Your beloved cat has been missing for a few days. You suspect she's run off into the woods across the street, a bad habit she does whenever she manages to get a paw out the door behind your back. The forest wasn't known to be dangerous, quite peaceful in fact, but her being an indoor pet has you worried regardless.
Though being an indoor person yourself, you wound up wandering far deeper than you intended. Lucky for you a kind (but odd-looking) stranger stumbled upon you before anything bad happened.
...Let's hope he only has good intentions in bringing you home.

not exactly, as yeah you can follow the route where the player indeed sees him as a monster, but on the route that leads the story ahead, the player does not. Mychael feels bad because he wished he didn't need to hypnotize us and also just because he's aware that's not a good thing to do

I actually think that Mychael keeps us from dying tbh and that's also a reason why he doesn't want to let us go. Because in the ending peaceful slumber you can see both the cat and the body (ofc yours) meaning the mushrooms killed both Waffles and you. So I have a theory that Mychael is keeping you from dying completely. And that the purple text is death itself that's tricking you so you want to return to where you belong. Home. But in reality where you to return to being where you truly belong. Death.

I dont know if anyone noticed this, but im the ending peaceful slumber, you can actually tell what happened to the cat. Next to the outline of the person, there is also an outline of a cat, meaning that the cat had the same fate as nenna in that ending. Rip waffle ✊😭❤❤

Other than the first, all endings really made me sad.. he's just afraid to be all along again, as he was all these years. He finally knew what it's like to communicate, talke to someone, be with them without them fearing him and even eating a meal with them. Honestly, it makes me so sad, i will want to play this game sometime.. he is so adorable and it really hurts me...

Also, to note a theory for the ending Peaceful Slumber I think that when it seems that he's "looking for something" he's searching for any bit of infection on you, but can't seem to find any. And as much as he would love for you to stay due to wanting to protect you as well as his loneliness, he feels that if you aren't in danger he can't keep you. Which is why he's so reluctant.
I imagine that because you're so insistent in that ending, he'd feel bad for keeping you since you have no real connection (yet). But in another ending he completely brainwashes you, not for the sake of protection, but to cure his loneliness. In Playing Pretend you have a moment with him. You spend time with him, he likes you. And supposedly, you like him. So when you flip out and try to run away he gets scared because he needs you. He needs companionship. And clearly, you, sweet, lovely you, already care for him. So why would you want to leave? If you just knew from the beginning what he looked like and everything else in between then surely you'd stay. And you did.
All Mycheal wants is a friend, and if it means pretending, or making sure you're safe, he'll do whatever he deems necessary. (Evidenced by him bringing the crossbow on your "trip home" as well as every event in which he brainwashes you.)
