Dum Aalu or Aloo Dum (आलु दम) is a potato based dish. it is a part of the traditional Kashmiri Pandit cuisine, from the Kashmir Valley in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The potatoes, usually smaller ones, are first deep fried, then cooked slowly at low flame in a gravy with spices. Dum Aloo / Aalu Dum is a popular recipe cooked throughout south Asian countries.
Ingredients for Perfect Aloo Dum / Dum Aloo / Aalu Dum Recipe:
Ingredients
500-gram small size potatoes
4 small tomatoes chopped
1 onion cut into any size ( size doesn’t matter here because we will blend it afterward)
1/2 tbsp garam masala
1 tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder
4-5 cloves garlic and the same amount of ginger
2 spicy green chilis
1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
1/2 tbsp coriander seeds and 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste
3 table spoon oil to fry
Some coriander chopped to garnish and for the best flavour.
