- On Thursday, January 25, 2018, Michelle Kwan uploaded on Instagram the first video of a series showcasing a new program! It's been 8 years since her last performance.
I compiled the 3 parts together along with a few other practice clips. She still has it, that "je nais se quoi"!
I remember running to the VCR/DVR every time she was set to compete, and being excited to see her perform her programs. Her recent practices bring back fond memories and the same feelings...maybe even a tear in the eye.
Michelle Kwan inspired me and thousands of others to take the plunge and learn how to skate. She skates with such infectious joy. How I wish she was still performing and competing again.

Michelle has always been by favorite skater. Even without any jumps it's amazing how she can still make you feel the music like no one else. With all due respect to the skaters since her time, I have yet to watch someone who has made me feel the emotion of the music so deeply in my heart as Michelle.
@SuK I feel the same way. Watching the pure joy on her face as she rediscovers skating is such a thrill to see. Many people miss her presence in the skating world. If she ever decides to perform again, even if for just a small show, she will be welcomed with such open arms. And there is also the Masters level at the US Adult National Championships and ISU Adult International in Germany and Canada... (Hi Michelle! Hint hint! 😬)
What I admire from Michelle Kwan is the number of elements she tried to showcase in her skating. You can compare her to all of her rival competitors but her repertoire can not be matched!
No one will ever match her level of medals and awards and impact she made on the sport. Her skating is on a whole other level . She still has it, that fluid, lightness about her skating. She is exceptional.
Her skate to Eva Cassidy's cover of 'Fields of Gold', in the 2002 Olympics, is still the most emotional (and best) sports moment I've ever seen on TV.
The older figure skaters like Michelle should go for it!!!! I think it would be so great to see more older competitors on the Olympic teams.

The free leg on the landing on her 2A is even better now than before. It's so high and extended. I really love her Lori and Frank years. Have you ever seen a video of her Rach LP for the 2006 Olympics?
If that ever turned up, CZcams would crash from everyone thirsting to see a glimpse of it 😂
