- Thomas & Friends most amazing fake Thomas The Tank train set to date. This Tomy ripoff has the auto-crossing level crossing piece and the Tomy toy car road system. It's an elaborate clone toy which has amazing Thomas & Friends box artwork to lure in young children. This toy train playset is a reminder to me of how large the older style of Thomas playsets used to be. The powered car and road system was very much part of the Tomy era of these toy train playsets. For a knockoff toy this was very expensive. On the surface this toy is very impressive until I start to look closely at the Thomas The Tank and accessories. Seeing a Tomy styled Henrietta included was different and that strange steam engine coal tender shouted to me classic dark side. The toy car had a very sensitive switch and needed to be constantly turned on after it failed. The absolute surprise was the auto-crossing level crossing which is a large set piece. Once the stickers were applied this railway crossing looked amazing. Nowhere on this knockoff toy is licensing info related to Tomy or the owners of Thomas The Tank. Another very strange aspect ot this set was the upsize Thomas and cloud speed design on the side of Thomas The Tank. This seems to be a rip of the 3 Speed RC Trackmaster Thomas The Tank. Sure I have one and tried to let it play on this ripoff playset, but all that happened was confusion and delay. Anyway I give Trackmaster 2 Thomas a spin to see how he can spice up this very weird knockoff toy. Scary when you see how good it can get, yet the very high price was a bit of a shock. I feel a set like this is only worth $30, $40 absolute max, considering it's illegal it's real value is $0.
This nasty knock off dark side toy is a strong reminder to us of the excellent quality seen in the real licensed Thomas and Friends merchandise, it really is worth paying that little bit more to have toys which are designed and built to last. In no way can I endorse these knock off products seen in this video, they are low quality and often have small parts which easily break away.

I'm always surprised at how much effort the dark side companies go through to produce these knock off Thomas toys. The box art is enough to lure unexpected people into their evil trap :P

For a knock off that is actually a decent set, especially in comparison to the Trackmaster RC Thomas! Quite surprised that the fake Thomas is actually stronger than Trackmaster 2 Thomas. Perhaps Trackmaster 2 Thomas would perform better on Trackmaster 2 track.
The 3-Speed Remote Controlled Thomas you have was most likely messed around with way too much during its production in the factory, you might have to have Custom Trackmasters see the problem with the Runaway 3-Speed Remote Controlled Thomas and see if he can solve the problem with it so it can work as intended, that way you'll have a completely functional 3-Speed R/C Thomas.
4:32 well I’m most definitely late but the vehicle is a hummer h3, it makes sense that it would be in the set since the brand has discontinued and may not have any right to it anymore
I loved this when I was 5. I thought these were official toys, unfortunately. Just goes to show how sometimes Darkside products can deceive people. I would only watch this channel in 2020, just came to thank you for all the things you've done for the TTTE community. I am also very sorry about CZcams has been screwing you over recently.

The hilarious part is I actually have the set this is based off of! It was my first Tomy set, and it was called "Thomas and Bertie's Great Race." It has Thomas, Annie, Clarabel, and Bertie, and it was very similar to this knock-off, well, except it was better made, legal, licensed, and works after eight years. This probably won't work after a single year.

That is so far the best knock off toy I have ever seen
I know I'm not suppose to say anything nice about this train set, But it looks okay for a knock-off toy. Kinda makes me wonder why Trackmaster doesn't do Road vehicles anymore.

I had an RC Thomas but the remote didn't work at all. Even with batteries in it. But when we wacked it a bit, only the first speed would work. That Dark Side Tomy set is based of The Great Race (I think that's what it was called) set with Thomas and Bertie.

This reminds me of an old Tomy set featuring Thomas and Bertie. It has that small station that you can attach Harold helicopter to, and a large suspension bridge for Thomas to run on. I forget what it's called but it's what got me into the Thomas series.

Hey Leo I used to have the three speed James. The James I owned would do that high pitched noise but it did it on hills. Even on a little incline it would stop and not budge and then if I put it on another track like a flat track after turning it off and then back on it wouldn't work at all. I also have the three speed spencer out of curiosity of James failing but to my surprise it worked just fine. I did tests on it like how much it could pull and hill tests. Spencer worked great. These engines are great to have but it's sad they malfunction.

Train Tsar Fun I'm not a fan of IR remote controls, to me they seem flaky at the best of times. Even the amazing Lego train has at times a remote that's very sub standard. Recently I showed an older style RC cars Lightning McQueen and it was the old style radio control. It was very responsive and did not play up by losing signal. Maybe the toy industry needs to go back a step to what used to work far better than IR control. I think the biggest problem with IR is the need to be line of sight and proximity to make it work. Toys tend to be chronically bad when controlled by IR. But then again..they are only toys.
I would much rather have RC control instead of infrared. Thanks for the info!

Looking into your RC Thomas; in my opinion, there would be some kinks and glitches for a 1st generation of said toys. If they decide to revamp the toy(which Trackmaster 2 is already quite fast), then they would have learned those issues, and the issues you're facing would not be present.
Awesome video! I have to admit that the people who created this set actually did 50% of there homework, if you know what I mean. It's just so entertaining, yet it does have a few downfalls and some bad features, like the tunnel. I was actually never a fan of the RC models because I knew that they would have some problems. I mean I did eventually buy a 2010 RC Thomas but that was because the Trackmaster 2 version was so bad and I also wanted to show future generations the entertainment we had back in the good old days :)

I think I know that is going on with that RC Thomas, The toy looks like it uses IR technology(Like a TV remote) and it has to be pointed right at the receiver on the train, The newer ones appear to use Radio Frequency(RF)

i think the knockoff thomas, despite being, well, knockoff, has a stronger motor with more torque, being that it's likely a copy of a Tomy product rather than a trackmaster. this also shows how much the quality of Toy production has gone downhill for the sake of cheapness and gimmicks.
I miss the old Tomy models, of blue track days. you can keep your mountain playsets and flipping bridges, gimme massive train sets of blue track and plastic trees. that sort of thing encourages more imagination, i made all my bridges tunnels and mountains outta shoeboxes and blankets.
