So I built my first DIY floating desk (so I can finally see my PC now!), but also added a new monitor and of course, more LED lights. I believe the solution to the rough edges when you cut the butcher block is to put tape where you are going to cut. Cut through the tape, it keeps the edges from fraying.

On cutting that butcher block... It will pull to the right if you don't have the blade 100% aligned with the plate. The smoking is because as you cut through, the wood will pinch the blade. The chipout you saw is because of the way a circular saw cuts. It cuts from bottom to top -- so if your nice side is face up, then you need to either (or both) .. masking tape down where you want to cut and/or use a thin piece of sacrificial board on top to help reduce it. (Table and mitre saws rotate the opposite direction, btw). Wonderful video and great build!

I think you are both right haha, for me, I try to be as patient as possible, but also I set my own deadlines for things when it comes to video creation, only way to get it done. So I either rush it, or never finish at a certain point in the process

thank you, and awesome! Yea white + black is difficult to achieve, there's a balance for sure. I've noticed that if you're not a minimalistic person (like myself), it's good to have an accent color or colors to complement the black and white. If you're minimal, then white and black with no accent colors looks better

would place a piece of wooden panel against the wall screwed in to the studs so you can screw in the supports of your desk to alot stronger material as you already crushed the drywall it wil only continu to sink in to the wall those supports in the long run

Definitely make sure to reinforce the brackets in the wall with a bit more than just cardboard bro, that's only going to be a very temporary fix.
I'd recommend getting a a wooden plate that you can screw into the studs, and then screw the brackets into that. It'll add more strength, it won't crush the drywall, and also helps with sound dampening.
If I had the money I would definitely make one similar

why didnt u use some 2x4s cut on a angle to support the desk even more wud still make it seem like its floating and u can cut some gaps to installing some led strips into the 2x4.

wait is your desk screwed into the drywall? hopefully you checked the wall for a wood beam cus drywall is not strong enough to hold or secure for that weight. love the setup tho

Yea I was activating my own alexa while editing so it just made sense to censor it so that doesn't happen to others. Cause I be screaming at alexa to shut up whenever that happens

surprisingly no, not yet anyways, but they are usually off unless I'm home and on my computer. So max a couple hours a day because I mostly work in the office
