- Born in California, Von Hot Rod grew up around hot rods and racing cars. His dad Ben, “The Rod Father”, was a sprint car driver and drag racer from the 50s and 60s. When Von was born his father stopped racing and started building kustom cars and hot rods.
That’s when Von caught the hot rodding bug, and he has spent his life immersed in the California hot rod scene.
For the past two decades Von Hot Rod has dedicated his career to professional pinstriping, kustom art and kustom kulture events, including Von Hot Rod’s Pinstriper Reunion and Von Hot Rod’s Pinstriping Circus, a traveling show that helps raise money for charities.
With a list of accolades, endorsements and hot rod products as long as your arm, the Von Hot Rod name has become synonymous with what’s cool and old school.

WELL, NO I CANNOT DO IT MYSEKLF!!! But, I've seen dozens that can and like in my other comment just used better "knee pads"! Does great work no doubt but, doesn't impress only the people never seen it before!!!

Hey Dennis, next time you see my 57 check out one of your original "Certified Car Nut" decals on the windshield. That has to be at least 20-years old maybe older. Make your way to Bowling Green in august and I'll be there racing at the Tri-5 Nationals.

The adhesive plastic roll stuff looks really good for about 3 yrs while you are hunting stainless.
Kinda like tape pinstipes... few people consciously notice the difference... and they accept the look.

@@hotrodray6802Hey Ray! yeah i've got ab¥ut 10m of 20mm chrome mould tape used to to replace the shabby old stock bumper moulds already, but was hoping to find something with a little style. Its an Australian EB Fairmont from the 90s. I did find someones making a chrome/black mould with end spears to suit late stock 70s Holdens/Toyotas trims though which is tempting to use
What really struck me is the photo at 5:11: Back in the day, they all wore suits.

I am not sure if even the owner knows, but those instruments and push buttons are from a 1963/1964 Chrysler, not a 1959. The styles were very different

I don't care if the man himself annointed me with it ...but hey that's just me ....by the way "hot rod" is an EXCELLENT artist and pinstriper. ..i shouldn't even give a crap, quite frankly, because my wife who knew Ken personally Is sure he woulndt care either
