Thank you for filming here. I grew up in Glendora, used to explore here when I was a kid. Tried to scare each other with ghost stories. Lol. That's when it was surrounded by the nursery.
    👍😃

Thank you for watching and commenting. I wish I could have seen it before the area got built up. I only hope that the new residents with respect and care for this historic treasure.

I grew up in Glendora and I remember walking here with my friends in High School, to tell ghost stories and get a sense of peace we couldn't find anywhere else. More and more often we would come and find trash on the ground, beer bottles and glitter... We cleaned it up. This was when the Monrovia Nursery was still there. There used to be an old grapefruit tree there with grapefruits the size of melons. I wonder if it's still there...

Thank you for allowing us to see this old cemetery, I find it so sad that vandals have desecrated yet another, cemetery. It makes you wonder Why? Even when I was a younger person, I would have never even thought of, doing such a thing. Oh as young teens we went to cemeteries to wander through and tell ghost stories , but not once, did any of us, want to destroy anything. It a sad testament to some youth and how they spend their time. What are they thinking, when they do things like this !

Thank you for the wonderful video. My Great great grandparents on my grandmothers side are placed here. (Shorey). And yes we use to sneak in to tell stories and scare the girls in my teens. We would send some guys ahead and they would jump out of the trees. I remember my dad getting a call to pick up a headstone that was taken and placed on the lawn of city hall. I always respected the location and am very proud of our history in the area.

It seems for now that the worst of the vandalism is over, but all cemeteries are vulnerable. I'm hoping with the new homes in the area there will be more watchful eyes out to keep this historic location safe. Thank you for your comment and the view, all the best!

I always thought a cemetery would make a great neighbor! Too bad it took till 1991 for Glendora to get interested in their old area cemetery

You know, my Aunt used to tell me about a cemetery that she used to go to when she was a kid in Glendora. She told me that when it would rain, seashells would appear all over the ground. I found this cemetery on google maps and asked her if it was it and she said no at first but then she said that she wasn't sure and couldn't remember where it was exactly. Has anyone ever heard of that? She spent most of her life in Glendora and so did I. I still consider it my home town even though I don't live there and haven't for a very long time. She no longer lives there either and I only get to talk to her a couple times a year or whatever.
I have yet to find any info about this and haven't found any cemeteries other than the obvious well-known ones.

This is truly sad, those who made that harsh journey to the West, paved the way and establish our future only to be forgotten. All that rain gave this cemetery life again for a short while.....I see you found that 05:05 finger pointing to the Heavens.

As you say, it is a sad thing, but what makes it worse is the vandals... But it seems that Fairmount has been reclaimed. It's my understanding that they have Memorial Day celebrations, and other events out there.

I have lived in Azusa from 1962 to 1982, then Glendora from 1982 to the present. This cemetery is three blocks from where I now live. I was told by an old historian that this area was originally American Indian burial grounds, long before the white man came. Of course, the graves were unmarked. This perhaps explains why others have reported that there were many sea shells found on the property. I believe, and please correct me if I’m wrong, that native tribes prized seashells.

I recently discovered that my 2nd great grandmother, Nita Condell (I remember her son Glenn West Condell. He died when I was 9 in 1982) is buried there. As well as her parents my 3rd great grandparents, the Hudsons, who made it into your video for a few seconds. My mom grew up in Arcadia and she never had any idea our relatives were buried there. I lived in nearby Sierra Madre and passed thru on the 210 freeway a thousand times never knowing about this. I now live in AZ and was back visiting family. Tried to visit here but the gates are locked.
Does anybody know how I can legally enter this place besides Memorial Day when they apparently open it every year?

Just a request that the word "cemetery" be correctly spelled when posting videos or text. There is no "a" in cemetery. Check out the picture above. Thanks.

The picture you refer to is of an object in the cemetery. It was documented as I found it, misspelling and all.
