    I’ve been a Reloader for a few year and a long time archer just got into making my own arrows this year , I’m finding it’s way more enjoyable than loading ammunition, and just as complex

    Very good idea, easy to understand. Have bookmarked it as I have several wood arrows that I need to check. Cheers.

    Simple DIY … Tip from a measurement technician … Unscrew the pointed tip from the dial gauge and measure with the flat end to avoid deviations from the arrow radius in the vertical measuring tip radius.

    Your using a Dial gauge, that could put a further 3.2 mm of pressure on the arrow

    excellent guide thank you for posting. I read somewhere recently that wooden arrows should be tested at 28" and tried using that distance but thought the shafts were bending rather a lot doh !..... There is a lot of misguided and incorrect information on the net so its good to find a reliable source thank you

    Thanks for this! I just recently made a tester based on your original design. Might need to update it in the future.

    Hello, mate!
    I've tried a lot of different DIY Archery crafts but I've got to say; I always fall back to yours because of their simplicity. I'm very sad that your shop isn't open but I will try my best to reproduce your ingenuity. 😁👌
    I noticed your links to the Spine Charts have expired, could you possibly re-upload them at some point?
    Best regards,
    A hopeful amateur bowyer

    Thanks for sharing, its my understanding that you measure grain vertical as shown but when putting the nocks on the grain should be horizontal when nocked is that correct.

    With some lower spine shafts, the needle deflects the shaft before adding the weight. How do you compensate for this?

    • @RobinhoodarrowsRHA
      @RobinhoodarrowsRHA  Před rokem +1

      To get a perfect reading the weight of the needle should be included when adding up the 2lb weight. ie, the hung weight would be 2lb minus the weight of the needle

    • @MuramasaRob
      @MuramasaRob Před 5 měsíci

      Would'nt it still affect an accurate reading, if you minus the weight of the needle from the 2lb weight before adding it to the arrow shaft, even after you zero the dial, the arrow would be bent slightly by so many .mm from the weight of the needle, then adding the adjusted weight would give the correct weight to pull down on the arrow shaft, but you lost so many .mm when you zero the dial, or am i missing something?@@RobinhoodarrowsRHA

    • @stevedjurovich194
      @stevedjurovich194 Před 11 hodinami

      @@RobinhoodarrowsRHA i found that the needle on the dial gauge, the one I got recently which looks identical to yours, is sprung and the pressure it applies varies with the amount of deflection ranging from 0 at full extension to nearly 4oz at full compression, so the extra weight it adds varies with the amount of deflection it is measuring. How do you allow for that, or do you just accept a varying amount of inaccuracy? I can't see how you can reliably correct for it.

  • @Taran-d.B.23
    @Taran-d.B.23 Před rokem

    But this is a one inch digital Dial, right? So i can just check shafts from 27lbs, not lower, right?

    • @sierraridgereaper
      @sierraridgereaper Před rokem

      Technically You would be able to measure from 200 spine all the way to 1000 spine. My 1" digital goes 0 to 1050. Depending on how you mount the dial (height on board/mount) will dictate the depth of the dials stroke so you want it set where its the most useable for your particular arrows.
