The countries of Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 Ghana 🇬🇭 and Togo 🇹🇬 are artificial post colonial political creations. The peoples/tribes of these new countries are related and share a common cultural. They belong to each other. It can be seen in their Kente and Adinkra. One love one people.

Ghanaians and Togolese are culturally related. The Ewe people of Togo are also a significant sizeable ethnic group in Ghana, particularly in the Volta region of Ghana.
The modern countries of Ghana 🇬🇭 and Togo 🇹🇬 are relics of European colonialism and the imposition on artificial borders that are not based on natural ethnic boundaries. So many ethnic groups are distributed across several new countries.
For example the Ewe are a majority in Togo but a minority in Ghana. Similarly the Alan's (an example being the Ashanti) are the majority in Ghana but a minority in Ivory Coast.
Simply put the peoples of Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Togo have a beautiful shared culture. Which can be seen in the kente and adinkra cloths they wear.

Zack Maicok go and check facts I’m an Ashanti and I know what I’m saying. This is solely GHANAIAN!!! Kingship and war made some ASHANTI’s go seek refuge in Ivory Coast or Togo !!! They migrated from Ghana and obviously because they were Ashanti’s they continued to practice the culture and it was adapted by some of the minorities in those countries!!! There is no display of the Adinkra symbol in this video so I don’t see your point and adinkra is also Ashanti (Ghana).. kente is what’s being used in this video which was first woven at a town called BONWIRE in the ASHANTI REGION in GHANA!!!! Every music in this video is from GHANA so please don’t claim the culture for neighbouring countries... ITS SOLEY GHANAIAN CULTURE!!!!
      THANK YOU

Zack Maicok did you read what you just sent? Basically what I just explained in a nutshell... smh Akan/Ashanti is from Ghana and migrated due to war as your link tells you (even the names are full Ashanti Ghanaian names)... I didn’t even have to finish reading please revisit history . Kente isn’t from Togo or Côte d’Ivoire and so is the culture.... PURELY AUTHENTIC GHANAIAN MADE🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭👌🏽✌🏽

You make absolutely no sense.... Before Kwame and colonialization there was no Ghana. The ashanit do not "belong" to Ghana... no The majority of the Ashanti Kingdom is in Ghana... there is difference. Before Ghana even existed in the West coast The Ashanity Kingdom, which didnt even cover all of is today known as Ghana, also included regions of south eastern Ivory Coast and even smaller regions of Togo but not so much. Also which kingship and which war? Any war and migration youre are talking about happened before Ivory coast, Ghana and Togo even existed.. And please dont pretend and act like all of Ghana is or was Ashanti.. stop being ignorant. And no Kente isnt Ghanaian its asante theres a difference. stop making no sense

How can a person be so proud of thei heritage when they have shown to know so little about it and arent even willing to learn let alone like the idea of provoking thought. I see some discussions about the kente. As far as I know, Kente originated from the akan ethnic group located in the current country of Ghana. But since it is akan, people from also ivory coast where it since they are akan too. Just as the fantes, the nzema etc. But as far as I know, it originated from the current country Ghana. Research proofs this as well. But we shouldn't think in the white made borders, it is akan. And akan is not only Ghana. Other wear it too, just like ewe. Probably because the akan has some influence like the ewe probably had on the akan too... So I think that it originated from a region located in current Ghana but now is used and in the culture of our neighbouring countries... people please don't hate on each Other, we are all one. Don't think in the white made borders. It is a beautiful cloth, let us use it to unify us
But! Something I have to mention is that type of Kente and the way they dress as seen is this video is typical Ashanti (the tribe in Ghana) to me. A lot of tribes use Kente but not like this....
Sorry for my bad English. I Don't use it that often haha

Kente is in Ghana Togo and Benin
It is called “Kete” in Togo Benin and in the Volta Region
Togo n Benin has their own history of where it originates from
Even in Lagos Nigeria they have their own version of kente which bears a different name which they use in their anniversaries and they also have their separate history about its origin.
Bottomline, everyone is got their own history surrounding Kente or Kete
It will be best if u don’t use Ur country’s history about Kete to override other countries’ own history
Particularly when u don’t even know their own history about it

Edem Edemwillz my brother. On every source I found, they were all talking about Kente originating from akan Ashanti before being carried by them to others. It is not trying to disrespect other countries or whatsoever. I am just mentioning that what I found states what I say. If you have a different source, fine. Please share so I can learn. But don't say I don't know about other countries. Do I need to know the history of Germany to know that 'stroopwafel' is typical Dutch? And originated from the Netherlands?
So please if you know better show me your source as I am eager to find out if indeed Kente of kete or whatsoever originated from somewhere else. Stay blessed

Edem Edemwillz but to clearify, I really do not care where it originates from. Again, the borders are not made by us. The ewe are in Togo in Ghana. And the akan in Ghana and cote d'Ivoire. Because of that, I think no country can say that something is ours since the tribes don't know that border. But again the Kente I see here is very familiar to how the akan in Ghana do it. Again, please mention if you think otherwise. Stay blessed

Am was a Kete weaver myself
I plied my trade in Ghana Togo and Lagos Badagry before moving to Cambridge UK
Stories of Kete cannot be told from books written by folks who never even saw the process
Just like the Nile being claimed to have been discovered by white folks who actually came to meet people by the Nile
Kete was the most expensive handmade cloth in The Dahomey kingdom year 1600 a kingdom made of the Ewe Mina Fon Aja etc. It only represents royalty. Ordinary folks don’t were it. When white invasion broke the kingdom, the various groups forming the kingdom took their own versions away and localised it.
Even Today in some parts of Togo and Benin
Kete is only worn by only royalty unlike Ghana where everyone wears it.
The Nigerian version still traces its origins back to the kingdom.
The yellowish one shown in the video is only one of the many branches and types of Kete. This particular type was popularised in Ghana by the Akan which they call Kente. Woven in different designs to befit culture and is then marketed to the outside world as Kente from Ghana.
This is just one branch of the whole Kete family. There are different kinds and branches of Kete from source which even the Akan have no idea about. Peace
