Wiki info is not 100% true. Grand Prix Award only was introduced since 2001 when Philippine contestant was the 1st winner then followed by CT 2002. Technically Ziana Zain, Anis Suraya & DCT were the ultimate winner equivalently.

Nephi, is that Shila Amzah's photo in the background? Btw Rumour has it Ziana was the only senior singer who went up and talked to Siti during her first appearance in AJL. Siti was a newcomer, and poeple could sense that she was gona make it big, and air of jealousy was everywhere. Ziana being a good hearted, sweet and friendly her, defied the odds. Seeing them doing a duet like this, its heartwarming. You can see Ziana looks at siti with love and awe. Of course Siti always looked up to Ziana as one of her idols. Love them both

Year 1996... Malaysia national Song Competition.. Named Anugerah Juara Lagu... invited judges from Asean Countries... It was epic and quite controversial that time, bcoz ziana defeated in that competition.. The song 'Kemelut di muara kasih' supposed to be a winner.. But, Siti won it... She delivered 'Jerat Percintaan on that time' .
This song originally belonged to Ziana Zain, maybe u can hear Ziana's ori.. no need to do reaction, just listen to it, u can hear her super higher note there. ;D

A year after she made an album and one of her song managed to compete in Juara Lagu ( Competition for composer/lyricist/Singer) where she was in the same category with Ziana Zain.. Ziana sang this song but luck was not on her side, but she's still a legend... Siti won the competition and the rest is a history ! For your record , Jaclyn Victor sang numbers of Ziana's song when she was in Malaysian Idol.

That's true. 😍 And both of their names start with "Siti". Both of their fathers were a policeman. And during AJL1996, Siti Nurhaliza was nervous. When she was walking up the stairs to the stage, Ziana held her hand and said "you can do it". Ziana also had a fever during the competition but she still made it to end of the show. And during an interview, she said she predicted Siti would win the competition. 😊 The 90's artists here in Malaysia were very supportive those days.

Must be noted that, the time of recording has passed ziana's prime time, her prime time was in early 90s, in her young age she can belt high notes effortlessly,
Siti as usual, always malaysian sweetheart, something fascinating about her is she can belt and still looking fine, and her high notes sounds beautiful,
