  • A small Denver business is shutting down after a second case of arson in six months. ReFillanthropy opened on East Bayaud Avenue last year, but on Tuesday morning, the front of the shop was set on fire.

    This is insane! Sad enough I wanted go to this shop tomorrow.
    That library always has addicts/homeless hanging out in front. That whole block is a mess and I see people using in the doorways, and sleeping there as well.
    FYI, I stopped going to that library. Its not a safe block, whatsoever and avoid it as much as possible. Denver does not want to address the addiction/mental issues that exist.

    An arsonist's bond (and previously charged) set at 20 k. He's already done way more than that in damage. Fire bugs need to spend 20 years behind bars just to get their mind right.

    The library is a homeless camp and security doesn't remove them during the many hours of the week when the library is closed. Not complicated.

    I do feel very sorry for the store owners, but I guarantee you they’ll trip over themselves to go vote in the same people that have destroyed Denver. You can guarantee that.

      They vote via their virtue signalling on election day...
      ...then whine incessantly when things go wrong because of it.

    You can tell by the tone in their voice that they are trying the be as politically correct as possible but really they would just feel a lot better if they can come out a say it.
    They voted the wrong way and their Kumbaya world view is just not panning out like they want it to. Not everyone deserves a second chance and not everyone can be "reformed" that's just human nature and in reality if the truely knew the cost of reforming someone it would change their tune.
    People keep saying "The Government Should do..." but really it's just your tax dollars that are paying for it. So the next time you say "The Government Should do..." follow that up with "How much more $$$ do I want to pay?"
    To put thing into perspective in Colorado it can cost between $19,000 and $81,000 a year to keep someone in prison. That's just to keep person alive in a box that does not cover the cost of doctors if they have psychological issues.
    The local government has brain washed people into thinking the cause is "the library"... get real these people belong in a facility and the government has failed you by letting them out.

    • @koolaidbomber
      @koolaidbomber Před měsícem

      The library is a branch of the local government. They should have security (they do at other branches) and people do sleep and use on the property. Ive seen it many times.
      Denver has failed. No addict will seek recovery when you make it easy to use. That's the key problem and hear it many times.
      Step Denver, Salvation Army, have services, but an addict has to want to become sober.
      BTW, where does the money go in Denver Budget? The Mayor made some interesting changes.
      Well, another small business leaves, and one that providing ways to be less wasteful. That the irony of it.

    • @Cowicide
      @Cowicide Před 20 dny

      What would Republicans do aside from make everything vastly worse? The reason we have so many people with mental issues out in the streets in the FIRST PLACE is from Republicans who destroyed mental health funding nationwide. Also, the cities are getting a lot of people with issues that flee red states, etc. that devastate their own populace with horrible policies.
