Thanks so much for your help. I returned to Skyrim after a long time and now I want to complete the game on one save without dying on legendary level and survival mode. I'm almost ready and your help will be very useful.

Really solid video maybe i will play Skyrim now ❤😌

Big fan of your vids, a big discrepancy here was created with the anniversary edition. In particular, the Torment sword which does as much damage as a madness mace but swings faster, and chyrsamere which has dragonbone damage but swings as fast as a mace. Both outpace most if not all of the other one handed or two handed weapons.

alright, this is interesting, but a bit imprecise.
to start with, when it comes to dual wielding, only the dual wield attacks have their speed scale with the left hand weapon. given how bad and animation locked those attacks are, the main reason to use dual wielding is for the bonus attack speed from the dual flurry perk, but you don't need to actually use the off hand weapon for that.
so, to touch on the topic of weapon stats. all weapons of the same material will have roughly the same dps regardless of weapon type.
swords being faster, they benefit more from weapon enchantments and leave you less open when you attack. another decent argument for swords are the silver weapons which have bonus damage against various enemies (mainly draugr, skeleton, vampires, dragon priests, and werewolves), this brings them way above the alternatives when fighting those enemies. and finally, the smithing bonus to weapons is a flat bonus, which means it also benefit more to faster weapons, one handed swords are technically the highest scaling weapon.
the reason to favor slower weapons like the maces or hammers is because they make hit and run tactics more effective by just dealing more damage in a single hit.
with the unofficial patch, the greatswords are fixed to have their proper 0.75 attack speed, instead of the 0.7 of the battleaxes.
among other differences, when swinging your weapon, you walk slower. one handed weapon slows you much less than two handed weapons. while two handed weapons compensate that weakness with their reach. that slow does not affect the sprint attack.
there's no bad weapon, pick what feels best to you, and switch it out if you find something that feels better. and don't bother with the weapon types perks, they all suck. sword perk is bad because the critical damage don't scale and are low, axe perk is bad because 80% of the enemies are immune to bleed and the damage doesn't scale and is low anyways, mace/hammer perk is bad because the vast majority of enemies have 0 armor and the few who have any armor still have low armor. because skyrim is a game that just works.
now to touch on skill expression.
the double attack after a power attack you speak of can be done with any weapon. it's simply that you can cancel the animation of a fast attack with the power attack, so on fast weapons, your fast attack starts when you press the key, and by the time you held the key enough to trigger the power attack, the fast attack has already hit. on slower weapons, you just have to do it manually, by releasing for a brief instant the button and holding it again, just to delay the power attack just enough to let the fast attack go through.
the most important part of skill expression in general combat is dodging ranged attacks. if you circle around a lot, most arrows will miss you. spells are a topic of their own.
second most important skills is spacing. as you get used to the reach of your weapon, you can simply walk in during the swing just enough to hit, and start walking back just as you hit to get out of reach. with two handed weapons you're taking advantage of your reach, with one handed weapons you're leveraging the walking speed, but they are overall the same thing.
the absolute game changer that suddenly makes you able to 1v1 anything with a fork and your naked butt, is: good use of bashing. you do not need the power bash and it's extensive stamina cost at all, if you bash an enemy at the right time during the wind up of an attack, he will be cancelled and be in the same recovery as when you block their light attacks. with well timed bashes, and i can't stress it enough, POWER BASH IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS, you can cancel leap attacks, such as the spiders, wolves, sabercats, you can cancel even the space program of the giants. however this has no effect on spellcasting.
last step of player skills is, just as shown in the intro, sprinting away to dodge big strong attacks. opening your mind to the idea of looking away to sprint for a long distance and dodge large attacks is a game changer. great value for dodging spells and dragon shouts (draugr shoots can't really be dodged at all though).
no clue if you were planning to cover those in the following videos, but i had to say it out loud.

Why are games always like this? In history the sword was used far more often than axes or maces, it was far more practical and effective. In fact the Roman Legionaries used a combination of sword and shield as their primary weapons. And yet, these games perpetuate a myth that other weapons are simply more effective and versatile than swords.

Swords aren't really all that great against armor.
Even the Romans had spear primary weapons, and preferred using their gladii in close range.

    • @jamestalbot6916

@@steinhvitrer3651 That is true, but in the classical period armor was rare. That is why everyone carried such big shields. Because they had an idea to avoid death. And yes they did have javelines but they were either used as missiles or to counter cavalry, not often in regular battles vs infantry.
I do not mean armor was not out their, or that armor was unobtainable, clearly many soldiers did get a hold of some armor. It merely does not outweigh the evidence that swords were often used by legionaries, undoubtedly for a reason because they conquered more than half of the then known world.
As a side note, I do not believe that the javelines wielded by Roman legionaries would have been well suited for shield combat, seeing as they would be very unwieldy in combination with a large shield. Where for contrast, sword and shield works very well in HEMA. I will leave it at that as it is impossible to show a good example in a youtube comments section.

@@jamestalbot6916 Swords were definitely not used more than axes or maces. Aside from the Roman Legionares, who used the gladius, most swords were a sign of status more so than a weapon of war. Spears, polearms, axes and maces were all used in warefare way more than swords. Swords are definitely more versatile in a duel, but they are not very effective as weapons of war.
