Wow - that is a crazy story indeed. I am glad everything worked out in the end and it makes me wonder whether he took a closer look at the aoe2 community after all those years.
Just went through the same process (had been to Iran - but of course, did not lose my passport in the process ;), my visa was more or less approved after 4 questions. So I guess you would have been fine anyway, still: Love it when AoE2 still makes people smile, even at US embassies ;)
A shitty situation, and I'm sorry that you had to endure such a great amount of stress. But a lovely story and how lovely is it that our game has touched so many people throughout their lives!
That makes the two of us. I was in Heidelberg at the same time as you (for RBW) and I had my passport stolen a week earlier. Also needed a US visa :D The process to get everything back was so much more complicated but finally worked out 111
O.M.G this is why I always try to find a friend when I am traveling to another city for anything important. It's for small things from information to any urgent help.
Postal Sorting Machines really can't handle passports. You need special, reinforced envelopes or they'll rip betweed the rolls. I even suggest you use two pieces of Carton to press the passport in betweenthe next time you try that, that will cause it to be sent to the heavier mailing machines.
All that over some bad tape on the envelope! Crazy stuff. I'm always scared by how much autonomy these visa people have though. I understand that most countries have no obligation to let you in, but now there's just some people who decide based on whether they like you or not...
Ja, man! Einfach mal das Visa approven, einfach nur, weil man das gleiche Spiel gespielt hat! Endlich vernünftige Gesetzgebung! 11 Interessante Geschichte.
lol reminds me of the game papers, please. welcome to the US Nili. Since you're staying in the south west for some time I recommend visiting Zion national park if you get near vegas.
I'm watching this video right after coming from a logistic center from the post service in Barcelona. They've lost my passport. The US embassy was supposed to mail it to me. I don't know how I'll get back to the US

Sometimes really annoying what someone has to do for quite unnecessary reasons. Feels nili
Well after all that chaos I hope you enjoy your trip Nili 😊
What a crazy story! Love the aoe2 connection at the end though :)
I've had similar situations with random people knowing about aoe2 and giving irl perks

That's how it feels to do the most trivial paperwork with the administration here in Spain.
locker technology might not catch on, it would be a waste of money to put a storage system in the embassy only for it to become obsolete
I all seriousness, I can understand why: you could have bomb in the backpack, so I understand that they don't want luggage in their building.
Hahahaha such a awesome story! :D I wonder if the embassy guy is playing AoE 2 right now :D :D
