- Today we died and went to Durian heaven here in Malaysia.
Durian season is just upon us in Malaysia and that means one thing - time to try Malaysia's finest musang king durian, a day I've been waiting for a long time.
We were invited to spend the day with Nelson from Musang Valley Plantation. We're super grateful he made our time in Gua Musang very special.
Throughout the day we ate hakka Chinese snacks, tried some musang king ice cream then visited the old Gua Musang railway station and took in some of the towns beauty.
Then the moment we've dreamed of we went to explore Nelson Durian farm and tried musang king for the first time... It was beautiful.
When we thought the day couldn't get any better we all went for Durian cendol together back in Gua Musang. It was official this was the best day of our lives.
Thanks so much to Nelson for making this possible 🇲🇾❤️

Does Malaysia have the best Durian? What's your favourite Durian variety?
Huge thanks to Nelson for the best day ever we were truly in Durian Heaven 🇲🇾
Malaysian hospitality is special 🙏
I love musang king but my favourite is Udang merah. Its sweeter than musang king.
@@thetruth3462 Sounds well good we have to try when we can
@@EllisWRthere are so so many varieties of durian in malaysia. Udang merah, IOI, black thorn, XO just to name a few. Try some of them.. because depending on one’s taste, some of them can taste better than musang king. But musang king takes the creamiest durian award. Its not the sweetest though.
@@thetruth3462 We need to try them all
@@EllisWRUdang merah aka red prawn, one of the variety Nelson mentioned in this video. Red prawn durian is like the champion of durian before Musang king is born. Unlike mustang king which usually carry a small hint of bitterness (some durian lovers like bitterness in the durian flavor, like me), red prawn are just pure sweetness.
Thank you Nelson for your kind Malaysian hospitality to our Brother and Sister 🤗
🇲🇾❤️
A big thank you to Nelson for you hospitality. This is what you get to experience if you reach out to locals.
Yeah the way Nelson and Jeff looked after us in Gua Musang was incredible. They wanted nothing in return they are kind hearted people
@@EllisWRdifferent with people of some country they treat u really nice then lastly u need 2 pay for their service..even its not ur request for their service.Very funny lol..
@@mohdwariey Yeah we hate that it's terrible behaviour. Malaysia is a great place full of good people

Thank you to Nelson for the hospitality of Malaysian. And thank you to your amazing video. Great job guys.
Amazing man 🙏🇲🇾
Im glad to hear that you have the opportunity to taste Msia's best durian the Musang King, even though it is still not the best durian season over in Kelantan. Glad that our kind Mr Nelson was generous enough to bring you over to his durian orchard. Enjoy your stay over in Msia. By the way it is durian season over in Johore, the Southern state of Msia. Njoy your stay....
He was a true gentleman 🇲🇾❤️
Great video Ellis and Alicia! What a memorable experience for you both. Nelsons English is fantastic, his generosity is heartwarming.

I love durian kampung. Cheaper and love the surprise different flavors and textures with each durian. Musang king is bit bitter for me.
Very kind and generous of Nelson.
Nelson was such a good bloke. Kampung is also great aye
Once (and if) you like durian, then your life has changed. Once a year you will crave for durian....apples will not cut it anymore
I agree. Life will never be the same
you have found the treasure. congratulations! welcome to Malaysia.

Wow such beautiful nature. You guys are definitely so lucky. So happy to see you enjoy Malaysian durians...

Awesome video. Been passing thru Gua Musang several times, and your video is inviting me to stay longer there. Nelson is a good example of Malaysian hospitality. We feel extra proud when people from other cultures enjoy the same things that we enjoy. I like all your clips Ellis. Amazing.
He is a legend. Thanks so much 🙏
Everytime when its durian season, many Malaysians (and foreigners too) will turn to zombies going around town looking for durians zooming towards the durian odour and gorge themselves silly like there is no tomorrow. Once the season is over all of them will turn back as normal citizens. UNTIL next season.
Ahaha the best season
The best hour long vlog. Watched for start to the end.
I proper appreciate that 🙏
Alright geezer!
I like Kampong durian. To me is like a lottery scatch card. Sometimes you get some amazing taste which is far beyond imagination.
I remembered i had one last year and it was literally taste like surgary butter!
I like that, the surprise ahah the possibility of finding a legend
Yes I got a super bitter one just before d pandemic. Friend offered us n there was a giant worm. That means no pesticides! So we all immediately jogged to the stall. I picked out the most crooked one n got.lucky!
@@EllisWR if you hang around longer in Malaysia, try the fruit call duku ( I thinks that's how it spell, usual season is July)
Amazing, little citrusty / sweet/ taste little bit like grape fruit.
I usually get 3 kilos and smashed them in one afternoon.
@@Complain2023 Cheers it's on the list now!
@@Complain2023 Do you mean duku or langsat ?
Those are two different things. We don't want Ellis and Elisha to eat anything anyhow 😊
Duku are larger with thick skin. Langsat are smaller with thin skin.
If you mean langsat, then I absolutely agree with you. 🥰
Thank u for this wonderful video n for showing your explorations for durian in Malaysia.
Cheers always!
@@EllisWR Cheers. 😄
I love Nelson. Great video once again 😊
He was an absolute Legend. Cheers Gareth hope alls well 🙏
Wow i want durian cendol now. Glad your guys like durian. Gd job Nelson & friends
Thanks for watching!
Hihi Ellis how are you doing?
Thank you Nelson a great person and amazing video..... Unbelievable both of you love to eat durian 😀Bravo🙌🙌🙌
Thanks so much Shirley
Love to put durian in the fridge and eat them chilled/cold. Like a natural creme brulee/ ice cream. Some of the variants have a hint of bitterness in them - love them all.
I describe it as a sweet garlic custard maybe.
Beautiful stuff isn't it.
@@EllisWR Your video is very educational as well. Thank you !
The rempeyek (peyek) is very very traditional and usually eaten during Eid in the rural Malay society. It's good that people starts to commercialise it more now. Few of my aunts (born around 1920 - 1945) used to make it back in my parents' village. The rempeyek use ground peanuts, but you can also get mung beans and dhal beans varieties (called Tumpi).
Yes i’m also put it in freezer
Hey mate,im appreciate it,im super enjoy watching your vlog,it amazing..im grateful for visiting malaysia and sharing our culture to the world 🌎 you're are one of a kind..im from Malaysia kl living in London..i can't watching more of your vlog. Your a star 🌟 🤩

Cheers for watching!
Love your video, people like me to wait until august for durian, rambutan and other local tropical fruit season..now is expensive
Yeah I would wait too!!
You guys are rare species 😅
It's hard to find a foreigner that love durian.
Another thing is not everyone in Malaysia have the chance to eat durian in durian orchard.
I've done that a few times, it tasted better eating durian under durian tree.
Yeah foreigners are weirdos that's why we don't spend our time around them ahah. This was an amazing day we were so grateful 🇲🇾🙏
U guy look more Asian now.
Wow, just wow❤
🇲🇾🙏
Terbaik Nelson! Demo meme kemah keming! 👍
Such a good man
Wow! Durian 👌
It was sooo good Supatra do you like?
Malaysian durians are the best quality and super delicious in the world..
Recently, Thai's durian traders smuggled Malaysian Musang King durians (from Raub, Pahang especially) and renamed them as "Thai Musang King" and they exported them to China..
I agree 🇲🇾❤️
I love durian so much but in KL and selangor they sell expensive. 😢....btw you need to drink water a lot after eat durian. It makes your body temperature high.
Yeah thanks for tips! Yes KL is high price!
You realy love malaysia a lot memori you cant forget
Yeah this day we will never forget the hospitality is top tier
Woww...its great..

No the kindness these locals showed us was incredible
Durian kampung d24 mmg sedap' 😋👍

Wow the longest videos ever..another milestone.😊😊😊.
Ahah was too good of a day to shorten this video
East Malaysian durian..some are call larit,dalit..and few other names depending on the tribes tongue. Some are red, yellow, pale colour. This type does not generate a lot of heat to the body comparing to the big durian.less potent smell, yummy and can be eaten in large quantity.
@@Jack-bd4ep would love to try
Those snacks at the start wowzers 🤤
They were so good honestly unlike anything else
WoW An Angmor enjoying eating durian
That's a rare sight
We love the stuff
Well done. Not many UK CZcamsrs can stand durian let alone appreciate it. From my observation, Scandinavians with strong smelly cheese culture generally accept durian.
Your thoughts?
I think they shouldn't be travelling making videos if their too ignorant to try things with an open mind and curious palate, woops...
@@EllisWR - spot on me lad!
@@EllisWR Some youtubers may try eating insects & bugs for youtube videos but still many people including some north Asians and few Malaysian ourselves find the smell and taste of Durian repulsive (not me luckily). This is one controversial fruit that you either love it or hate it, very few people are in between, 😁
@@alexlee2765 I don't understand how it smells and tastes beautiful! We also enjoy eating bugs. We enjoy everything haha
ABC is Air Batu Campur... Air = Water, Batu = Rock/Stone, Air Batu = Ice, Campur = Mix ...so yes it got everything mixed in the ice.

Hi E & A, still watching. 😊
Your the best Panna 🙏 Few more thailand series are in the works this year I think you'll enjoy!
We also have durian orchard on our village, and I think you guys should come to malaysia again when the durian start falling(rippen) from the tree. Maybe try do some durian harvesting yourself, and I assure you that you will love durian even more .

In Singapore, Musang King costs SGD$25 per kilo and that is with The husk. After dehusked we’d get like 600grams. Its The king of fruits and it has to be that expressive. Watching u Eat that musang King makes me wanna grab some for myself 😆

The moment of truth, Duri(thorn) an. You didn't even flinch putting it into your mouth. Bravo to both of you being able to enjoy the most expensive fruit in the world. It's like mining gold.. Look at the musang King flesh. When I see or hear most westerners describe durian taste like garlic or onions, my eyes just roll on Hearing it. It's not even close. It's unique in itself and you just described it as sweet, bitter sweet, or bland depending or the species. Basically a cacophony of taste that feels you with endorphins n pleasure entwined together. Surely an experience that you will never forget and wish you should always eat it fresh as its the best. Frozen exported durians. No way. It's not the same. Nelson was fantastic describing in detail about durian . Kudos to him. Durian season happen twice a year. June & December usually. So you know when to come again. 😂
Thanks so much for the kind words. Yeah when I see foreigners say its disgusting and pull their face I'm wondering if their eating the same fruit as me ahaha they have no idea.
Love the way you described it
I think you are becoming more like a Malaysian when you mention ' foreigner' 😂. I think it will be hard for you when you go back to UK and think of the kindness and food you have encountered in Malaysia. I have been to a fair amount or countries and it's difficult to beat Malaysia in terms of the diversity and tastiness or food we have over here if we look at it objectively. You have been a great ambassador for Malaysia in telling the world what you have experience here unbiasely. Brilliant. 😊
Thanks so much
You tasted the best in the world.
Malaysian Durian is better than thai durian. Its a no contest.. sorry my thai friens 🙏😅
Yeah hands down malaysian durian is just beautiful. Left to fall naturally ahh heaven
It's okay, as long as Chinese people like Thai durian. And have ordered a lot from us, we are already very happy. Although Thai durian can't compete with Malaysian durian.

the best ever durian
Yes 🇲🇾❤️
I would describe the texture of Durian as Thick Cream packed into a thin Crepe Skin holding a redundant smooth rock(the seed) in the middle.
As for the taste it is definitely sweet sometimes with a hint of bitterness similar to burned sugar in Cream Brulee.

So they export the durians?
Bit of everything
@EllisWR he is correct, malaysian durian is premium in China and Hong Kong. Most durians sold in China and supermarkets in North America are thai durians. Monthong. Musang king, is the premium one. Very difficult to get in the world except singapore. Most tourists in singapore thought durians there are singapore durians. Totally untrue.
