanx ever so much!
+wdavid parks
Thanks :)
wow what a fascinating watch thank you
Nice jig as long as you want every slot cut to the same width, this would speed things up. You can make one for a router that allows every slot to be a different size if you prefer and it's designed to cut both ends of the joining ends so they fit perfectly. I don't have a video of it, but for anyone interested you can find it in Woodsmith's "Tools and Jigs" magazine from the Summer 2014 edition. Both of these in your shop would allow some pretty interesting projects, and the one for the router can be modified to cut as long as the t-tack you use with it, up to 3 feet! IF I put two together I can make myself a pretty nice coffin, but who would want to bury it? Dump me in the hole and keep the coffin for storage.
Great ingenuity! Very nice.
Very neat. Easier to make (and use) than Matthais' version, but his has the WayCool factor of wooden gears and stuff. :) Thumbs up from this Aussie.
I was never interested in building matthias's jig because it seems that there's way too much math involved in using it... And I'm good at math.
This jig appears way easier to use and I'm considering buying the plans.
Pretty damn cool man! Thanks for sharing.
Using the threaded rod and a dry wall screw to cut the division plate is a simple but brilliant idea that will ensure a high degree of accuracy.
the jig is up? awesome :D
Nice driver sound at 5:19
I'm glad someone else noticed that
muy buena herramienta amigo.....good idea friend..
ide yang brilian....hebat, salut Pak John Heisz.....salam dari Indonesia
I've always wanted to built one of these. I think the only thing holding me back right now is a band saw. Is there a way to cut the small parts with a jig saw?
Great as always.
John I enjoyed this video and I think that jig A O K.
God Bless my friend.
very nice! Thanks for sharing!
I love the jig. Great design.. I don't like wobble on the blade... My sawstop saw may not like that either. Is there no adjustment on the jig to make the fit better?
Like I said, the jig works best with a dado set. You use the shims in the dado set to adjust the fit.
If using a single, 1/8" blade, adding a paper shim to make it "wobble" by a small amount (thousandths of an inch) will have no effect on your machine and you won't even be able to see the difference.
É um prazer assistir um projeto bacana, parabéns!
To those who wonder, the translation is:
It's a pleasure to watch a cool project, congratulations!
Nesecito los planos desde Quito Ecuador es un invento maravilloso
Nice build
it looks so easy... I need your skills ;)
Great jig!
Excellent!
thanks for all
Very nice! Thank you.
Hi John! I bought plans for the advanced box joint jig but don't have a thin kerf saw blade and can't afford one. Any tips for other methods to make the advance plate? Thanks!
After seeing this, I want to buy one of those power hand screwdrivers you have. Which brand do you recommend for the best ratchet sounds?
Very good Projects !!! Thumbs up to:))))
very nice job
Hey John. great job.
Thank you for sharing.
Congrats.
ZACCARO
Super jig.Thenks for this.
Great job
Hi John that's an excellent idea! To bad I don't have the time to make one which it will help me a lot at the shop. I know you're selling the plans but can you sell the finish product?
muy bueno lo voy a probar
très bien merci
Excelent idea.
Why do you use a impact drill for some screws and not others , is there a reason or just whats laying around at the time that you need to screw something
hi, I'm looking into buying my first table saw. it's on Craigslist and I don't need anything fancy it is titled as " 10" craftsman table saw " it is $85 and the person said they used it once for their flooring project and don't have a use for it anymore. is this a good deal? it looks like it's in perfect condition. thanks for the help!
Hey John, thanks for this video. I have a question though, and I think I speak for a lot of viewers here. Not only do I not have any of the "fancy" materials, but I don't have any of the unfancy ones either. Is there a way you could make this from things I have lying around, like old earbuds and hot pocket packaging? Thanks again!
eres lo maximo!!
why do we use mostly square holed screws for woodworking. why not crossheads or standard?
Square or "Robertson" by name gives a much better fit to the driving tool. Once you have tried them you will never go back.
Nice production here
+Xyienced
Thank you :)
what's the difference between the advance jig and the ultimate jig?
Fantastic
simply WOW.
Awesome impact at 5:22
thank you!that's great!
Owsome idea!
very very very good!!!!
awesome build I love that gorilla wood glue to me it seems as if the strongest I've used out of all my glues
Büyük usta teşekkürler
Can you tell me what that does because I have know idea also love your videos
