    Where did the other comments go. I left you a link to some forums regarding the y pipe and muffler. I hope CZcams didn’t pull it because it had a helpful link and also some good pricing from Xterra owners that had exhaust parts@ good prices..

    Excellent project! Thank you for sharing! My exhaust sounds loud, but no visible rust, damage or leaks. Maybe it’s how it’s suppose to sound? My buddy’s Pathfinder with the same engine idles much quieter. Is this how X’s stock exhaust tuned? Did you notice yours got quieter since the replacement?

    • @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO
      @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey thank you for watching again !
      it was "fun" project for sure.. lol so much I had to cut and drill out because of rusty bolts.. anyhow.. I do think it got quieter a little also has to do prob with the exhaust itself as its not original Nissan.. and I like it I didn't want it to be loud so when I am out in the woods camping I dont want to scare anyone .
      myabe your exhouse is broken inside ? do you hear it rattle inside ?

    • @MaximumDIYGarage
      @MaximumDIYGarage Před 2 lety +1

      @@DIY_AUTO_PHOTO thanks for reply! Well, I know that my cats are shot as there is intermittent rattle heard throughout (the CEL is on intermittently-p0420 and p0430- both catalysts are running below efficiency level). So as I’m preparing for cat replacements, I wonder if I should budget for the entire exhaust replacement. It seems to be loud upon cold start, once it is warmed up, it seems to idle fine. It is a little drony when lugging the engine(I know you’re not supposed to do that), like being in 4th gear at, say 35 mph. Once it is in a lower gear, the drone seems to go away. Maybe I’m just to spoiled by my GX470 whisper quiet exhaust?
      I also get a whining noise from the rear end at speeds above 55mph, the whine increases under load and disappears when I back off the accelerator. Next project is to refresh the rear diff fluid to see if that improves it. Sorry for writing a novel here…

      @@MaximumDIYGarage No worries ! the more information we can share and exchange the better , perhaps some people will read it and it might help them too
      asto the cats need to be careful and replace them asap.. because sometimes as they brake down the small parts can be sucked back into the engine and that can make a lot of problems...
      as to the exhaust yes I would say its better to replace it as well as everything will be apart anyways so just to make things easier and that way you know its all new and good
      at rear diff have you looked at your breather is it still good or it is rusted ... might build up pressure there.. also good to do a rear breather mod

      @MaximumDIYGarage Před 2 lety +1

    • @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO
      @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO  Před měsícem

      @@devinsmith4605 if you can get a stainless exhaust that would be better it would never rust! but then again not sure how long you planning to keep the car. as for the tools well working on exhaust can be hard due to rusted bolts that need to be cut off drilled out.. I would look at them first how they look. perhaps would be easier to get it to the shop . If you haven't worked on cars before. but if you up for a challenge . I would say you might need a dril, grinder , few sockets ( depending on the blot size ) and new parts )
