They both jumped off her lap but 1 came at the guy from the side & the other one from the back. RIP intruder. Course they didn't test a GSD, Malinois or Doberman, the guy probably wouldn't have survived.🤣🤣🤣
I've never had close experience with chihuahuas to comment on their intelligence. I've found them to be the most aggressive dogs toward be when out running, though. Partly from their own nature (VERY aggressive - until I turned around and they were all "I didn't mean it!". Back to running "Oh yeah you BETTER run!") and partly because I took them far less seriously than I did a loose Rottweiler or other large dog.
As a Doberman owner for the last 35 years I agree with the description. Dobermans are so impressive, they only have to look at someone to impose fear and terror. I stopped counting the number of times I saw someone changing street's side when I was walking my Doberman even if we were several hundred feet apart. But for their family the Doberman is a big baby.
We had one that used to come to the kennel I worked at named Bear. If he was quiet he looked impressive, but his nickname among the staff was Howly Bearie, because *how dare* anyone walk by and not love on him.

We had a Boxer who’d not even lookup when our mail was delivered. But if it was a food delivery he’d be glued up against the door with his tail wagging faster than a food mixer! ❤
Tail?...lol, about the ONLY thing my Boxers bark at is the guy in the big brown truck, one wants to be his best friend and the other sounds like he wants to eat him...
I loved my Boxer. What a good dog. My dad was dying of cancer and could not lift his hands so my dog would nuzzle under his hand just so my dad could pet her. What a good dog.
Our boxer hummed at ambulances. Took us quite a while to figure out that was what was going on. All of the boxers we had were escape artists. Opening doors with doorknobs and such. One of them even managed to get out of a locked bench and we still do not know how she managed that. Very smart, in very specific ways.
Ours has been a Labrador household for over 30 years and several of them were just this happy-go-lucky. In the midst of the Lab pack, however, we had one Chihuahua for 16 years. Your portrayal was spot on! She was the only dog that ever had to be "sequestered " in another room when we had visitors.
Rottweilers are _KNOWN_ for their strange behavior of letting people IN but not letting them leave. That's when they show you their teeth and you hear their deep baritone growls. Trust me. It's happened to me multiple times.
@@dogscratchedoor I am so sorry! That wasn't my intention. Many Rotties are actually very sweet. I just happened to not have met one. Maybe it's just me? But they don't bite unless I challenge them (by trying to leave). The moment I moved, teeth are bared and that low rumbling (from somewhere in their chest) continues until their human parent comes and gets them.
Rottweilers can be absolutely adorable. I met one on my route that was being walked by a small, middle-aged woman. Very sweet and gentle. :) I also delivered mail to a place with a Rottie. At first, the owners kept her tethered, so she'd just bark like mad, but then after telling me she was alright, I asked if she could get my scent. After that, she was just in the garden, and whenever I entered it, she'd come over to 'check my passport' as I liked to call it. Then she left as if to say: "Okay, you're cleared." I can understand being scared of Rotties and large dog breeds, but it's more important to check behaviour than breed, even if some breeds are statistically more dangerous than others.
My dachshund (major Napoleon complex) escaped when my husband was going out the front door and ran to attack two Rottweilers (wearing muzzles) who were being walked past our house. The dogs just stood there like they couldn't believe the audacity! My little dude HATED big dogs and chihuahuas! (he actually tried to bite a horse once!). Edit: He, however, was scared of our little grey tabby cat... She was born feral and knew how to take care of herself.
@@Nikki-tx6khso true. I have a Pugzu and a Rottweiler. My rottie frequently knocks my Pugzu flying when playing cause she doesn’t realise how big she is and he just comes barrelling back at her cause he thinks he’s a T-Rex 😂😂.
I love how you were able to capture a side the Poodle that's beyond simply the "how's my hair?" super pampered aspect of them that's usually all you see when you see Poodle portrayals. You really know dog breeds insanely well!
You missed the Shiba. Our Postie lives in fear of him; the psychotic Shiba scream and fence chewing is terrifying to witness. If he manages to get hold of the post it’s RIP mail.
So Mom's GSD and my Shiba were silently menacing as a salesman tried to talk his way past the front porch. The salesman didn't even look at the dogs because they were sitting silently, GSD at Mom's knee and Shiba with me and he knew nothing of canine body language. Both dogs were intensely alert and aware that we didn't welcome the salesman. They watched him fiercely, looked to me and Mom hoping we would signal them to defend us, and glanced at each other to confirm the battle plan. The Shiba was telling the GSD "If our humans say yes, you go high and I'll get his ankles. " The GSD's eyes answered, "Dude, I've got this. But if you want to tag along, go for the Achilles tendon." They were so dramatic, Mom and I collapsed in giggles when the fool left and our furbabies returned to Defcon 1. He never had a clue. I miss those dogs. Both were black and tan, so together they had a Laurel and Hardy look. 🖖✌
@@kitlee172 I got my Shiba almost accidentally. He needed to be rehomed and I fell in love without knowing a thing about the breed. I grew up training dogs and horses, but suddenly had to up my game a lot. I had never had to work so hard at convincing a dog I was pack leader. He was a darling, unusually cuddly for a Shiba. Liked sleeping in my arms and having his ears fondled, which is abnormal for Shibas. Runaway bandit if he got loose, which is a breed standard.🖖✌
My Shiba never chewed on the fence, but he did attempt to dig UNDER the fence at one point. It wasn't mail-related, though; he REALLY wanted to go look in the storm drain (it smelled weird) and we wouldn't let him. He got stuck under the fence and my mom had to help him get out. He had actually been secretly working on a tunnel under the fence for several days, it turned out; it was just all the way in the back corner of the backyard so no one could see it. Presumably because his two PREVIOUS attempts to dig under the fence failed because we kept filling in the partially-made tunnels with big rocks. We never did figure out what was in the storm drain that made it smell weird, by the way.
I will never forget Daifuku, the Shiba inu of my foster family in Japan. If it was up to him he would never let in or out of the house, I had two phrases I used each time I left the house "I'm off" and "Fuck off Daifuku".
@@TinyLittleRabbit Mine doesn't talk unless he's telling me off. He doesn't howl unless he's going to barf or it's after midnight and winter is coming. So true. I carried mail down in the States for two summers and one Christmas season. People thought the stories of dogs and mailmen were apocryphal. Ha! There were times when I would put the mail in the slot in the front door and hear it being shredded inside the house. And then there were times when the dogs would say hello. One never knew.
Well, not all gsd’s. Mine would demand cuddles and belly rubs as the price of entering the yard. This is how she protects our acreage. Killing them with love.
As an owner of two GSDs, I can say with utmost certainty that there is no way they would phone out the confrontation to a Malinois. All the fun is in scaring the crap out of the “guest.”
We had one when I was a kid and her initial training was by my sister who worked with drug dogs in the USAF. Very sweet and even tempered dog. The only person she didn't like was my uncle and it was entirely his fault for taunting her and being a general prick. One day he was coming into our house through the attached garage where she happened to be. She went around the car and was sneaking up behind him VERY 'intently' when she was sternly told "NO!". My uncle had no idea she was even there.
@@realityquotient7699 It is very humbling to know that my two GSDs could probably kill me at any given moment. That is why they always get treats right before bed. If they are going to sleep next to me, I want to be on their good side. Ever since, he has never tried doing anything like that again.

I was attacked and bitten by a poodle when I was little. I was just standing next to my mom at the coffee table in the garden, then *BAM* there's a dog chewing on my belly.
Same! I have a pit mix now, and she has NOTHING on poodles. They were sneaky lil ninjas when it came to biting strangers…pretending to be asleep one minute, hanging off your ankle the next lol
I was raised with a poodle. She was awesome towards kids but if someone she didn't know came around she'd go guard mode. Even then all my mom had to do to turn her from guard dog to friendly sweetheart was say "it's ok girl". Everywhere that dog went she got comments on how well behaved she was. The groomers adored her. She was the best dog I've ever met. On the other hand a mini poodle tried to attack my current dog completely unprovoked. I picked my dog up and the poodle kept jumping up trying to bite my dog. I had to kick at it to get it to go away.
When I was little my grandma had a poodle with the same name as my nickname. I hated that. The dog hated me right back, and we took turns trying to end each other.
The Beagle is so very true! Our Stuart the Beagle is very friendly, nosy, and as my mom says, "isn't a very brave little dog!" 😂 I do love him so and he is good company!

I luv the idea of the Chihuahua (a noble Aztec warrior) is now Celtic or a Norse Berzerker. Hysterical. Border Collies have that really bossy stare in addition to the cat like moves.

Kinda curious if he'll do a Borzoi. I only ever met one on a route, and his reaction was to freeze in fear and just stay rooted to the spot until I was gone. Met him a hundred times, and he never got used to me.
My favorite are Great Danes. The silent horses that teleport in from some unknown hiding spot. With heads larger than the mailbox and eyes that stare unblinking straight into your soul.
I've got neighbors who know LITERALLY everyone in town (it's tiny ~1000 oeople) because their beagle escapes so often and gets into ANY car for a ride. They also live near where there's river access so plenty of out-of-towners have met Bugsy.

These were lovely. As a former owner of a schnauzer standard that have two friends one with a mini and one with a giant... I can tell you that each of them sizes are quite different in character. The giants are clumsy gentle Giants, the minis are hyperactive bundles of dynamite, and the standard, at least mine, was very quiet and fond of sneak attacks... story time: one time my uncle came home to visit. We couldn't meet at my house until quite late, but he had the keys (long story) so he went to my house left to buy something to eat then came back. And locked the door. The house is pitch black until you switch the light. The moment my uncle locked the door he felt something hurting his right arm. It was my pet. It seems that I had left him inside and he decided until what he perceived as a robber was locked in to attack. Both my uncle and my dog were okay. Afterwards
I just wanted to say that I LOVE the way you portray Rottie’s in your videos. People seem to think that they are scary and aggressive when actually they’re lazy and scared of a lot of stuff. Mine is scared of feathers ffs. And won’t get out of bed until her cat friend gets up which could be after 10am sometimes. Lazy af. Oh, and she has no concept or personal space. I could be going to the loo and she there. She comes on the school run too. She’s also a therapy dog and I take her to hospitals and schools. Total love bugs. Thank you for making these awesome videos xx
Chihuahua gnawed him off at the ankles, lol. Love my Dobies, the person who tried to break in my house one time, not so much. We never had any problems after that and it was worth cleaning up the mess my puppy made. Also saw a guy try to jump our six foot back fence to get away from the cops. He went over with our Beagle attached to his leg, the cops didn't have any problem catching him.
Came home from a quick trip to town years ago and found our 5 pound chihuahua successfully guarding our yard from a crew of workers who wanted to install our new windows😂 and she hadn't even bothered to wake our boxer lab mastiff cross for back up😊
I see the aggressive chihuahua trope a lot. It really surprises me. Since the majority of chihuahuas I've been around are really people friendly. They do tend bark but most of the time they don't bite. Even with the aggressive chihuahuas I've met it usually takes a firm no and just standing your ground to get them to stop. I did get attacked by one that wouldn't stop but that one was legitimately feral. I think it's because due their small size their behavior isn't taken seriously.
My chihuahua is the exact opposite of that, she doesn't have a single mean bone in her body, she rarely ever barks and I don't think I've ever heard her growl before. She's just pure sweet.
Our chihuahua always greets the mailman and then wants to go with him 🤣 She does throw a tantrum when other strangers, dogs/cats or even guests are passing by/ring the doorbell, though 😅
Seek the dog whose activity level (high energy vs couch potato), IQ (smart and not so), and personality (chihuahuas have very strong opinions and labradors are very easy going) matches yours. Mutts can be great too. Adopting an older dog is a great introduction to dogs because they're usually house trained and shelter personnel often are very helpful with info about a specific dog, especially in a no kill shelter. As a new owner of a puppy you must let your dog out immediately after waking up and eating to relieve itself (also bedtime) and you should attend obedience school with your dog ASAP. It is priceless in teaching you how dogs reason (it's not the same).
Just adding to all the great info already shared. There are online tests that help you know which breeds fit with you, besides the personality, energy and IQ, you have to mind the space you live in. I have a bulldog princess and that’s the level of activity I can manage 😂. Also, make sure you understand what you want your dog to be to you. Do you want companionship or protection? Family or just for you? It’s difficult to have a guarding dog that will seat peacefully in a family gathering.
You also need to take into account weather or not you have allergies, or if anyone you're close to, like a partner, has them. If so, adopting from a shelter won't be an option for you because you can't guarantee the breed.
I’ve met a few cocker spaniels in my neighborhood, and various parts of this description absolutely feel accurate 😁… The socialite aspect feels so real, and at any given time I might be invited to the next soirée or totally off the list 😆!
Yeah ---- Chihuahua's. My little guy is best described as 5 pounds of dog with 50 pounds of attitude. He might be small, bark like a madman and be more than a little arrogant at times --- but he's also a charmer, totally silly and the most loyal pup, ever.
They are SO smart, so ornery and so very loyal. They will lie right by your side even if you are ill and have to stay in bed for several days. They will defend you and their property to the death. Chihuahuas are a wonderful breed. People underestimate them because they are small. Not a smart thing to do. ♥: )

@@butters4596 LOL, yes! I pet/house sat for some dear friends regularly and their white lab would send me and them on regular adventures if she managed to get out off leash. It was great fun for her. Absolutely adored that adventuresome girl.
Guess I was lucky. My black lab, Blue, used to grab her leash and take herself for a walk. She only trotted off a couple of times, but she'd take off running if there was snow.
I have a Rottie mix. Had someone tell me once, when our dog ran from him and put herself next to me, that her breed will act like they're running away but that they're really just moving closer to defend their people and be, like, a barrier.
My dog, a female beagle/pinscher mix, does not like any other dogs in our town, especially female dogs. Her reaction ranges from neutral to totally ballistic, with barking and growling, etc. So, I generally walk her in more secluded areas and cross the street when we happen to encounter other dogs. @@CatharinaShields My kids grew up with GSDs. I had 5 GSDs over the years, and they were all wonderful. The kids are now grown and have their own families. I raised them basically by myself, with the help of the dogs! Now, I'm retired and live alone, with my Rottie mix, Miss Ingrid Bergman.
@@danacasey8543 Wow. Hats off to you, Dana. And hats off to your GSDs!
We had a Boxer who’d not even lookup when our mail was delivered.
But if it was a food delivery he’d be glued up against the door with his tail wagging faster than a food mixer! ❤
Boxers are amazing ❤❤❤
My boxer pitt is such a foodie! 😂
As a mailman i can confirm that some of these have happened to me and my colleagues
Rottweilers are _KNOWN_ for their strange behavior of letting people IN but not letting them leave. That's when they show you their teeth and you hear their deep baritone growls. Trust me. It's happened to me multiple times.
Well that just sounds plain terrifying and justifies my deep fear of Rotties.
Yeah, our Rottweiler did exactly the same thing!
My neighbour's Rotties never want us to leave but that's because they want more cuddles
Oh how I love Dachshunds! Love your story! So accurate. : )

All so accurately hilarious! I especially love that the mailman thinks he can outrun the Malinois! 😂
You missed the Shiba. Our Postie lives in fear of him; the psychotic Shiba scream and fence chewing is terrifying to witness. If he manages to get hold of the post it’s RIP mail.
I wanted one of those, until I realized they’re psycho killlers in a cute fur suit. 😳

So true. I carried mail down in the States for two summers and one Christmas season. People thought the stories of dogs and mailmen were apocryphal. Ha! There were times when I would put the mail in the slot in the front door and hear it being shredded inside the house. And then there were times when the dogs would say hello. One never knew.

My brother once jokingly punched me in my arm during a visit, and my male GSD, who knows him very well, still got in between us and growled at him. Ever since, he has never tried doing anything like that again.

Our mailman carries a bag of treats in his van. All the neighborhoods love him. When the van appears, it's like a canine ticker tape parade.
Having been raised with poodles my entire childhood, I can verify I was definitely afraid for my life. 🐩🏴☠️🐩🏴☠️🐩 Innocent my ass.
I was attacked and bitten by a poodle when I was little. I was just standing next to my mom at the coffee table in the garden, then *BAM* there's a dog chewing on my belly.
I grew up with a poodle and he was always very sweet to me. Otherwise he was more of a grumpy old man in the shape of a poodle.

Afterwards
He has me roaring laughing every time! His impressions are spot on! Great acting and video editing. ❤😂😂😂

Lol, that Beagle should work for the police! 😁

The expressions are always my fave part. ^_^
The chihuahua's eyes will haunt my nightmares. 💀
My chihuahua is the exact opposite of that, she doesn't have a single mean bone in her body, she rarely ever barks and I don't think I've ever heard her growl before. She's just pure sweet.
You are blessed from above !! Rare indeed.
Our chihuahua always greets the mailman and then wants to go with him 🤣 She does throw a tantrum when other strangers, dogs/cats or even guests are passing by/ring the doorbell, though 😅
I wish I had a dog but I don't know which one to have. ALSO this was an amazing video, the expressions are everything.
@@DJ-sv7xf Thank you for this info
@@aliceradio You're very welcome.
His neighbors must be worried about his sanity LoL

My dog, a female beagle/pinscher mix, does not like any other dogs in our town, especially female dogs. Her reaction ranges from neutral to totally ballistic, with barking and growling, etc. So, I generally walk her in more secluded areas and cross the street when we happen to encounter other dogs.
However, there is ONE dog she adores: a little male chihuahua who also HATES all of the other dogs around here. But for some reason, the two of them absolutely LOVE each other!! His owner and I always get a laugh out of how they start furiously wagging even from a distance. Of course, he does have that crazed chihuahua look in his eyes. I would never dare to pet him!🤣
