      I agree, this "after-take" makes the cars in the movie really, really cool. It's too bad the movie itself didn't glorify these vehicles. I had seen the film, before this.. and thought mere mediocrity of the vehicles showcased only because they took the back burner in the film.

    What pissed me off was all the people complaining when the trailer first dropped, going "derr if the gas is running out, den why dey drive deese big cars?" Ok, I don't want to see Max and the warboys duking it out in Volts and Priuses!!!

    • @jimbartosevich498

    • @axeavier
      @axeavier Před 6 lety +8

      why must an electric car be or look like a volt or prius?

    • @jimbartosevich498
      @jimbartosevich498 Před 6 lety +24

      Axe Avier in a functioning world battery powered cars have yet to overcome the challenge of being worthwhile for most of our peaceful needs. How many charging stations do you think could survive in the mad max setting? How difficult would survival become staying at one for half an hour, immobilized?
      Edit: besides the practical uselessness of electric in modern times and the "throwback" effect of the apocalypse, the tribalism of these desert drivers must also be accounted for. There is a reverence for the internal combustion engine, particularly the v8. There are shrines made to it. The war boys hand signal represents a v8.
      Besides the inclusion of massive cars, you must also think of what is excluded. Mad max has a distinct lack of any solid state electronics on purpose. Sure some minor solid state electronics may have survived. But nothing as complex as the digital electric motor controllers needed to operate a proper electric car, or to deliver the smart charge they require.

    • @jimbartosevich498
      @jimbartosevich498 Před 6 lety +6

      Arne Hurnik v8 would be just as unreliable as what? As electric cars that rely on solid state motor controllers that don't exist in the mad max setting? I mean, sure gasoline is a previous rare commodity there, but at least it's real.
      Read my previous comments about the tech throwback from the apocalyptic event. Also pay attention to the fact that the drawbacks of electric cars being exaggerated in such a setting, and they're a hard enough sell now.
      Also look at what I've said about the reverence that these people have for the v8.
      I also explained that hp=prestige.
      See, the movie makes perfect sense to someone who has learned the setting. Don't forget that it it's actually a sequel. There are three previous movies that clarify the logic of this one.

    • @jimbartosevich498
      @jimbartosevich498 Před 6 lety +15

      Arne Hurnik less of everything is not the same as none of anything. You really haven't put any thought into this before replying. Its okay to not know. Just admit it. My response will be edited so I can go back to what you wrote several times.
      Your question about gasoline is answered halfway in this video. The people eater is a mobile refinery. (Since you didn't watch the video, the people eater is the name of the truck with the limousine cab. Refineries are mobile because that makes them more defensible. Hence all the need for powerful engines. The other half is seen in "the road warrior" when max finds a heavily defended pumping station.
      If they can refine gas, certainly they can reclaim and clean oil.
      For the THIRD time, advanced motor controllers and solid state electronics DO NOT EXIST. The engines used would not be reliant on ecu for this reason. They are carburetor aspiration, and purely mechanical.
      There is food and water. Those are the very things that the warlords are fighting to control. That's the key.
      As for parts and components, the setting is POST APOCALYPSE. That's why all the vehicles are so rough looking. They aren't manufacturing from new. They are building from scrap. Again, the video you are commenting on explains this.
      Just admit that the reason why the moviemakes no sense to you is that you haven't made any effort to understand it before you say something else as dumb as "aNyThInG oThEr ThAn A hOrSe Or DoNkEy Is ImPoSsIbLe" about a setting you know nothing about.

      This is the problem in the CGI era; it's all too easy to assume that nothing is real, especially with films like this that are particularly heavy on the effects. The Transformers films are the same. It wasn't until I saw behind the scenes footage that I realized only the robots themselves were CGI, the rest is real. There was one scene with a real explosion that sent a real car flying and, off-camera, it ended up jammed in the side of a building two stories up! I'm definitely going to have to watch Fury Road again after seeing this.

    In my opinion the Giga Horse, People eater and Doof wagon are the best ones. I fucking loved this badass movie, so much legitimate hard work and creative brain power put into it. Ill bet it was upsetting for the creators to see their machines of war being destroyed when filming lol

    there is only a tiny problem guys. the original interceptor was actualy identical to any interceptor, except for the blower. witch actually made sense (even tho in real world the engine did not like it) , max needed more power. blower gave more power. AND (quite unrealisticly) it had the opton to be on, or off. could be done, but not easy. however it would make sense, fuel is not abdundant so you want an "economic" mode. so it all comes down well.
    on the otherhand, here the things you shown are not practical mostly. that tracked thing is certainly not gona be fast. the car with tractor wheels on it, is allso limited in speed. and so on.
    thing is , while they do look great, they are simply not things one would use in a world like that.
    unlike the original interceptor witch actually made:
    SENSE.

      Harry, I was interested to know this too so I did some digging. It turns out that some of the vehicles were crushed in Cape Town South Africa to avoid government import/export shipping taxes, but quite a few did survive and were returned to Sydney, Australia. Which were:
      *2 x War Rigs
      *2 x Gigahorse
      *Doof Wagon
      *2 x Nuxcar
      *Razor Cola
      *Max's Interceptor
      *Convoy 1 Elvis
      *Convoy 2 Jaguar
      * Caltrop #3 Cranky Frank
      *Polecat 7 Buick
      *Polecat 6 Surfari
      *Polecat 3 Oldsmobile
      *Clawcar 1 Ford F350 and a few bikes
      The "Buzzard 5" and "Polecat 4" are in the hands of private owners, the body shell for Buggy 11 Lysdexia was placed for sale on ebay recently, and the Bigfoot vehicle was stripped of its body shell and the chassis returned to being a monster truck again.
