Nestled in the heart of western Pennsylvania, Zelienople is a town that whispers its rich history through its well-preserved architecture and vibrant community spirit. Founded in 1802 by German immigrants seeking religious freedom, the town has evolved into a quaint haven for residents and visitors alike.
The name Zelienople comes from the name of Baron Dettmar Basse's (1762-1836) eldest daughter. (Zelie was her chosen name, but her given name was Fredericka.) In 1802, Baron Basse purchased 10,000 acres of land in Butler and Beaver counties for 25 cents an acre. He laid out the town of Zelienople and it was chartered as a borough in 1840.
One of the town's charming landmarks is the Strand Theater, a historic venue that has stood since 1914, offering entertainment and a glimpse into the past.
In addition to its historical allure, Zelienople hosts various community events, from parades to arts festivals, fostering a sense of togetherness among its residents. With its inviting atmosphere and historical significance, Zelienople remains a hidden gem, inviting all to explore its small-town charm and welcoming community vibes.

Just love rainy day walking tours. Silent-no talk. Very relaxing with ambient street sounds only. Feels like we're walking along with you. Everyone is afraid to walk in the rain. But you make it easy. And, we get to see such a nice town like this. Love the old-style wood architecture. Pennsylvania and New Jersey are top tier states on the east coast. That is, if these states didn't have such high taxes, cost of living, and crime.
