    To try to clarify some confusion here. The greens feel like the dragon pit incident was a loss for them because it happened right under the green's noses during Aegon's coronation. In terms of politics any time your enemy attacks and you aren't able to defend or prevent it, it reflects badly on your rule is perceived and will make people think "Well if he can't protect himself at his own coronation then he is weak, doesn't deserve respect, isn't fit to be king in the first place." and when you're fighting a war of legitimacy you don't want to give any ground when it comes to what people might think.
    On the subject of the green council advising not to have dragons follow their army, their argument is one of escalation prevention. If they use their dragons they are guaranteed that dragons will be used against them risking the lives of their dragons and riders. The issue is it will be obvious when either side uses their dragon as anyone will be able to spot them shadowing an army and thus they would have to respond with their own dragon and a fight between dragons is an incredible risk since their own leaders are the ones riding them and if they lose even one it could mean a total loss of the war.
    The concern brought up that their dragonless army would be attacked by a dragon is that if they did then they'd respond with their own which I'm guessing is what is going to happen because of Baela's stunt they're going to message back and call for support which is how we're going to have the escalation at Rook's Rest that results in what both sides were hoping to avoid.

    The only reason Rhaenyra managed to sneak in KL unscathed is because her name is Rhaenyra “Targaryen”.
    If her name is Rhaenyra “Stark” or “Martell”, her head would have fallen off immediately.

    I love how ripped Aemond was because he’s described even as a baby as “half as robust as his elder brother, but twice as fierce”. And you also get the sense that Aegon is a little softer, like Viserys, in terms of body type, but it really gets to the point that Aemond could kill his brother easily-if he wanted to. Just like everyone always (accurately) said about Daemon and Viserys. The thing is that Aemond’s trauma from Aegon is much deeper and compounded by Rhaeneyra’s sons’ involvement. So Aegon needs to be very careful because if Aemond decided to kill his brother right now, he would become king, since Maelor has not been born yet according to the show.

    • @indrys7719
      @indrys7719 Před 18 dny +2

      On top of that, I do subscribe to the Aemond and Maegor parallels. So it’s not out of the question that Aemond could kill Aegon, sort of like Maegor did to Aegon the uncrowned, and then marry Jaehaera (unless they introduce a certain book character, who I think was introduced this episode) and then we have Aemond fighting to secure his claim.

    So I'm not sure if you guys watch the after show called The house that dragons built, if not watching you definitely should as it's very informative. On that show they explain the reason they did not start the tapestry change until after episode 2 and it's because it would have almost been a spoiler if they had shown the funeral procession in the tapestry before they actually did the scene.

    I think they meant that by bringing a dragon, that pretty much guarantees any encounter will escalate into a bloodbath. If they make a move without a dragon the Blacks will be more inclined to respond in kind, not risk a unilateral escalation. It kinda makes sense, but I'd agree that the Blacks have no army right now, so the only thing they are going to respond with are dragons.

    *spoiler talk*
    If we assume that Otto and Gwayne die different than in the books (which makes sense imo), my pet peeve is that Otto would die at after Tumbleton, possibly even serving a certain poisoned wine. Because with all the dark things he does, I have the specific impression that Otto is _not_ selfish. He does everything he does for the benefit of his House and/or the realm (or what he perceives their benefit). You can clearly see this when he gets booted by Viserys, and when he gets booted again by Aegon. In both cases he absolutely _believes_ that what he did was _best_, and not for his own benefit.

And let's not ignore how in this Medieval society the overwhelming majority of people will only ever see their rulers depicted on coins.

      “Well what was the point she hoped to achieve?”

    My guess is that they kinda dropped the ball with Rhaenyra the Pacifist post Luke's death. If Rhaenyra remained a pacifist after her son was killed, what could possibly propel her to go to war? The only way forward would be if she knows she is supported by her father through and through and that her song of ice and fire is reaffirmed. They kinda supported this scene with Daemon vs Rhaenyra last episode. I still think this is incredibly weak though, and they should make a more clever setup for this.

    Valyrian steel armor doesn't just melt. In the books after Aegon the Conquer is burned by Balerion, Maegor takes Blackfyre from the pyre. There is a very plausible theory that spells and a blood sacrifice are needed in order to reforge Valyrian steel.

      @giulio11235 Před 20 dny +1

      The scene is good in the sense of acting but its such a nonsense could you imagine like the faction leader of a side in a civil war that goes inside the enemy capital without any way of getting out like what is rhaenyra plan if alicent screams “guards” killing herself?

    • @Rocsanna
      @Rocsanna Před 20 dny +7

      I liked that scene as well, gives more dimension to the conflict. And the way Rhaenyra's face just hardened at the end was epic. I love her acting, it’s subtle ( apart from the scenes with Rhaena 😅) I think it works in the show canon, because they've made Alicent and Rhaenyra have such a long history with each other, it makes sense that she knows Alicent and can predict her reaction. So in that light, it’s not far-fetched or season 8. Nothing has been season 8 level so far, which is a relief.

      Stupid? Yeah, That’s kind of the point.
      Like I’m not gonna tell you to change your mind or anything, But yeah the scene was meant to show that rhaenyra was still being dumb and wishful, and the main point of the scene was to show rhaenyra realizing her father didn’t pass her over for queen.
      Again, I think they way they set the scene up was a stretch and pretty dumb, But the conversation was super important and I liked it a lot.

      @kynan1232 Před 19 dny +3

      I also loved it. It helped to reinforce the fact that the show is, in the end, a TRAGEDY. Things could have gone better at many points, but both Alicent's and Rhaenyra's pride prevented them from concilating. Doubly so since neither are truly in full control of the bloodthirstiest parts of their respective factions.
