Z1, if you want to 'break' the links in a row of containers, just pick ONE up, move it, and then delete the links between it & others. Also, the Extractors work on UT (UniversalTime) and the cargo movers work on "real" time spent active. That's what is causing the slow transfer.
The storage size is absurd, in my opinion. You build a structure the size of a garden shed and it holds half the weight that I can carry by hand? Makes no sense.
I wish that once linked, these yellow storages worked as one, and their storage capacity be added up so you only need to interact with any linked container to see the content of all of them.
You can. Link them in order, and the last one linked will be the overflow for all the others, so you only need to unload that one repeatedly
@@user-lu3jz4vv5h I know all that. What I'm saying is that once linked, they should act as one, adding their capacity together, and you can access all from any container in the line you interact with.
Thank so much, Linking the containers was something I had not worked out yet. (my next issues is having 40 containers all full, and zero way to search through them other than going up to each on individually :-( )
For the wiring, specifically at 17:29, if you look at the [E] Move, it says: "Hold for Extra's". This will give you the wiring option without having to building mode.
To break the connections in case you haven't worked that out.. Just move the container so its no longer auto linked. You can then see the red lines more clearly, and delete them
(sub-optimal, but it works)
I’m sure it’s just old me, but this video showed me how those under 30 cannot use words to describe their actions. They never have had to, there has always been a visual que attached. I appreciate the video, and found it helpful for this geezer.
For breaking the connections couldnt you use the modify mode of outpost building to move the storage away so the connections are accessible?
Yeah if you need to fix the storage in a line just move them apart
"just move them apart" avoids the fact that a $60-$100 game doesn't have an option to 'disconnect link' from an object which may be embedded between a bunch of others@@tylerworth5410
∆THIS∆
Pull the container out of the stack and the connector line drags with it allowing you to delete it. Also, if you change the output item of a fabricator doing this will break the connection.
This is what I do. 👍
Man I feel dumb 😂 thank you so much. Makes so much sense I should’ve thought of that 🤷♂️
By pressing [T] you can transfer all resources
So if you connect your manufacturing to say the 2nd to last container that means you will always have a storage container fulls worth.
Thank you for the extra time in this video, helped me solve an issue with some storage on my outpost, much appreciated good sir!!
Man I REALLY want to like the outpost building in this. They have the foundation of something great here, but it's just so danged difficult to do anything. Keep the info rolling in, Z! We'll figure this out eventually.
It's way annoying in fallout 4 😂 like the power connection need an actual cable
I agree. Building stuff works well, but getting the materials together for it is really frustrating. The thing I find most ridiculous about it is that I find myself going to a different star system just to find 20 aluminum, then, a minute later I need to go back again 'cos I forgot iron or copper. Added to this, the materials delivery system is completely broken, so we have to carry all the materials everywhere manually. Combined with the low carry limit, it makes any sort of building or selling activity completely frustrating.
It's incredibly poorly implemented... Even worse than fo4. I fear we will have to wait for the incredible modding community to overhaul the system once they get some modding tools.
I've checked out quite a few outpost videos and this by far was the most helpful. Sparked some ideas that I hadn't considered before - thank you!
Can you move the containers around, or are they permanently attached once placed? If you can move them - just move them off to the side and you should see the connections better
Just an FYI, when in build mode, dragging your mouse back and forward zooms in and out, allows for more accurate positioning of buildings.
Omg finally! Thanks for this :D
Thank you for trying to puzzle all of this out. I was originally just grabbing everything I saw that wasn't nailed down until myself, my ship, and my companion were full to the bursting, but it got annoying managing all of that so I just started selling it all. Now that I can see the outposts aren't too bad to get started relatively early I'll probably go get at least a storage base up.
Thank you so much for making this man!!!
To disconnect lines (8:46), go into modify mode (the one where you can move items, hover over the red line, and hold R. NM, I get what you are talking about now. Containers that are stacked. Move one of the containers till you can see the connection. Trying to figure out the Inter-stellar pad myself.
Can you have two connections? For instance one solid container, that then feeds into two non-conected solid containers. If so, does it spilt the stacks 1-for-1 or does it fill one and then fill the other? You could make a splitter with the former
Great video and I really liked the tip on how to line the containers up. I didn't know they would snap to each other! It was driving me nuts :D
Awesome. I love base building!
Thank you for these explanatory videos.
Really helpful, cheers!
Great Starfield tutorial. Thanks.
Im sorry but i dont understand whats not to understand. Its a great system and most things are really self explaining. At least for me. Maybe base building in NoMansSky helped..
This is the most helpful SF video I've seen
What skills do you need to build a simple fabricator?Because I don't have it in my build options yet.
I haven't been able to find the warehouse crates in any research yet. Probably missing something obvious, but how do you get them?
Great video! MORE
the cargo pads should in all normal situations be able to be interlinked as part of a proper network especially since you can't get everything you need on any one planet.
the only potential alternative is just pairing off the intra-system pads and creating transfer nodes
aside from basic resources like copper, iron, Bauxite and such. you'll want to be gathering and stockpiling H3 = Tritium. and any other material needed for ship fuel.
placing a ground base will need careful siting to get as much out of it in different materials as feasible using several mining rigs. which dump into a local cargo storage for transfer into the landing pad to your main base. it looks like any given rig will produce 1 ore per cycle meaning you'll need several anyway to feed your production or refine to sell off.
time to bounce into ship construction and modification as it might seem that a tanker hauling Ship Fuel could possibly be a good way to make bank.
Here's what I do: Main base has 5 regular cargo links and 1 interstellar link. On other planets in system i also have 2-3 cargo links. Heres why. Say a moon has copper mine with 9 extractors, solid storage, and power. I have no incoming, so its all outbound storage. On the main planet i may have 3 outposts, each with a different resource or two. Ill set up one main base on that planet as a focal point, to connect either interstellar to another main base or to another planet within that solar system. So at this base i set up to 5 cargo links, so the other outposts on that planet, AND the one on the moon, or both moons etc are each sending in 1-2 resources each cargo link. I have 3 systems with at least 1 main base, (and 2 of those send to the third which is my top main base), and each main base has like 5 incoming from other outposts. For over 15 resources all slowly being funneled to my top main base. With about 9 extractors made for each resource, means i have almost 5k of each resource when i go to collect and sell. Got over 6k storage on my attack vessel, and im crawling around with about 30k weight, sold for about 150k in credits each time at neon, with about 3-4 sleep times for the shops to replenish funds.
You can also just move the container out a little to get to the connection and disengage it
For breaking those tight connections between storage containers I would recommended changing your view point from above to first person.
So, need to check colony management and assigning crew to the base.
Great Walkthrough; Thank You. TIP: You can try a save and reload to see if the error on the link clears up. This was suggested to me and so far it has fixed everything but I have not started the interlinks...
To use inter system transfer i have helium transfered through one going to a storage then fed back into the fuel tank on it. To then start the process you just fill the storage with helium then it keeps itself filled up.
Then make another one for the other items, and fuel from first ones storage.
I found if you use only one then the storage space is filled with things other than helium so you can run out of fuel.
Z can you do a base build tutorials playlist 🧐 I got so overwhelmed 😢 I haven’t played it yet as I’m waiting for normal release
Perfect dinner watch, I am a hundred experience from lvl 12 and my first point into the outpost engineering skill.
Are you sure resources are shared from everywhere? I linked that ship thing and like in your video I put a bunch of aluminum in my storage and its saying I don't have any right now
To break connection, you just click delete when looking at crate in modify mode (not build mode).
So would you manufacture a bunch of stuff for bulk selling and is this they way you generate $$ from your outpost ??
Is there any way to automatically sell generated resources?
So far the only way I've been able to delete links between storage containers in a grid is by going into modify mode and moving each container out of the grid so I can see the connection line. Would be nice if there was a connections-only view mode.
how do you make the Warehouse storage? i did not see that in the outpost builder?
You have to research it. Manufacturing 1 at research lab.
Hey man, I've been watching this without skipping but I got so lost, I just paused at the part where you said that our resources are taken out of all our storage??? So I could make a gigantic warehouse outpost for my hoarder tendencies, right? I keep setting them up wrong though
Would I just drop a ship cargo transfer down with a bunch of warehouses and stuff them or something?
To delete the output links linked to the containers just move the container and remove the links that way
Love these videos. I'm not watching 5he story ones sorry as I'm playing too. I love your base videos in games though so I'm here for these
What we need Next is an efficient manufacturing chain, where each build leads to the next. We take base resources, build A, with A and resources, we build B, … C, D… a sensible list.
One For this planet would be efficient., vs flying stuff across the galaxy & back would be an inefficient hassle.
They need to fix two things in this. Too see the goods when crafting/building if you also hold it in the those crates and a robot to bring it from the storage to the crates. That would make it easier.
H3 is Tritium - Not Helium ! (its a Radioactive Hydrogen isotope)
Where did you find that out? Do you happen to know where to find it? Can’t find any infor on this at all. Any help would be appreciated 😊
how long till your making the next starfield ep
How do you build in your habitat?
Do you know how to delete the landing fields that are created when you land; I am on Xbox!
I hope they add or someone makes a mod for storage containers to filter for certain goods.
Is there a skill that increases the perimiter of your outpost? Your perimiter seems much larger than mine.
Waitaminute.... Slipg8ter? Is that you? Been missing you for a few years if so.
All you have to do is move the container and the link will remain. You can then target the link to delete it. Then move the container back if you want
Would you say this was worth the $99 prerelease or do you suggest waiting (skins and such are not important to me)
You can store all resources by pressing "T" in the menu so that you dont have to dump each one at a time.
You can delete the waypoint by scrolling on the red line and for those containers to fill just go wait on venus for 2 to 3 days because it has 2400 hours for a single day in game
As much as I love this game so far, the outpost system is so damned frustrating to figure out. I wish they’d just kept the Fallout version to a degree. Having 50 containers full of stuff, while immersive and fitting is still frustrating. I wish you could pile your resources into a workbench instead. My smooth brain has issues comprehending this system. 😆
Gosh I didn't think the storage system was so unnecessarily complicated. I just want a base to dump all my ressources to, and use the workbenches on my ship using said resources. Is that even possible or do I absolutely have to have all workbenches on the base and use those instead? And if I do so, will it also pool from the resources on my ship?
Does anyone know if it's possible to have items made at an outpost and have it autosold to a city, as a sort of passive income instead of hand selling everything?
definitely not. The didn't even get output link logic to work consistently.
umm Z1 when dumping you can hit T to mass store resources faster, incase you not notice it at the bottom of the screen lol.
tysm. This needs to be explained in the game somehow. like omg
Just wait until you build bigger bases, there are so many things that need mods to sort out. It will do your head in.
The ship dropping off resources I thought was just someone landing I was all waiting by the ship so I could steal it when they got out 😂😂
Has anyone worked out if junk has material values like it does in fallout 4 and 76. Not sure if they do so no point grabbing stuff.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned but the resource containers have 75 weight but if you look at the storage crates in the decorations tab 2nd variant has 150 weight, you can still use the link from extractors, it does take what ever so it's not going to sort things for you same way but I just found it weird bethesda only gave the large containers only 75 weight so wouldn't be better use the crates? or maybe I'm missing something just something I noticed
I believe the crates do not make the resources available to you for building stuff
@@katwilliams591 ahh okay.
This game NEEDS multiplayer
How do you transfer stuff to your outpost via your cargo hold on your ship? i don't have the option in my cargo hold.
I think I saw an option in the Transfer Platform. Try going into the Inventory of the Transfer Platform and there should be an option to access YOUR Inventory and then the Ship's Inventory... I think that may be how it's done.
This is just a guess as I don't have Starfield, yet, and I'm not sure whether I'm going to have time to put into it. I'm plenty busy with Techtonica, I am Future, Desynced, and Sunkenland, for now...
Need to build a landing pad on your outpost so your ship can land then go into your ship cargo hold inventory and switch you should be able to see your outpost inventory. Dont forget to build transfer container. It won't work without out. P.s if the ship is not landing on landing pad in outpost. Build the bigger landing pad with ship modifier. Everytime you access the terminal on the pad the ship will appear thats a workaround to not landing problem on a small landing pad. ;)
I think its busted. I have everything done right. I can transfer to the ship. But not yo outpost, which is the only reason I watched the video and it's a bust.
You have to do that manually
Me: How do storage containers work?
Also me: It’s been 4 minutes I give up.
there is a literal button "transfer all". Working out that keyboard and mouse the hard way.
cant be bothered to read if somoene has commented this but if u move the container further away the connection lines will stay attached so you can then delete them
Move the container apart, break the link, snap it back in place.
Just leave a space in-between the storage units so u can access the connections.
Where is the warehouse storage, i done see it in the drop down menu
me either
Anyone else having issues with everything exploding? I thought it was due to something I was doing wrong with power management (I am wiring everything through switches) but I can't figure it out
sooo u can move the crates without breaking the wires it seams so u can get into thoes small connections. :) u asked people to leave comment about it
The intra- and inter-system materials transfer thing just doesn't work. I set one up today and it didn't do anything. I have no idea where all the materials it made went - they seem to have simply disappeared. Also, if you have two bases on the same planet, the ship will only recognize the first one you set down, even if your ship is physically AT the second base.
Not saying this is going to "fix" your situation but, those launching pad need to be powered with helium. They won't work without that powering them.
For me the input and output containers dont work properly. I got 2 bases. I want aluminum from base 1 to base 2. Aluminum is in the red container in base 1. Both bases are connected. Still nothing appears in the green container in base 2
You need to link them up in the screen on top of stairs to your Link platform :) Hope it helps
Move the c9ntainer out of the line, take off the link then place 8t back in place
Love this explanation! but please for the love of God....T "Store all resources" LOLOL
“Autistic Manifold” 😂😂 💀
Build the container in a checkerboard pattern, then the lines can be deleted))
Couldn't you move a container away from another, giving them space between, then break the connection?
Dont bother with the transer pad, pick up everything even if its 20k bulk. As long as youre 250m from your ship, you can access your ship inventory and dump all of it.
Just move the boxes to expose the connections.
scatterbrained
Great video, off to a slow start even with early access it's a lot to take in. I added this to my watch later save as I'm just now diving into outpost building and it can be overwhelming. I just had my first outpost attack, unlike FO4 you already know where the spawn points are for each settlement so I like how the game mechanics were done in Starfield. I had to go around and repair all of the solar panels along with extractors. I'm going to pull this video up on my Ipad when I jump back in for reference Thank you!
Les go
I made 3 outpost. Set up containers in a loop. So eventually it will be full all over!!!!!!!!! 😂
Thanks for the vid, Just a comment from a new viewer. Pause a bit, combine your thoughts and make a workflow flow ahead of time. This video could have easily been 1/2 the length and less confusing.
Delete link fix Idea : After watching this I thought why not move each storage unit out from where it was placed, delete the link then put it back again
i think i will stick to x4 foundations. i think its the better space game for me atm. but maybe there is more to starfield then meets the eye. a lot we dont know yet. + side it seems to honestly be a pretty solid game release. i not heard of anyone complaining about bugs and crashes. i seen live streams and i know its not Bug free. but as a whole its in pretty good working order. for bethesda that is a huge+
I cant link de ship
Yeah the details of how items get linked together is really tricky. The way the containers link up, when you want to add new ones is very tricky! I believe the last container that you link, is always at the "bottom" of the list. And the one you want to re-wire from. Such a fiddly way of setting them up. I will most likely have to completely re-do my base as well. Good tip about how to stack them (the front face).
I also like the details on manufacturing and "warehouse" storage containers.
I dont understand the cargo link pads.. i dont see them usefull cause you can only link 1 to 1. If you for example have a outpost that farms copper and one outpost for iron, then you have to build 2 links in your base to get both. You cant link 2 cargo links to 1 in your base. You always need 1 to 1...
I think the pads will transfer anything fed into the red link box.
@@rhadiem for me its not even working. the red boxes stay full. the ship lands and flys away. redbox still full
I think I could spend hours in this game.
16:30 cause they are wrong way? 😅
Press T to store all resources at once instead of clicking on each resource individually.
yo
