    It's quite fascinating to witness a self-custody focused company changing its stance to assure users, "You can trust us, though!" all in the pursuit of increasing revenue through a monthly subscription model that literally no one asked for 10/10.
    Fun Fact: If you use Ledger Recovery, your keys could potentially be subject to legal requests from any corresponding country with jurisdiction as confirmed by Ledger's CEO.

      We have seen this already with Liberty safes. Apparently all the safes combinations are stored at the company cloud.. and yes, they've already proven to be anti-liberty as they gave FBI combinations for safes.
      (cue in the "I have nothing to hide/I'm not a criminal/the gov't can do anything they want" annoying ppl)

      So if I use a ledger whatever type and don't choose to activate the recover function it's still the same as before or I'm wrong?
      No idea why all are hating now if that's the case and no one simply activates it.

      @@Deviantard Ledger Recovery is an integral part of the chip embedded in Ledger hardware. It cannot be deactivated, as it remains present irrespective of updates. The problem lies in Ledger's misinformation, as they previously claimed that extracting keys from the hardware was impossible, which is factually incorrect with the introduction of Ledger Recovery.

    This turning the Ledger from a cold wallet to a hot wallet.
    NOTE even with this being an opt in thing. The code is there in the firmware to allow for this. And in this, it has a major security risk if Ledger became a bad actor. Where with a true hardware wallet. It would be impossible for this to happen.

    • @fiftyshadesofurban
      @fiftyshadesofurban Před 7 měsíci

      I have moved away, but not just because of this. Seems after an update to Ledger Live maybe like 3 months before this happened suddenly the Ledger Live app is no longer "live" and requires clearing the cache after every transaction to actually see updates.
      It's annoying and since companies never fix bugs anymore it's pointless to bring it up to them. I'll just get a 1000 hoops to jump through because we assume it's user error type response that leads no where.

      The ledger Nano S is most safe as its the first one and has no hardware to support ledger recover..it was the first ledger built on Your Keys for your COINS!! But its meory is only 143 Kb so you can only put BTC and Ethereum , BSC on it! at once

      @@thevivekmathema There were a couple ledger hardware wallets before the Nano S but they used a chrome app as an interface and were discontinued when the Nano S came out. Also you can put any coins on the Nano S at the same time but can only interact with a few at a time without uninstalling apps to make space.

    • @Ledger
      @Ledger  Před 7 měsíci

      Hey, the Identity Verification (IDV) process used in Ledger Recover is designed to be robust and thorough, using multiple sources of information to confirm your identity. This includes biometric data and a liveness check to ensure a real human is behind the data. Even in the case of identical twins, the IDV process is designed to differentiate between individuals. However, it's important to keep your recovery phrase and device secure to prevent unauthorized access. For more details on how Ledger Recover uses IDV, you can refer to this article: www.ledger.com/blog/part-4-genesis-of-ledger-recover-controlling-access-to-the-backup-identity-verification

    How could you betray trust....

  •  Před 8 měsíci +4

    I don't understand you. The mere fact that there is something in the closed-source code that allows sending a private key out onto the internet is an unacceptable risk for me, which I do not intend to take. And not to mention when someone misuses an ID card and identity. These cases are common. It's an unacceptable security issue with your new wallet feature. Thumbs down. My girlfriend has a Ledger wallet - I regret it. My girlfriend will receive a new Christmas gift from me - a new wallet. We will then ceremoniously burn the Ledger in the fireplace and toast to this moment with a glass of wine. You have tarnished the reputation of trustworthy crypto security.
