How To Reset Your Honda Radio When You Get Code Message

- The website changed over time and weirdly brought to a page with a security warning.
Because of this, I have received warnings from CZcams and I don't want to put my channel at risk.
Go on Google and look for ''honda nav code''
The first website should be a ''my garage Honda'' something.
From there you will be able to do the same process.
Some people mention that they now charge for this.
You may also give a call to your local honda dealer, if they are nice, they should help you with that.
I accept donations :)

Many thanks in advance!
It helps me a lot to make other videos.
You probably get this problem if you change your battery or empty it.
This is the procedure to repair the problem.
This may be not work if your car was sold out of USA.
clear and concise information. Thank you, that fixed my radio after I changed my battery. Now I have a label in my glovebox with the code.
Thank you for your comment Mark! I'm glad it helped! 😀
😢
Thanks! I left the lights of my car ON while I was at work. My battery died and a coworker helped me. Then I noticed that my radio was not working. I bought this car from somebody else and I don't remember having any code. I have 3 years with my CRV and this is my first time requesting a CODE. Thank's for share this video!
You are welcome Edna! Thank you for your comment! I'm glad it helped!😀
This was extremely helpful.
My car's battery was dead yesterday and I had to reset my stereo. I had to do the same with my previous car, a Pontiac, but it was really easy to do. The Honda Accord gave me a hard time. 😕
Thanks so much for sharing such a detailed video. 👍🏽
Sr Thank You So Much, I been driving my car for months without the radio, i went to a place they asked me $150 I refused, Came To CZcams , Your Video Is 1st i watched, i clearly understand every Step of your video do exactly the same things, Now Thanks To You I Got My Radio Back On, No Need To Spend in a new Radio. Thanks A Lot!
Ahah!! You are very welcome! Thank you for your comment I'm glad it helped! 🙂
You are a Rock Star!! This was by far the best information delivered in a straightforward manner. Thank you for the help!!
I have done this many times in the past but had lost the code over the years. Kept finding information that I KNEW was more involved than in needed to be.
This worked perfectly! My child home from college for the break says THANK YOU!!! Good to know for the other Hondas we have too.
You're welcome! I'm glad it helped! thank you for your comment Zodlydude! 😀
This worked in seconds. After a year of staying with no radio. Thank you!
Ahah!! You should have come to this video a year sooner. Ahah!! Thank you for your comment Sara! I'm glad it helped!
Thank you! I was getting very frustrated by conflicting information I was finding until I listened to this. The Honda website address had been changed but finding that was easy once I knew the CORRECT process. Thanks again for posting!
Thanks a lot for your comment! I'm glad it help! Have a great day!
Thanks a million. Other videos are several minutes and confusing, yours was perfect!
Hi Brandon! Thank your for your comment! I,m glad you apreciated it! Thats the goal of this channel. Only the essential and go straight to the point. Nobody have time to loose. 😉
Always go back to this video and has worked 3 times on a 2011 Honda Accord in under 2-3 min. Thank you sir.
Ahah!! Thank you very much for coming back every time! 😆 I'm glad it help!
There's also a much simpler way to do it. It works for most Honda radios.
1. Turn on your car.
2. Press and hold the "Tune select" button for at least 5 seconds.
That's it, no need to enter the code. Radio would be back to normal.
I did it on my 2014 Honda Pilot and it works fine.
Background info:
When the "Tune select" button was pressed and held for about 5 seconds or longer, the radio sent a token/signal (we called it a handshake in techie world) to a receiving chip that checks if the radio was in the same vehicle or not. If the radio was in the same vehicle (not stolen and not installed in a different vehicle), the chip allowed the radio to function normally. The token was pre-programmed at the factory to the receiving chip with the code generated by the radio. Of course, if the radio was on a different vehicle it wouldn't work because the chip on the other vehicle had a different token programmed to the chip. It would get a mismatch, therefore it wouldn't allow the radio to continue operating normally.
Wow! That's awesome! Also my tips would probably not work if the radio come from a different car.
Did this, and I'm being asked TO ENTER CODE X. I can't find the code anywhere. Please help. Thanks.
Excellent . Spent almost a month without music. Problem solved in a matter of minutes. Thanks alot! I'm all smiles now.
Ahah!! Thank you for your comment Catie! I'm glad it helped!

Thanks, this helped a lot. My daughters car was in for service at the local Firestone and when I moved her car, code appeared on the screen. I stumbled on to this video and it worked great. 2009 Honda Accord and the radio is back on. Thanks
You are welcome! Thank you for your comment Scott! I'm glad it helped! 🙂
Saved me a trip to the dealer. Thank you for the clear instruction.
Thank you, thank u so much! My cousin messed up my radio, months passed he couldn't fix. Now it is back on 😍😍🙏
Best of all, I did it myself
Ahah!! You're welcome! I'm glad it helped! 😀
Hey, this is Jeff, from the future, thanks for the info! Clear and concise!
Thank you! To everyone, make sure to put on the serial# the U-code followed by L-code all together.
As a used car purchaser, for a 2009 accord, the formermer owner wrote it in a place you may look frequently but not know what it means.
if you see a 5 digit number written somewhere, but not know what it referes too, it may be the radio pass code.
Thanks for the help. Thought this process might be more annoying since I misplaced my car manual. You made it easy peezy, thanks!
You are welcome I'm glad it help. Thank you for your comment! :)
Bro!! 😱🙌🙏 thank you so much!!
i was calling up everyone and going around the world to fix my boy's radio. It was so simple watching your "How to" vid. Thank you so much, he going to be so happy lol

Thank you!!! I bought a used 2006 element and didn't know what to do!!! But you made it easy!!! And for those having vin problems check the numbers could be letters I instead of 1 0 or O. There is a difference lol. I had a few issues entering my vin but once I got it right it was easy!!!!!
Thank you very much for your comment Liz! I'm glad it help! Habe a wonderful day and enjoy your radio! :)
Thanks!!! Car battery died and had this pop up. Wasn’t complicated at all!
Thank you SO MUCH!!! I was so bummed out that my radio was locked. I wish I would’ve found this video three days ago.

Ahah!! Great! Thank you for your comment i'm glad it helped! 😀
Thank you so much for saving me a trip to the dealership, & $$. I appreciate your help!
AHah!! I'm glad it helped! Thank you for your comment!
I was so damn irritated when I changed my starter and find that my radio quit… like WHY HONDA?!? But thank god for this CLEAR SPEAKING human being that can actually make a helpful, clear video… 5 mins later and my radio and CD player is back.. thank god that website is still up and running also..
Yes!!! This is the best video/info I found too... Unfortunately mine is still taking much longer, as had already hit too many random buttons, so it thinks I stole mine. Have to undo the battery & try again now that actually have the code.
@@photographing42 I confused mine too once but thankfully just taking it off the battery reset it. I wrote my code down and stuck it in my glove box for future reference.
Thank you so much! I'll follow your instructions and it worked. My serial code wasn't on the front windshield, it was the 8 digits the appear when presding power 1&6. I truly thought I would never get my radio back on.
Thank you thank you thank you. I am so happy and over excited that I did it myself,it would have cost me a whole lot. Thank you again.
Ahah!!! I'm glad you did it! 😀 Thank you four your comment!
Thank you it saved me so much money. You had very easy instructions to follow anyone can do this!!
Ahah!! Thank you very much for your comment! I'm glad it helped! Enjoy your radio and the money in your pocket! 😀
Thank you thought I was screwed after I just got it out of security lock mode. Appreciated the simplicity
Thank you for making this video! I have the book for my old Honda, and it didn't even tell me how to do this. It's been too quiet when I'm driving.
Worked for me in my 2005 crv. Definitely a weird way to go about it so thanks for the helpful video.
You are welcome! I'm glad it helped! Thank you for your comment! 😀
What was the code i have a Honda crv
You were by far the most helpful!!
Ahah!! Thank you for your comment! I'm glad it helped! 😀
Awesome! Many thanks for the simple, straight-forward video! Worked great, only issues I had were the buttons sticking and causing problems going for a clean code entry. Got to ErrE. :( Disconnected negative battery terminal and was able to start over. Buttons barely able to get the code in with only 1 error. Boom!! Radio is a rockin'! Thank you!! Now, time to get some PB Blaster sprayed into those buttons before they lock up completely.
Ahah!! Thank you Dean for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed! My channel goal is as you said to be simple and staight-forward. Now good luck with the PB Blaster! 😂
Thanks you really helped me. Especially by dropping the Honda code website in the link. I put in my vin, s/n, zip, email address and phone number and boom baby....I got the code. Thanks bro!
Ahah!! I'm glad it helped! Thank you for your comment! 😀

Ahah!! You are welcome! I'm glad it helped! Thank you for your comment!
This worked, thank you! The website has changed in 7 years lol
Ahah! Yes it did change over the last year.
It worked? How long until you received a code? Did you have to sign-up? :/
I’ve tried a few times, correcting mistakes, adding/removing spaces in the radio code, and have made it to a message reading “data loading” for a while, now. :/
@@eartherinfire not sure what may be the issue, but follow the exact steps in this video. I hit the power button a little too early once and I had to start the process over. You get the six digit code from the radio right away…
Thanks for the video! I was able to reset in no time!
You are welcome! I'm glad it help! Thanks for your comment! :)
Thank you!! Helped me and my son a ton!!

Thank you for putting this out! Saved my family van ✨🎉
You're so welcome! 😀
I done this one time and it worked, but I’m having to do it again and it says the website has expired, im not sure why it expired but it says that it could be a fake website, and I’m a little afraid to put my information in cause it asks for different stuff then you see in the video. Any idea of another website will work or if that website is still legit?
Okay so it’s just not working for me only? I don’t understand how it’s telling me my vin number is incorrect when I am quite clearly staring at the vin number.
Sometime there is 0 and O... Very similar but different 0O.
Otherwise you might need to contact your local Honda dealer that should help you for free.
This works great! I just reset my radio today. Thanks for the help!

Thank you veryy muchh, I've challenged my dad to get the code and I win 😂❤🤭
Ahah!! Thank you for your comment I'm glad I helped you to win! 😁😂
I'm about to replace my battery and have heard the code will need a reset. I was told by Honda that I'd be charged.. I hope this works for me! 🙏
Most dealer do it for free. Call an other one on the phone, they should give you the info.
But my tricks should work. 😉
@@HowToPM ok, I watched loads of vids before attacking the battery change. Yours was the last video, which is very precise and helpful.
I own a 2013 1.8 vtec civic which comes with a Sat nav.. i had to choose menu, then car information, this gave me serial number and chassis.
I changed the battery quickly and started the car. I get a screen message telling me that I have to press the On button for 2 seconds.... that was it! 😀
Maybe Honda realised the code input was silly? Or I was lucky?
I hope this can help someone else?
Thanks for your time. 👍
Thank you brother you was a BIG help !!!

Honda Website asks for a 5-digit zip code, but since I'm up here in Canada, we have 6 digit zip code and so I can't get the code on the website. Is there any other way I can get the code?
Hi Ken, I am Canadian to. There is an official way to get US zip with our version. SO first you only take your 5 characters, and you replace letters by ''0'' Exemple : J2G 3P5 become ''02030''.
Try this or any random US ZIP it should work. Otherwise you will may have to contact you local Honda dealer. I'm sure they will want to help for free.
Thanks!!! worked perfectly.
Your are very welcome! Thank you for your comment i'm glad it helped!
