    I see you have a wiring setup. IF I go to salvage yard and get a set of connectors will the connectors be pinned out the same for example on a 2000 VW Beetle? It has a cluster that shows 2002 or 2003 time frame as I don't have it in front of me.
    A wiring setup for the back of the single cluster assembly is what I have.
    Also can this software be used via OBD on the vehicle if we are able to extract the pin code or not?
    If so then I think I may have have the pin code as I used a aftermarket scan tool available for locksmithing.
    If I knew which wires were what we needed to hookup as in power 12v, negative?, CAN, Prog, etc I would use a pinout as I have a programmer by Autel as well.

If so can I transfer all of my instrument clusters data to a used one from another Tdi of the same year and have to work in my vehicle with almost no issue? Also does it have to be another TDI cluster or can it be a gasline cluster? Thank you for the great Video and info.

And I am a little confused regarding saving the info Are you saving everything or just the info towards the bottom. And if towards the bottom I am a bit confused how yo do just that? Or is it simply reading the EEPROM and saving it as a file then connecting the second cluster and then reading and saving the second EEPROM then opening and then writing the second cluster with the first cluster's EEPROM. Thanks

      Since you say it's had a crash there's probably crash data in the airbag module that will stop the car from running. If so the airbag module needs replacing.
      This also means you might need to fix the battery isolator fuse which will be activated in a big crash. When activated it cuts off power to the engine to protect it. It's on the battery. Sounds like it’s been IMMO defeated. You can also interrogate the ECU to get the correct data which you can see in the bottom of the VAG eeprom program window. You can then use this information to write that data back into the cluster so it can all match properly.

    Is it possible to do a read modify write of the EEPROM? In other words if I cant read EEPROM from original cluster can I read new cluster, then modify VIN, PIN code etc and write back? Is there a checksum that has to be recalculated and updated as well?

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga Před 2 lety +1

      I’ve only ever manually transferred chunks of data by knowing original data and manually typing it into the replacement cluster. I’ve never not been able to read original cluster data.
      I’m pretty sure there will be checksums that need calculating if you’re modifying without knowing the complete data sets from original cluster.
      It’s strange you can’t read one cluster but the other.

      @@ianpgonzaga Ian, thanks for the speedy response. FT232 Cable is arriving today so don't know for sure just yet that I can read either cluster. The original cluster was near dead but still had working odo and car would run with it. It had been repaired once so I sent it back to same repair company and they returned it completely dead saying "not repairable". Car wont run but a few seconds now with old cluster consistent with it being totally dead, no odo or other signs of life. I have a replacement cluster and it wont run with that either and immo flashes. Hence the need to modify a new cluster without having old cluster to copy from. My day job includes SMT electronics hand assembly so not afraid to move chips between clusters however its not clear to me that the MCU which hosts the EEPROM is not in fact the very component that is dead on my old cluster. Is there a "security" section from the ECU that can be cloned to the cluster? ie do they share identical data in their security records?

      Plug charger into car battery, I only got it to work after my battery was trickle charging.
      Set up your COM ports on windows with the correct FTDI Drivers. I used COM 2. Once in VAG EEPROM PROGRAMMER, you need to go to options and set your COM PORT.
      Turn key in igntion to ON position (Don't start car though)
      Go to Dash->Bosch->Get Access Code
      It may take up to 10 tries but keep trying. Once it looks like it succeeded, move on
      GO to Dash->Bosch->Read encrypted
      Try 10x times until it reads successfully. SAVE THE FILE SOMEWHERE SAFE! FIle->save as. IF you brick your cluster this will be used to restore it.
      GO to Dash->Bosch->Set from mode 6 to 4. Try until succeeds
      GO to Dash->Bosch->read decrypted, try until succeeds, once it succeeds you have a pin code, congrats!
